It’s because he’s the only one who wasn’t viewing van dijk from a football twitter meme perspective. also, the Football Daily cast consistently know nothing about Liverpool.
Iniesta scored winning goal in the World Cup final in Spain’s first ever win. And scored that stoppage time winner against Chelsea in CL semi for Peps first CL win. But the lads say he’s not an impact player. Put respect on his name!
this is my absolute FAVOURITE FD show no others comes close 😂 just LOVE watching the likes of Pato, Dougie, McCubs and even Henry duke it out with words
Its not fair to talk about Foden not palying a starring role in a PEP team. A guy who rotates everyone, no matter how good they are. I think Foden has benefitted all he can from Pep, i think hed be world class and fullfill his potential under somebody else, who would give him a consistent precise position. Exactly what he needs. Btw if Foden was in that Bayern team, he would do the same if not better than musiala. Being a player like that, a young player, is insanely difficult under pep cause he simply loves to rotate, and adpat.
“Stepped up in major tournaments” & has Iniesta to be released. 😂😂 Scored the only goal in the World Cup final to win it for Spain & scored the winner against Chelsea away in the last minute to send them through in the CL they ended up winning.
Pep ‘doesn’t trust foden’ your forgetting the last 5 years. Foden was the main false 9 for 2 years at city which only Messi was trusted with by pep. Foden isn’t even playing in his position (10) and he is world class. Once KDB goes you will see the real foden. Btw foden is a huge huge champions league player
No issues with people calling Van Dijk overrated. Though I do find it amusing when someone says he is only great because he has Alisson. Before that injury, if you called Alisson the best goalkeeper in the world, the pushback would have been he is only great because he has Van Dijk in front of him. That being said, saying he isn't great because he hasn't transformed the Dutch national team is a bit rich, especially from an English man. I never heard anyone use that same argument when talking about the likes of Rio, Terry, Lampard, Ashley Cole, Gerrard, Rooney, Scholes etc. And those England teams were far more talented than this era of Dutch teams.
Dougie is struggling to understand that no one in the general public views Enzo as a 100m player, however the average fan will use it to downplay him, which is WHY hes underrated.
Been watching football long enough to agree with Henry's shout. Zidane was outstanding when the spotlight was on, but was inconsistent otherwise. Iniesta and Xavi were far more consistent over the course of their careers. We have footballers like Zidane and Ronaldinho on a pedestal as some of the greatest based on their peaks, and not their average.
Foden is definitely underrated at this point. The players that were mentioned during his arguments like Saka, Pedri, Bellingham, etc. haven't even played at the highest levels yetx whereas Foden was one of the main reasons why City went to the 2021 UCL final, similarly he had one of the biggest impact in the 21/22 season. People forget that Foden has had to compete with Sterling, Mahrez, Bernardo, Sane, Jesus and now Grealish for game time in a Pep Guardiola side, whereas there's zero competition for Saka in the Arsenal side. If you change clubs, Foden would still have the same impact in that system if not better as Saka and Saka eould also not start week in week out at City. Also, you know with Saka that he can essentially only play RW (similar to Mahrez), while Foden has literally played across the entire front 3 throughout his career.
Saka literally started as a left winger for Arsenal has also played left wing back, and centre mid, so that puts that part of your argument to bed. Does Saka have competition for England??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Oh that's right, he does and one of the players he's keeping out of that team on merit, is your boy Foden. Thank you and good night. 😛
City are just impossible to judge because every season they have a different guy who is the key, every year the system changes and different players become important and different players come on the bench
I’m fine w people calling Foden overrated, everyone is entitled to their beliefs, but that guy saying “he hasn’t shown up in every season”, buddy, first of all he got injured, second of all he led city to the UCL in 20/21, carried city through crucial games in 21/22 for the prem title (Brentford, Everton, etc.) and lastly look at who he competes with… I still think he’s better than Saka, but again that’s my belief, but acting like Saka, after one good season, is light years ahead, is bs
Personally I think Zidane is one of the greatest footballers of all time, I was actually really surprised that everyone didn’t have him top of their whiteboards.
on his day absolutely one of the best to ever do it but the consistency point definitely has weight, some people have him in the top 10 of all time convo which is a bit ridiculous but for sure deserves to be considered on a similar level to xavi
This was my first time watching you guys and let me say that starting with that midfield impossible choice immediately glued me to the rest of the conversation
Dougie is an exceptional presenter but a horrendous debater. Constantly harps on and gets too impassioned about irrelevant points. Hard to listen to him debate but love him otherwise
Dougie's point about Enzo being overrated because being overprized works only if the question is: "Did Chelsea overrate Enzo?" But since the question is "Is he generally overrated?", it does not work. Let us assume that a Saudi Club paid 200 millions Euro for Modric, then people would not jump to the conclusion that Modric had been overrated in general but that this club paid too much (I am not taking into account publicity and shirt sales, just football-wise). Also, the point should have gone to Pat since it was him who insisted on the fact that Dougie was too much relying on the argument: overprized, therefore overrated.
