Erik Voss rewatches Glass scene by scene for all the details you may have overlooked. How does director M Night Shyamalan pull from Marvel and DC comics to create an original superhero origin story? What is the hidden meaning behind the director's use of COLOR in the movie? How does Samuel L Jackson portray Mr. Glass as an homage to the Joker and villains from Breaking Bad? What is the mysterious organization that emerges in the Glass final scene, and how could it be based on the X-Men comics?

The reviews and audience action for Glass were pretty mixed. One might even say they were... split *puts on sunglasses*
Zackary Rall good one lol
this joke is unbreakable
drops mic...breaks glass
@@morph261 holy shit i hope that's a quote from the movie o.o
@@DickDiamond74 no its a play on the "breaks glass" thing you said. its stone cold steve Austins theme music's lyrics done by the band 'Disturbed'
Boooooo!
I do not think critics are being fair. Most "critics" dont like M. Night regardless of what he does. Yes he has made some bad movies, but overall I still think he is a good director. He takes risks and is willing to be original in a world where directors just rehash prepackaged crap to make a quick buck. I loved this movie and the ending absolutely worked for me. It got a reaction from me at the theater when I audibly said "whaaaaaaaa??" and gasped. Also, at least in the theater I was in, the audience applauded after the ending. The critics are shitting hard on this movie, but I hear that the actual moviegoers that have watched since Unbreakable actually like this movie. Go see it, folks! It is quite good!
I dont agree with most critics. This movie was perfectly in line with the universe Shamalamiganapam built. It was extremely refreshing to see superheroes portrayed in this light. And the mental game by Mr. Glass and Ms. Staples made me feel reminiscent of the battle between L and Light in the Death Note anime (not the Netflix movie, dammit). Id give this movie a B/B+ grade.
Savage Thanos agreed
No
It was a f*cking great movie. One of Shyamalans best movies. And Mcavoy deserves an oscar nomination, at least, for his performance
Carsten Kruse Mcavoy was amazing
Everything you just said was true
Carsten Kruse im going to have to disagree with you. McAvoy did a great job though!
I agree, it was amazing and people are pissed because it wasn't cliché.
For which one lol
Did anyone notice that when David came to "handle" the superman punch twins he used the sink or something with water running? Like he was softening his strength to not accidentally kill them.
oh yes, now i understand, i thought that he was cleaning his boots
Phenomenal observation! That makes me appreciate the details in this movie even more.
Holy crap, that’s awesome and I didn’t realize that. I thought he was just confirming he was in there
@@lyhieu9821 it seems to make sense
@@wheredyougetthat this director is one of the best for subtle little hints or things that confirm the world the story is being told in
Anybody else want a comic book of Unbreakable, Split, and Glass?
that'd be meta
HOLY NACHOS THEY EXIST
i do
@@jazmin0227 Get me a link!
I've been actually thinking about writing one myself ^^' But even though I study cinema and art in general I'm not that great of a drawer X)
Lest we not forget the 3 family members wearing their respective colors in the end
Quick fact: Pinks were used in the 70s to help modify moods in certain hospitals. They believed exposure to a certain shade of pink would fight depression and make people happier. There is even a book on it.
Matthew Eaton it makes you calm
They paint the walls pink at the jail I was at blue and pink colors are all over facilities across the world for mood that's known
Critics are being WAY to harsh on this movie
critics never appreciate talented directors
shining 1980
blade runner 1984
etc
now Glass
that's right!
The thing 1982
Last time I trusted someone he squeezed my shoulder and I died.

Nuts crazy
Relatable
Oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah

The Joker (Heath Ledger) was the only supervillain that could be at the level of Mr. Glass. He was a real evil mind.
No I don't think they're being fair. Everyone is so in love with their super heroes being unmasked and attractive celebrities. When if based in reality that wouldn't be the case. But I loved it because it had dialogue and a character driven story you had to actually follow and pay attention to.
