The e6 was designed as a utility vehicle with a significant eye to the taxi market, and uses a much smaller permanent magnet synchronous motor, and LFP batteries because performance was less important than range. The (designed much later than the e6) Tesla model 3 made largely the same design choices that BYD had previously - but that's not because Tesla copied BYD, it's simply that the choices that BYD made in the e6 and Tesla made in the model 3 make a lot of sense for the target market.