Was really tired today so i fell asleep listenin to this vid, only to get abruptly woken up by the boys sbouting at each other about what the word "overrated" means, good shit guys, this is why i subbed.
On the VVD conversation, it was brought up that Terry is considered one of the greates defenders to ever play in the Premier League, is it possible to make the point that Terry's defensive numbers would never be as good as they were due to Cech being Chelseas' goalkeeper, just as the argument is being made that VVD is at best good because of what Allison does for Liverpool? After all, England achieved SFA with Ferdinand and Terry as the linchpins of the defensive line for years, so if VVDs' international career is used against him, why not with Ferdinand or Terry? Ultimately this is an argument of opinion, and it's hard to say VVD was overrated last season when everyone online was at best saying he was as good as maguire, and far more often simply a finished waste of space that is useless defensively.
Regarding Enzo I actually think he is both Under and over. He was overrated by the club & staff that signed him (hence the fee as he wasn’t worth that fee) but underrated by general fan as they’ve shat on him because of his price & seem to over look his quality.
Yeah pretty much, he was overpriced at £107m but on the other hand he’s a fantastic player who if you take the price and bias of rivalry away is a top quality player for a guy in his position for his age.
Even the club dont overrate him. They wanted him and just overpaid for him. U r making the same argument dougie make which are less relevant than the argument for underrated
Undoubtedly had a bad season as well as Liverpool as a whole but people have forgotten too quickly that it took nearly a year for Van Dijk to be dribbled past even once while also hitting cross field passes like it was nothing
@@EminentKnight and then took a Championship left back at the time (Robbo), a young center back in his first season in Europe (Gomez), a midfielder academy graduate turn fullback because of injuries (TAA), and Loris Karius, to a Champions League Final the very next. Take a seat next question
Amazing player, but that dribbling stat was bollocks. He got beaten numerous times that didn't count as dribbles, and was infamous for just constantly backing off instead of actually going for a tackle.
@@anotherguy3082 I agree, but that goes back to FD’s arguments, it was very system based. While Robbo pushed up the field, VVD had to sweep. I think in another system he gets dribbled past more often, but for a defense that nobody expected to do anything, he changed that team entirely. He was the guy that got Klopp to implement his “heavy metal football”
Regarding the u21 tournament question only one of the 3 players lit up the CL in terms of G/A but also recognition (clapped by madrid fans at the Bernabeu) Mudryk disrespect is sickening just because he arrived in January mind you to a subpar chelsea side that was in shambles and disarray
Foden is better than Saka Foden is heavily underrated. People think Grealish is going to start over him, he was injured last season most of the time. But he is still the third top scorer for city last season. Foden may not be good in England national team and foden last season never played a lot, ppl now see Grealish up there having his redemption season. But Foden is one of the best young talents in England, still. So rn people might say he is over rated, saka is better than him. But overall, foden is better than saka and he is very underrated because ppl think he didn't had a massive impact like saka, even though foden has two or three young player of the year awards. Shows that he is still good no matter what
The knock against Iniesta and big games not taking over is kinda flawed, he's the only player in history to win MOTM in a CL, WC and Euro final, and if you watch back those games, it was rightfully deserved, he was incredible and aside from Zidane, I haven't seen a more technically gifted MF in the past 20 years than him, his dribbling was almost on par with Messi in his prime, he was unbelievable, and I also think that Iniesta could do everything Xavi could, but yeah I'll admit not as good as Xavi in some regards, but Xavi could not do everything Iniesta did
Respect VVD please I find it disrespectful. No CB will EVER touch his peak that’s why people call him the greatest. Sure Terry and Ferdinand for longevity and consistency but they would never touch Van dijks peak level. Plus they didn’t have social media scrutinising every little move he makes micro analysing him for normal things. Last season was a drop of but people forgetting his 21/22 season after his ACL where we were so close to a quadruple? Poor from Dougie and Henry and Mcubbin.
