My vote is for the baby hemi. An old hotrodder I knew who recently passed only ran those Desoto hemis back in the 50's. When he passed he was driving his '36 Ford pickup with a 472 Caddie mill. He died at a car show. In his garage he was working on a Model A todor with a Buick straight 8. By the way he was in a wheel chair. RIP Pete.
My wife was on the couch watching gun smoke on the tv while i watched this video on my phone. She overheard some of your saying's and laughed at them all and ask where is that goofy guy from. Don't be surprised if she doesn't subscribe as well 😁👍
Just discovered this channel recently ,love it already. I do similar things in my shop all day and then come in the house at night and watch similar channels till i go to bed ,im 72 years old and let me tell ya this ant no hobby its an ADDICTION haven't watched tv in over 8 years don't miss a lick off it. youtube, ya ga da love it, watch what you want, when you want. One off my best friends just finished a 41 stude gasser in the last few years 327 4 spd good looking car .Between him and i we got about 10 old studes, there neet cars. ia;m rooting for the hemi in this build . anyway carry on i'll enjoy the ride
Keep crankin em out Puddin. Great narrating voice and singing. One of the best voices on the ole RUclips. I said to myself, this guy has got to be a machinist.
I'm in las vegas and I've got a hot rod buddy also building a 1941 stude gasser, I built a 1948 stude pickup with 1952 front clip with a 350 chevy and 700r4 trans with camaro rear end. I love Sudebakers, I also built 1955 2 dr hardtop president, kept the v8 in it and coverted a T5 trans and stude posi rear. Both were show stoppers.
Sweet Gasser project! I like how you are keeping the build traditional. More power to ya ! Go with either Olds motor. How bout locating a 9.3 Olds/Pontiac rearend. They’re not too hard to find. Looking forward to your next posting.
That Studey will turn out great...and at a fraction of the price of a Willys coupe. OK. That Hemi is small but it is a HEMI and will look great in that jalopy....Thanks for the great how to and narrating. I can almost taste the moonshine when you talk your southernerererer!!!
the stude is really shaping up already! thanks for the tip about figuring out spring perch location. i'm new to building and need to figure out where to punt the rear end spring mounts. already have the spring. my vote is for one of the olds engines.
the early 2wd willys wagons had the same style front suspension as your stude.....im building a gasser out of my 49 willys wagon using a early ford axle with chrome hair pins cause the spring mounts the same on both....kicks the nose up....period correct solution....shoving a pontiac 389 offy intake with 6 strombergs....
Love your videos and your builds. I really love the old school traditional hot rods. Do you watch the iron trap guys they build some really cool cars as well. Anyway keep building them and I will definitely keep watching. See you next Monday Puddin creek
The early Mopar 8.75 Rear ends until 64, had these stupid tapered drum brake center bolt type deal. Love the car and love the idea of going period correct. A cool option would be the Olds/Pontiac 9 3/4 rear.
Traditional 🤔 ??? 57 Olds rear Axle& Rocket olds motor 😉👍 Garlits Special...from the 60's ran a Old's rear axle.... Save the DeSoto Firedom for an open roadster or a Boattail Speedster?? Display with DeSoto Pride 😉👍✌️🍻
John I agree with you about that 276 desoto. In about 1978, I purchased a 62 Fargo pickup, with that exact engine swapped in. The intake was adapted to accept a small Carter 4bbl. I learned quickly to never get in a race situation and just smile quietly when someone started going on about how fast it was. Yep put it in a little light car.
Man that's cool. Just subscribed. Don't know how you guys find this old iron. I can't even find a 9" for my F100 and it's a late model (70s). Your uncle's car is awesome. Are you going to keep the keyed hubs on the 8 3/4 or swap to later axles? You oughtta run one of the Olds engines and a hydro. Especially if you could find a hydrostick. My grandfather used to race a '57 Chevy in stock before the year rule and started the car when they still were allowed hydros, had to switch to a 3-speed after. IIRC, my other grandfather street raced a '63 Catalina 389 or 421 hydro. Noticed a few years ago there were a lot of cars then with early ford axles instead of tube axles. Glad someone isn't going with the 1-800 parts. WC Custom does build a nice axle, though.
Man, you've got a lot of good-looking engines there. But I really like the HIMI. Not too sure about your Buget for this Gasser, but I do believe I'd punch-out the HIMI far enough as to where you'd be able to do one more rebuild and build the engine with some good old hot-rod parts and accessories. Youknowwhatimean..? ⛽Gasser Right.😁
The late model olds. Bruce Larson started his drag racing career with a little coupe with an olds engine clledMr Clean, I think he ran b/gas , this was in the late 50,s and early 60's. I am sure you can find pictures .
Stance looks great! But a Mopar rear axle? Maybe one of the big late 50s to early '60s Olds or Pontiac rear axles would be a more nostalgic choice, wadda you think?
Had a buddy in high school his dad had the same year studabaker candy apple red olds motor. I will also note that his dad was friends with ohio George Montgomery. No garage kept the car in the basement. Fun times.
I think that the height suit backer looks just right go with the hemi engine. I think it’ll look good in there as far as the coffee Jeremiah Johnson drink his coffee black it’s the only way to go.

