I love watching it. It's not like watching someone playing musical instrument, more like watching a mother brushing her daughter's hair. I find it comforting
this is a beautiful analogy because in the black community our hair is very important to us. a lot of our first memories as children is of our mothers, fathers, uncles, aunties, brothers, and sisters brushing and combing our hair. I can definitely imagine alice with the beautiful hair she has is subconsciously treating the harp as she would a childs hair if not intentionally.
This is one of those videos i come back to listen to over and over and over again. This is nothing short of a masterpiece she was another gift from the universe 🙏🏼
Wow. I'm as blown away as when I heard this decades ago. Her expression is both competently musical and truly spiritual. Alice Coltrane is the real deal.
Musically gifted she plays so fluidly also thanks to her gifted husband and after we're all gone someone in the distant future will be listening to this in admiration too 🎶💜
Any idea where I can get a copy? I've looked all over -- "Inner Path" (online) was the only place I found, and they cancelled my order -- said they don't have any of her books available :(
Total revelation discovering this musician by chance - I love the harp, and it is great to hear outside of its usual orchestral context. Just look at those hands, man!
This performance should not be interrupted by a commercial! please, put the commercial at the beginning or at the end, but not right in the middle of her performance! Thank you!
Bible verse ”And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took a harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.“ 1 Samuel 16:23
When I want to travel to the ends of the earth I listen to John Coltrane.....but when I need to leave the planet...I listen to Alice.
Agreed
Her music is sublime and spiritual
🤣🤣🤣🙃
My sentiments, ❤exactly!!!

this is one of my top 5 comment threads on RUclips if not my favorite
So childlike. Her expressions...the way she plays...it's as if she's discovering and rediscovering herself over and over again. Absolutely fantastic
That's God, to have us back in that pure childlike wonder
Giving back to the universe
Exactly !
She doesn’t just play her harp, she speaks through it
this always brings tears to me. this sounds like a prayer we're invited to listen to.
It must’ve FELT AMAZING being in that room!!!

No one like her! 💗🎶
This soothes the soul even the background noises the person taking over all blends in like it was part of the composition.
Thank you Alice

One of my favs! Had to go back to my playlist and realized the video was removed! Glad I found it again on a different channel.
Y’all gotta read her book “Monument Eternal”, Alice is on a whole nother plane of existence 🙌🏿

It's available at Amazon.
@@mikeu5380 Is it difficult to understand?
Franya J. Berkman (R.I.P.) wrote "Monument Eternal," about Coltrane (as her doctoral thesis).
@@monsterjazzlicks I've yet to read it...
Wow! I didn’t realise she’d played outside her Ashram after the late 70’s until just before she died. Wonderful!
Her life was truly a gift to this planet. ❤
Sublime!

I want someone to love me as much as a harp loves to see Alice coming 🥺

Honestly, John C don't deserve her!
Yeah...dunno what anyone else is hearing, but that was a disaster. Sounds like Yoko Ono singing.
That was really horrible.
Your comment, 'mijo? Yup. Sad, too. What are you creating in life besides negativity?