I like the rated segment but I do think we need to add a ‘perfectly rated’ section, Enzo in my opinion is no way either over or under rated so I feel like they’re all talking waffle
Saying Saka over Foden is a bit harsh since i think Foden actually has a much higher skill ceiling than Saka. Pep has said over and over that he loves Phil and that the reason he is not getting a lot of minutes is because he is to jumpy (lack of a better term) with the ball, he always wanted to attack and never really wants to slow the ball down, something Pep HAS to have in his team. That and he loses possession to easily because of him trying to go forward all the time, Pep has said he sees him as a mid-fielder in the future but he has to get more expirience and knowladge of the position. What we have seen from Foden the small glimpeses of what he can become in the mid-field role is something even better than Bellingham, Foden a guy that is very quick, really good close dribble, great flair to beat players and vision to pick a pass to decide if he should get it to his feet or ahead, these are all things we have seen from Foden and if he can put it all together (Pep is hoping) he can easily become one of the best mid-fielders of all time, only problem with it is he needs to use all of it at once, showing glimpeses is simply not enough. Now Saka does not have the skill ceiling Foden has, he is a great player but Foden can go down as one of the best of all time
Agenda because Mount is a PR sweetheart and Mudryk comes across as a big arrogant. Tbh I give both the benefit of the doubt and many other Chelsea players after hearing what was going on inside the club last season. Unsupervised gym sessions where players had no workout plans and just winged it, a squad so big that we couldn’t divide playing time fairly so players got fed up and a toxic environment was created and couldn’t even all fit in a dressing room. Football is a fickle reactionary sport.
Bruh Foden had like 3 injuries and his appendix out last season of course he wasn't a starter the whole time, and btw his per 90 stats are FAR higher than Saka's
Think this should would do better with a second judge. That way each judge can award 1 point to who they think had the best argument each round. It would even out the scoring method. And probably help with Zach’s indecisive awarding of points 😂
Team talk is undefeated, I love that they are getting all of the FD and EFD on it! Cant wait to Hamil back around the table having to justify his wild claims😂
The VvD criticism is genuinely a rewriting of history at this point. No one was saying he was the best CB of all time in the Prem and he actually had a massive effect on LFC when he joined. People seem to forget how good he was and still can be when the team in front of him isn’t a disjointed. Ridiculous to see how fast people can change their opinion and rewrite history in their minds on one season 😂
Think the point is he had a really good season so people carried that over to his next seasons where he was poor and we’re still rating him soo highly and using the past when in current time he was really awful
baldy wasnt giving a single valid answer as to why enzo is overrated lol. dude was just being stubborn like a brat lol. 120 mill for a player thats 21, already elite and can only get better, and its over 8 years lmaooo
Foden was amazing first half of the season. Second half he had multiple injuries preventing him from a good run of games to allow him to get some form going. Calling foden overrated is a testament to the guys not having a clue of his season. Even when he played he managed to get a better g/a per 90 than saka.
You can see why debating whether someone is underrated/overrated is ultimately futile: nobody can agree on how someone is rated in the first place! Fun, but futile.
I think with the U21 discussion both Henry and the other three were right, tbh. Henry based his argument on what a player has been over a couple of seasons and the trio based their argument on what a player could be in a couple of seasons. And as a Gunner myself, I don't expect ESR to be a superstar. But at the same time, Cherki wouldn't be the first young attacker from Ligue 1 that is set up to be a superstar after one season and floped/had a massive decline two seasons after, i.e. Dembele and Pepe.
To be fair I think they meant “breaking through” as in becoming a known quality player, but yeah people tend to think xavi only started playing well when pep came in which isn’t true
From someone who watched early 2000s football, Zidane's time at Real Madrid was overrated. Good moments, but inconsistent as they said and he was wrongly considered one of the top 2 or 3 players in the world during.that time. Think he won the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2003 ahead of Henry and didn't even finish inside the top 3 for the Ballon d'Or. Also, Xavi had been around the Barca first team since the 98-99 season, his longevity was unreal.
dougie had a howler w that mudryk argument. “mudryk had 6 incredible matches in the UCL” followed by “it’s unfair to judge him off of 6 months”. so instead of the 6 months we’ve seen him play in consistent top 5 league football (admittedly for a shite chelsea team) we are meant to judge him on 6 games… and agreement he also used against smith rose for only having a half season purple patch?