MCU is occurring inside Mr. Glass mind this whole time. And he sees himself has Furry then.
I've been waiting for this for the longest time
M Night always has so many secrets and references, I love it!
@@Danilego India people have secrets, like T-Series it came out of nowhere
same
A Easter egg I found was when Ellie Staple tells Elijah that only God should have these powers and the whole shamrock society is similar to Samuel Jackson character in Jumper. The paladin's believed only God could be at all places.
This movie was fantastic!
Naw son
No it was garbage
Why doesn’t Macavoy have an Oscar nomination for his acting?
the movie released too late :((((((((
Because he isn’t in the MCU
@@painepunk8947 he basically is now lmao
One Easter egg you missed was the comic book that Kasey read, with that character who was doing the same stuff the Beast was doing, that character featured a “long mane of hair” which is exactly how Dennis described him to Dr. Fletcher in Split
Its a refreshingly grounded take on the superhero genre. 4 stars... critics are douchebags and have been for much of Shymalan's work. Bravo good sir, Bravo!
I just recently watched Split, and oh boy... when I saw David Dunn in the end.... i have to watch Glass... the 3 movies are awesome!!
I thought the movie was crafted very well. Expertly designed, both visually, thematically and very detail oriented.. no Hello Kitty for me thank you LOL
Brilliant film, a real superhero supervillian movie.
@Ravi Bhat and a 79% audience score. Also Chris stuckman (a critic) showed how he gave Glass a positive review but rotten tomatoes put it as rotten. RT is a good tool but it isn't always correct
@Ravi Bhat RT is has the least reliable reviews
@Ravi Bhat RT is has the least reliable reviews never trust them
@Ravi Bhat booooooi dont go by the system form you own option.
Yes, great movie- and rotten tomatoes is simply an aggregator site finding the mean (average) of all grades online
I love the movie Glass. Perfect hero/villain film.
At the end of the movie when Mr. Glass said this was an origin story, I couldn't help but laugh thinking of what the next round of Shyamalan's superpowered people will be. My mind immediately jumped to the likes of Mystery Men.
12:40 God Damn you Eric!!! Lol
Lmao, I knew he was gonna do it
That moment when marvel trying to bring back half the universe from a snap of a finger but can't get Bruce willis back from a puddle
I loved Glass
This movie was incredible! Critics are just too used to the ongoing action and CGI cinematography from the Marvel and DC movies
This movie was good but the twist was kinda of sad but unexpected
Yeah it was a total bummer seeing David go out like that.
Very very predictable
@@serenityfirefly-1873 Nah it was great to get more adult ending.
@@alejandramedina6132 no it wasn’t
Good movie!
Just not really a twisted, I figured they all bite it like 20mins in 😂
As someone who hates most M. Night movies (The Village, Signs, The Happening) this one was hands down his best ones. It was nice to see what he could do with a continuous trilogy
LOVED this movie. Seriously underrated by reviewers.
Loved this movie. Had me thinking the whole time. Really had my full attention, and that is what movies are supposed to do. BRAVO
That's my comic book shop in Philly "Ontario st comics"
A couple of points:
Pastel pink is used in places such as mental hospitals and prisons to segregate people who turn violent as it is supposed to be soothing.
The puddle that David Dunn drowns in at the end is the same shape as the swimming pool in Lady In The Water.
Glad you made this
4:19 "this could be a nod to water!!!" Yeah no shit Sherlock
No no no. Dunn is a Green Lantern, and Crumb is a Yellow Lantern.
Color Commentary So Mr. Glass is a Purple Lantern representing compassion...?
@@pierce8878 Indigo, but yes quite possibly my friend. He kills because he's compassionate enough to help humans understand their true abilities in this world.
Color Commentary Fair enough my friend.
Pierce Smith also indigo lanterns are murders
Can we just take a second to praise the genius that is James McAvoy.. Etcetera.
