  • Even if it is just a short cruise or anchor-out, we like to get off the dock as much as possible. In this video we go to a nearby anchorage and show you how we launch, set, and retrieve our anchor. The link to the tide graph App: www.tidegraph.... You can get it for IOS and Android, just search "Tide Graph" in the app store. And the anchor alarm app is called "Drag Queen," and again you can find it in IOS and Android app stores.

    I am really enjoying your channel. So glad I found it. It is great that you are sharing your knowledge. You explain things well. Your channel is both entertaining and educational. Amira adds just the right touch of humor. I predict your channel will gain a large following. I love the boat and you two guys, truly awesome.
    I restored a 1974 24 foot Yankee Seahorse, which I keep at a slip on a freshwater lake. When I am not working on a boat, my truck, or my cabin, I write humorous short stories, but not all that well.

    Ahoy maties !!! You two complement each other. She is playful and you are the strong seaman type. Also your videos are professionally done, good audio and video. Like how sea worthy your trawler looks. Admire how resourceful and self reliant you are learning to do all those repairs. St. Pete is about 100 miles South of us. Glad I found your channel.

    Greetings from a chilly, Autumnal UK. I’ve only just discovered your wonderful channel, what an informative, nicely presented channel you have. It’s good to understand the basics which you explain very well, so when my Euromillions win (£169mio tonight!) comes in I’d be confident to anchor my trawler now!

      What a delightful message to receive this morning, I am very happy you have stumbled across my channel from across the channel, Andrew. I appreciate the feedback, and I look forward to seeing you out on the water aboard your dream trawler when you hit it big. And don’t forget me when you do, as I would be happy to be hired to help you get accustomed to your yacht.

    I am SO glad I found your channel. My husband and I are interested in pursuing life on a trawler once the last of our children goes off to college. We have about 5 years until that happens and hope to learn as much as we can in the meantime. Your videos are priceless. I hope you keep making them so that we can learn and find resources. Amira is darling. She is a ray of sunshine and adds joy to the informative videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them. ...from Kim in Michigan

    Keep this up guys. So informative. Not often you come across a young experienced captain and a newbie on the same video so appreciated. This is my plan upon retiring in 8 years. my experience involves my parents driveway built houseboat on a lake in the Midwest. Studying hard. Yours is one of my favorite vessels also considering older Kadey Krogens. Keep em coming.

    Your videos are a great mix of boating experience (Butch) along with a first mate (Amira) who is early on the learning curve... We (my wife and I) are retired and in the process of figuring out exactly what trawler features are important to us so that we can narrow down our search. Looking forward to watching more of your videos in the future!

    Another informative video...wow, I wish you were on the west coast when I find a boat, so I could hire you to take a look. Your attention to detail shows. I keep learning and realize how far I need to go. I did fly jets for NASA so hoping that technical gene kicks in with boating, but that was may years ago. I do appreciate detail directed at the newbie!!

    • @AquaCultured
      @AquaCultured  7 лет назад +1

      Claire, that's so awesome that you flew for NASA! I am sure the technical attention to detail will translate very well in to boating. We travel around the country alot, so you never know, might be in your neck of the woods when you find a boat. We would be very happy to help.

    We saw your boat at the marina where you keep her, we were touring some other boats their for sale, I liked the Tolleycraft too. Love your channel I grew up in St Pete also, on Snell isle. My wife and I are looking to take to the seas now that the kids are older. We love the trollers to but I can never find a video showing them docking in the slips because I was wondering how hard is it to see

    • @AquaCultured
      @AquaCultured  6 лет назад

      Hi King tob, thanks so much for tuning in, and so sorry for the delay in responding. The difficulty docking a trawler varies from boat to boat. Some have better sightlines astern than others, some helms are forward, some are farther aft, some have a large covered aft deck, and some have a dinghy on the sundeck roof blocking view. Thank you for the idea, we will make note to produce a video covering the very subject sometime. Stay tuned!

    Our sailboat is in a private slip on Beaver Lake in Northwest Arkansas. Here is a photo of our boat. Copy and paste did not work. I'll have to figure out how to add a photo to my reply and try again. I could have added a link to my sailboat restoration blog, but I don't want people to think I'm advertising my books.

    Hi, I love your videos and the info you provide. But my question is ... I want to buy a boat next year and I know you are a Captain, and I dont know nothing about navigation. Can I contract your knowledge to learn how to navigate a boat ? If not can you point me to the right way in order to learn everything about boat navigation ?
    Thanks a lot.

      Thanks so much Vladimir! I would be glad to help you out when the time comes. In the meantime, I recommend you sign up for a Boating Skills and Seamanship class with a nearby Coast Guard Auxilliary, or a class with the United States Power Squadron. That will give you a good start! I recommend every boater takes one or more of those courses, no matter your experience level.

    Just curious...do Americans tend to fly their anchor ball (black ball) when at anchor? Generally most people do here in the UK. I was just curious if it was practiced in the US?

    • @AquaCultured
      @AquaCultured  7 лет назад

      The anchor ball is utilized in the US as well, all though it is rare to see on anything under 100ft, atleast from what I have seen. I typically only see it on boats with paid crew.

  • @MikeManning

    I really don't know much about boats yet, so with that in mind...how far could 900 gallons of fuel take you?

    • @AquaCultured
      @AquaCultured  7 лет назад +5

      Hi Mike Manning! It depends on how hard you are running the engines, what the current, wind and waves are doing, onboard weight, etc. But let's say for example that conditions are ideal, this vessel can take you 1,500 nautical miles. So theoretically, M/V Aqua-Cultured could make it to Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands on one load of fuel.