This show is always so consistently good, and Zac's point allocation consistently makes no sense at all 🤣

Yeah he was almost playing as third attacker alongside Sanchez and Messi. Fabregas is hella underrated these days.
One of my favorite players but it’s sad they couldn’t fit both him and Thiago. They should’ve left him at Arsenal
I remember when Pato called Foden “just some bloke” when he was first coming through at City😂Glad he’s stayed true to his opinion
Said the same about Bernardo Silva too…

I like the rated segment but I do think we need to add a ‘perfectly rated’ section, Enzo in my opinion is no way either over or under rated so I feel like they’re all talking waffle
Dougie has had some rogue shouts recently
So Dougie says don't judge Mudryk on past 6 months but then precedes to talk about Cherki having lit up this Lyon side for 6 months.
I love when people can just listen to each others arguments😎
Now Saka does not have the skill ceiling Foden has, he is a great player but Foden can go down as one of the best of all time
Iniesta big game & technical credentials seriously underrated in this one.
Football Daily Elite content. The 4 debating with Zach mediating, I don’t think there’s a better line up
Crazy to give mount the benefit of the doubt with playing on a bad chelsea team and not mudryk
I SWEAR I click one these as fast I can so that they know the interest rate is up, I don't wanna lose this series again lads
The smith row disrespect is crazy, and thats coming from a Chelsea fan
Saying someone who has barely kicked a ball, is not at hot of a prospect as Rayan Cherki, is not disrespect.
@@anotherguy3082 barely kicked a ball? You must of barely started watching futbol this year then
Love the arguing 😅
Team talk is undefeated, I love that they are getting all of the FD and EFD on it! Cant wait to Hamil back around the table having to justify his wild claims😂
McCubbin and Henry singing the Onana song 🤣😂
The VvD criticism is genuinely a rewriting of history at this point. No one was saying he was the best CB of all time in the Prem and he actually had a massive effect on LFC when he joined. People seem to forget how good he was and still can be when the team in front of him isn’t a disjointed. Ridiculous to see how fast people can change their opinion and rewrite history in their minds on one season 😂
No one claims he was the best in prem ? Seems like u r the one who is rewriting history.
Fun, but futile.
here for another round of Dougie howlers
I think with the U21 discussion both Henry and the other three were right, tbh. Henry based his argument on what a player has been over a couple of seasons and the trio based their argument on what a player could be in a couple of seasons. And as a Gunner myself, I don't expect ESR to be a superstar. But at the same time, Cherki wouldn't be the first young attacker from Ligue 1 that is set up to be a superstar after one season and floped/had a massive decline two seasons after, i.e. Dembele and Pepe.
Guys, you should know how the recruitment process works at a top club. You're experts after all. Just watch some All or Nothing episodes.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing PSG midfielder Marco Verratti
Xavi literally made his debut at 18. Did I seriously hear someone suggest he was 24?
To be fair I think they meant “breaking through” as in becoming a known quality player, but yeah people tend to think xavi only started playing well when pep came in which isn’t true
Dougie genuinely a nonce
Completely agree with Henry on Smith Rowe over Cherki. People always overrate young prospects from Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga
About Foden you cannot use his England career as an Example since Phillips and Maguire start though not for their teams, but Rashford doesn't.
Also, Xavi had been around the Barca first team since the 98-99 season, his longevity was unreal.
favourite fd show🙏
30:26 the song 😂😂😂
Benfica sets huge release clauses because we do NOT want to sell them, we don't want teams to steal our players mid season
Lord this is great….Zac’s point scoring is incredibly questionable though 😂
never disappoint
Mudryk also had just left a country at war, everyone forgets that part
dougie had a howler w that mudryk argument.
“mudryk had 6 incredible matches in the UCL” followed by “it’s unfair to judge him off of 6 months”.
so instead of the 6 months we’ve seen him play in consistent top 5 league football (admittedly for a shite chelsea team) we are meant to judge him on 6 games… and agreement he also used against smith rose for only having a half season purple patch?
just had to mark sam's work as an example at MAMA youth, really small world! had no idea he started off here
Arnaut Danjuma has agreed to join Everton on a loan deal from Villarreal
agree with Henry regarding Zidane, think he had incredible moments but not as consistent as other great midfielders
To be fair, Henry put up a great arguement about his ESR shout - and a lot of Dougie’s counters were irrelevant. Defo should have got the point!!
