  • In this video, we discuss the medication clonidine and its use in anxiety. Oftentimes providers will use a medication like clonidine as opposed to a benzodiazepine since clonidine is not addicting. However, it is important to remember that even clonidine comes with risks and in my opinion, should only be used short-term or sparingly as needed.

Great video, love your content! My personal experience with Clonidine has been great. I told my doctor a few years ago I wanted an alternative to benzos because I worried about relying on them too much. It’s been really great as a prn. The only thing I don’t love is the dry mouth 😝 but it’s a small price to pay for a med I only take once in awhile 👍🏻

Clonidine 0.1 brought my bp down for awhile. Last week they increased it to 0.2 mg. I immediately started getting very ill. Was admitted to ER last weekend with a bp of 288! The heart clinic had also added Carvedilol 12.5 mg. to regiment. Finally I refused to keep taking as prescribed and now beginning to recover. For a week now I have been very weak and shaky. At one point was holding on to the walls trying to go from room to room. Be very cautious taking Clonidine. No, I have been on benzos in the past, do not compare that to this medication. 😢

What if you just choose to be on a benzo cause you don't feel these drugs work well enough? If you're on Klonopin for 8 years like I was these pills are useless against panic attacks that make you feel like you're going to die. They might help like 10% and that's about it. Do we as patients have that right to go back on a drug if we were on them before and they worked?

    • @kss3837

Technically you don’t have a “right” to any medication, especially controlled meds like benzodiazepines.

@@kss3837 yeah you sound like all the idiot doctors and naive people. There are a ton of psychiatrists right here on RUclips that say the best way to come off these drugs is to slowly taper, not to detox in 5 days or 10 days. You really have no idea what kind of struggles people go through that get taken off these drugs too soon. Do you know the effects? Or are you just a hater? Why are you looking up videos about clonidine which is a blood pressure pill?

They work so hard for their license and then are afraid to prescribe what actually helps people. Then that leads to people buying stuff off the streets which nowadays is ten times more dangerous than the thing they are afraid to prescribe you. I mean these psychiatrists don't even know about protracted withdrawal syndrome. They'll just spend 5 minutes with you and put you on a ssri, which sorry, that don't help anxiety. Serotonin has nothing to do with the gaba receptors. I literally feel like I know more than these people nowadays. I got the same access to research they have.

I don't think anything truly HELPS it hurts you in the end unless you have an educated Dr like Dr jezel Rosa to properly give medications for actual disorders.