3:29 easily one of my favorite shots of the entire movie. I saw it as a representation of the Horde lead by the beast upside down on the ceiling inching closer and closer.
Love ya Erik but your obsession with the “Last time I trusted someone I lost an eye quote” is a little crazy
Loved it! Can't wait to watch it again!
I’ve been waiting for a y’all to start a podcast , already subscribed 👍🏿
I loved Glass, thanks for making the video.
The movie was fantastic but can we please appreciate how amazing this easter egg explanation video was??? Thank you so much for this video it helped me get to know the movie on a much deeper level. Excellent job.
Sweet Been waiting for a PODCAST!
i saw this yesterday, loved it!
oh yeah yeah
Patricia's make-shift nurse outfit reminded me of the Joker's nurse outfit in Dark Knight. White crocs!
A marathon in your channel after a long day working 😄❤️🇦🇷
Love ya Erik Voss!!!
Loved it ...give McAvoy an Oscar!
Just watched it today Loved it !!! Awesome Trilogy.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and it made me think for days after
0:17 I thought James McAvoy was naked! 🤣
Excited about the podcast
Good vid
Nice
I loved it I wish they would make more now
Love the Rockstar gang! Keep it up Eric and friends!
Omg !! Never understood these while watching....M N S is a genius !!!!
Can't wait to see this. You gave me a lot to think about.
Janice Trent they all died in the end..
It was GREAT! I loved it, and am excited for whats to come.
My favorite of the series is Split. I love the characters introduced, and Kevin is interesting as a character
12:37 don't know why I knew it was coming lol gets me every time
Idk how James McAvoy plays the role so well, I thought it was great in Split but it's even better in Glass. This was my favorite Shyamalan movie and I thought it was great. The ending kinda had me scratching my head, but still great.
Subscribed on Himalaya! Thanks for the suggestion on the cool app.
The Superman punch is basically a MMA move crazy 😂
In unbreakable Bruce Willis touch a kid and hear scream the kid is kevin
This is not true. It was a fan theory
Its could be, maybe the kid is Kevin and is crying becuase his dad died
@@davidfromsouthpark9023 nah, he cried because his mom abused him
I loved it! Split was prob the best I ever saw so I waited for this. Not at all disappointed
It really would've been cool to see people with other powers using them as the movie ended
Omfg I love unbreakable split and glass so much there so great
I would like to say, it loves this trilogy very much. "Glass" is the perfect ending of this trilogy.
Must say it is one of the best movies I've seen. I loved the way the twists we're handled and I think if Elijah actually did go through with his plan to blow up the tower, it would take away from the ending.
Brilliant movie. Nice video
I feel like nobody realized the fact the dr staple wore blue a whole lot and was almost always surrounded in blue. Now blue is usually a color of calm and hope but I still think it was worth noticing
The Joker doesn't escape from Arkham in The Dark Knight Returns. He's released after convincing a board that he's sane.
I wish more people appreciate this movie for the greatness it is.
This movie needs more appreciation. It was perfectly connected to the other movies and the twist was unespexted as it should be for a M. night shyamalan movie. It was meant to let die all 3 because it is not a Marvel Movie where they survive or get resurrected . :P
This reality placed comic book Thriller is shocking and everyone was awesome. Just Joseph Dunn(Son of Bruce Charcter) was so freaking scary with his eyes!
Thanks Eric Voss for this great video
Glass was the best
Amie Guinn Patricia is a character too lol
Newrockstars podcast!!! AWWW YISS
Excellent movie, I'll watch it over and over again!!
I really enjoyed this movie

Great movie
this movie was so 🔥 i wish i was a little older than 5 when unbreakable came out so i could have remembered david's story, but the fact that shyamalan is building his superhero universe is dope & im in for the ride 🤟🏽😤
Great film👑🎞
The critics were way off on this one, this is an amazing and very important film.
Its been a while since hacksaw ridge came out but that would be a good one to break down...
