Restaurant meals are definitely more expensive (on average, not in every case) in Toronto. (Statistics Canada produces really detailed data about this kind of thing, and its 2024 data shows a significant cost premium in Toronto for restaurants). Car insurance is also higher in Ontario. Some things are more expensive in Halifax though, including gas, sales taxes and groceries. Overall the cost of living is still lower than in Toronto, but it's definitely escalated quickly in the past few years.