If she’s watching Gun Smoke, she’s a good one!
Yep she's a keeper .
Put up with my shenanigans for 40 years in May .
Chinesium is the new magnesium. Love the way you narrate your videos. Your channel has quickly become my favourite.

i think what you did is spectacular!!! i like it a lot!!!! good job!!! keep up the good work!!!
more videos please!!!
Dr Olds.❤ a bunch of duces on top.
324 Olds, with #10 heads, 471 blower, and a Hilborn 2 port, backed with a LaSalle trans or a Hydro stick auto.
Keep crankin em out Puddin. Great narrating voice and singing. One of the best voices on the ole RUclips. I said to myself, this guy has got to be a machinist.
Hemi and gasser go hand in hand as my memory goes. My memories were born in the 60's.
I'm in las vegas and I've got a hot rod buddy also building a 1941 stude gasser, I built a 1948 stude pickup with 1952 front clip with a 350 chevy and 700r4 trans with camaro rear end. This build calls for a HEMI!!!!!!
the stude is really shaping up already! thanks for the tip about figuring out spring perch location. i'm new to building and need to figure out where to punt the rear end spring mounts. already have the spring.
my vote is for one of the olds engines.
Brother I knew you're a master machinist and one heck of a hot rod builder but I had no idea you had one heck of a singin' voice!
😂😂😂🙏🙏🙏
You make it very hard .... all them motors are grate in there own ,,,,, I do love olds rocket .. Not to heavy.
Junior Thompson would be proud of you!😎
I believe I'd go with one of the Olds motors ! ...Newk from Kentucky

Awesome stuff 👍
Back about 70, I bought a 1940 Ford 2 door businessman coupe. The front axle was tubular
Good stuff. It’s coming right along. Gotta go with the big Olds.imho. Happy New Year to the Puddn Creek crew.😊
Happy New Year!

Well for what it's worth my choice would be the '55 Olds . I think it would be the best candidate for being period correct..
My vote would be for the Hemi or the 2nd Olds engine
Had a buddy in high school his dad had the same year studabaker candy apple red olds motor. I will also note that his dad was friends with ohio George Montgomery. No garage kept the car in the basement. Fun times.
I bet that was a sharp car!
55 Olds !

Use the engine that has the best cam profile. It's all about flow.

You s the rocket motor
Did you get that engine from Wayne Wallen from Hancock County?
One of the Rocket motors would work, but tempting to build a Hemi for it!
394 Olds Rocket engine.
Baby Hemi!
Are you related to The Hot Rod Hoarder?
No. Not that I know of. Lol
I vote for the Hemi.
55 Olds
Put that dang hemi in there
What r u thinking
Not gunna have to do much
