Larry Graham was once the bassist with Sly and the Family Stone. He is the first person who used the slap bass technique. Such a proficient and epic musician.
Graham Central Station.
As previously mentioned, Larry Graham is credited as the one who first introduced the bass guitar technique that's popularly called "slap bass" (although Larry refers to it as "thumpin & pluckin"), and the song he used it on was a Sly & The Family Stone funk tune called "Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin". He was the bassist/vocalist for Sly in 1969...Leader of his own Funk band "Graham Central Station" in 1973... and made his solo debut with "One In A Million" in 1980, which was somewhat of a departure from his upbeat Funk style to such a beautiful ballad, which also turned out to be his biggest hit. Good reaction. 👏
The wedding song of the season when it came out!
By the way, if you type in (slap bass) on RUclips, you'll see the massive impact that Larry Graham has had on an endless number of bass players around the world!
One of my favorite old time songs ... It's kinda like a cross between listening to Lou Rawles and Tom Jones ... yeah great song ... great review guys. He was pretty successful under the band name or group called Graham Central Station back in the early 70s.
Famous Bass player invented a style of Bass guitar playing called “plucking and thumping”
Graham Central Station.
I still have this album
Larry Graham is also Drake’s uncle. His brother is Drake’s father Dennis Graham.
