One of the best Fighters of the 1960s and still not over the hill with mach 2.1 speed, 1200 mile range, and a 40,000 fpm climb rate. The old girl is still a Hot Stick.
Considering that the first test flight occured 1967 and the airforce took delivery in 1971 and going forward, being one of the greatest fighters of the 60s is quite a self fulfilling achievement.
Beautiful video! One of the best display videos I've ever seen, with focus on the aircraft and no disturbing music. Thanx from a fellow Swede for sharing!
Brilliant video expertly filmed. Thanks for not zooming in too much! I would absolutely love to see a Viggen fly in person, hopefully one day. That profile as it rotates away from the runway with that mighty engine on full reheat is iconic.
It really looks like a wide skirt and a tight top! Man, I remeber these mahines.Once, on an airfield, preparing for a skydive, one of these beasts did a practice run for the following day exb. I'm not kidding you! I was rolling around in the wake oft he Viggen... It was a 1000 m transonic fly by, and I had to start all over packing my chute...
Draken gives me the vibes of a classic Porsche car. Viggen on the other hand oozes of american muscle car. Great footage by the way! I photograph Finnish airshows regurarly and wish Viggens would come here. But we get Swedish Historic Flight Drakens, which is nice.
I particularly love this lady because... (yep I know it's silly) when climbing up vertical she looks like a lady with a beautiful dress, more than the following jet fighters with similar structure
Any chance that this beauty can grace the UK skies again sometime soon Mr Swedish Airforce? Please? I’ve lost count of the number of years it’s been since I lost saw a Viggen fly (and a Draken). :(
Since it can't refuel while flying, it will be hard, it will have to stop on the continent before reaching uk, I think one airshow doesn't worth the effort
If I should describe this marvel, using a woman's body, I would use Agnetha Faltskog: tall, strong, with a wonderfull rear and most important, beautiful and swedish.
This is by far the best Viggen video I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing this. Great filming :-) And the Viggen is such an almighty aircraft - good to see it preserved and displayed in this way! Thumbs up 100%!
True that, also Gripen contains alot of carbon fibre which wasn't in use when Viggen came, so they used Aluminum, the JA-37 Viggen had similar perfomance as Gripen C, but Gripen did everything cheaper so the government went with that instead, Viggen could easily have pushed another 20 years (retired in 2005).
mikeB1920 That's the AJ version, this Viggen is AJS (Attack, Jakt & Spaning), with the S being Reconnaissance, so with an international version number it would be AFR (Attack, Fighter & Reconnaissance).
It's a big, heavy plane. It is also designed to be able to make hard landings on pretty much ordinary country roads in case of war, using the reverse jet blast which also takes a toll.
Viggen weigh 2 ton more than F-16, F-16 needs 2 kilometers to land, Viggen can land within 400 meters, the pressure on the tyres is just insane, they needed to compensate for that.

Such a beautiful fighter. Really good video. Nice shot and without annoying music. Thank you for sharing, and keep up the good work!
Thanks!

And the first fighter jet (outside the US) with a computer

Whoever filmed this deserves a gold medal! Impressive!
Arnisho Very happy to hear :)

handmademusic Thank you :)
My new favorite plane
Awesome video of such a great aircraft , thanks for sharing and a big thumbs up for no music to ruin such a great video
Earl W Thank you sir!

100 m!
If you see and hear it now, It´s still a beast!
Thanks for NOT adding music to this beautiful video!
In times of general over-entertainment it is like medicine!

This is a beautifully shot video in my eyes. Great job 👍👍
Guy Wilson Thank you sir!
Snyggt och fint Jesper! Swedish Power!!
Tack Tommy! Ja Viggen är svårslagen :)

Det här är helt underbart.
MrRikard1994 Roligt höra. Tack! :)
Snyggt filmat..Vilken skicklig och erfaren pilot..🔝🔝🔝😎
outstanding video! Great work and great flying with this powerful jet
Gunnar Bolmsjö Thanks :)

Thank you Sweden. Viggen in HD!

One of my faves.
Was the Ram Air Turbine deployed for the entire flight? Beautiful aircraft, thanks for posting!
The RAT on the Viggen deploys automatically when the nose wheel touches down. You can clearly see the RAT is stowed during the display. (4:51)
Fantastic film beautiful airplane.
João Faria Thank you :)
If I should describe this marvel, using a woman's body, I would use Agnetha Faltskog: tall, strong, with a wonderfull rear and most important, beautiful and swedish.
Yes thank you for no annoying music!
Viggens were the only aircraft to get acknowledged radar locks on SR-71
Is it, for real ? Man, that was a big difference...
Mycket fina bilder. Bra vinkel där i början och på slutet. *tumme upp*
langhammars Tackar!
Meanest looking fighter jet ever. Afterburner sounds like a rocket. Awesome!!!
This is by far the best Viggen video I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing this. Great filming :-) And the Viggen is such an almighty aircraft - good to see it preserved and displayed in this way! Thumbs up 100%!
The swedes knows how to build a gorgeous aircraft. The draken, and the viggen are my favorites
Does its nose sting like a "Bee" also?
A little, just a little. ;)
Flying Griffins hahaha
gripen's father
Yes, but some aspect the viggen is better.
Os caças mais bonitos: Viggen e MiG-21...!!!
Sounds like a rocket
This thing sounds soooo sweet 😄😄😄
seems a lot bigger than gripen, maybe more of a bomber than fighter. but still a piece of art
This is the actual plane featured in the box art of Tamiya 1/100 scale model.
mikeB1920 That's the AJ version, this Viggen is AJS (Attack, Jakt & Spaning), with the S being Reconnaissance, so with an international version number it would be AFR (Attack, Fighter & Reconnaissance).
Cold war era fighter jet, massive Engine modified similar to comercial airliner Dc-9 with an after burner.
@@johanedenberg3533 I always wondered if you could go supersonic by using that engine with afterburner on the DC-9!
God bless the "Sweds"
What camera did you film this with?
What camera did you use?? tnx
Criminal Monkey I have many cameras but in this video i used Sony Fdr-ax1 and Sony Rx10 mk3. Thanks :)
Super!
father of gripen
gripen's father
I am fond of many fighters, but I have only one favorite. Thor. Beautifully shot, some questionable editing....
Varför snurrar "rat" när den taxar in?
Nais👍
ñice video
A rocket with steering
'
nice pretty plane...
just wonder why need 4 wheels on the floor plane wing
It's a big, heavy plane. It is also designed to be able to make hard landings on pretty much ordinary country roads in case of war, using the reverse jet blast which also takes a toll.
ruclips.net/video/pLPrnc8GNPU/видео.html check this video and you can see what martin716 is talking about
okay thank M explain...
look at F-16 have only 3 wheels...
1 front floor and 2 rear floor
thank IN...
finish view the video...
that AJS 37 Viggen plane is 3 small wheels and need extra wheels...
F-16 is only 3 wheels
Viggen weigh 2 ton more than F-16, F-16 needs 2 kilometers to land, Viggen can land within 400 meters, the pressure on the tyres is just insane, they needed to compensate for that.
Jonathan Sundgren Riktigt bra Panasonickamera :)
