I was coming down off of an anxiety attack listening to Journey In Satchnidananda in the shower it dawned on me. No matter how awful this world is, she was here, and it’s worth it.
Don, I hear you with my heart
I resonate with your truth as it's parallel and interwind with my own experience for over 45 years and this is just Magnetic. Thank you for sharing. We're the lucky ones aren't we?
Well said, friend. And I bet she would say no matter how awful this world is, YOU were here, and it's worth it.
I loved this exchange, thank you to all of you.🙏🏾
thank you
She was amazing. I think her piece "Turiya and Ramakrishna" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
That song revealed her to be a genius imo
I feel the same about that piece ❤ in terms of it being one of the most beautiful pieces of music...
i love the song "A Love Supreme".
This performance begins with a solo bass reading of Wise One, after Alice's introductions they go into Africa, then after the drum solo, at around 20 mins, they play Leo.
There some afro blue in there
Mr Hanes plays the “drums”, with his whole body, a magical performance by All 🥁🎷🎹🎼🪘🙏🏿✊🏿
Wow I thought that was Coltrane for a second, his son really looks like him! John must be so proud!
not with those clothes haha
Transcendental, spiritual music, honoring ‘Trane.
Alice Coltrane, a preternaturally gifted jazz pianist, had been 12:34 exploring eastern religions since the days of her marriage to John Coltrane, from when the couple began meditating together. After his death in 1967, though, her solo career explicitly embraced an expanding faith. She learned how to play the harp, incorporated Indian instruments and drones into her music, collaborated with fellow mystics like Pharoah Sanders, and made a series of albums, like World Galaxy and Universal Consciousness, that imbued jazz with a questing, devotional imperative. Mr. ROY HAYNES.
This touches your inner being...it takes you to another place...
Wow. That intro by Reggie!
This is as real as it gets. No words can express the love and magnitude for all things considered. One way or the other. This is the gift to the Universe to say the least. Gift!
Thank you
Occured to me watching this is something very closely related to magic manifested from collective spirits across time.
Masterful,Spiritual giants on stage creating magic 🎼
One of the great vituoso artists of her time and all time.

I'm 7 minutes into this and 'Africa' is just so beautiful 😍
Master Percussionist Roy Haynes. Theme Of The Underground Railroad , then Leo.
One of my favorite songs. A very under appreciated piece.
a much appreciated piece
Great Reggie
❤, despite the annoying advertising interrupting the music. Simply ingore and let it take you to another place just transcend.
Um...I don't have that problem. Why? IT'S. CALLED. RUclips. PREMIUM! $11.99 a month. Don't whine about ads because you're too cheap to pay to get rid of them! Tacky!!!!
PERIODT.

Wow! Such a well constructed, passionate critique ... a delight to read. Thank you! R (Australia)
wow this is nice, my father you play this song over and over - Angel of Air Angel of Water by Miss Aliice from the 70s.
That was the most incredible hi-hat solo ever performed - perhaps the only one ever performed?
No. Max Roach. Papa Jo Jones.
AMAZING! Seeing the magic come together like this is spectacular
the melody reggie plays at the beginning is wise one from crescent (1964)
just shredding scales up and down in every piece....
beautiful
Chills….. keep chasing me. Keep it comin🤍🎼
Thank you for creating this RUclips site . Your exposing a lot of people, like me, who were unaware of Alice's brilliant and beautiful music.
Mad drumming.
Alice’s joy in playing with her son adds another dimension to the music

I don't need a damn mind-altering chemical to enjoy this spiritually activating music and neither do you! Get high on life!
@@thecapricorn11 Yes. I am also addicted to it. But I listen to music without needing caffeine. That's my point. I don't act like it's cute to need to use something to do something else.
@@thecapricorn11 I don't rag about taking it to enjoy this transcendent bliss-music. 🙏
Splendid!
Who is watching this in 2023?? #ClassicSpiritualJazz
Thank you.

GOSH
The strength of the chords on the right side. Is that shadow, light, or scar tissue?
🎧🙏
How come this doesn't the same as John Coltraine's Song of the Underground Railroad?
☝🏿
That should be MUCH longer. Anyone knows it is always time to practice your scales!

Sim!!!!!
😱
I Think it be nice to have a bass clarinetist to add more flavor. Although, this is very "tasty", as is.
