Well at least the grab is close 😅 I land on 16th Feb, they probably change again 🤣 my luck 🙈 From your videos I learned: Land with an small cheap E-sim Rdy to go so I got internett right away. Get the grab to a ATM that can take out 5 or 20m. Walk to my hotel BUT GET SOME BUN DAU MAM TOM FIRST (just for those who got no1 to kiss 😅😘) check in to the hotel✅ Then get that small yellow 50cc electric bike, since this is my first time in Vietnam 😅 get to know the traffic and driving culture, get used to the honking 😅 Then hopefully run into you and Markus to say hi 👋 and steal some tips about Da Nang!
Excited for my trip to Da Nang. The airport looks to be the perfect size. Not overwhelming and well-designed. Thank you for the overview and good information.
Good info i could have used 3 days ago lol :( Weather has been very nice recently tho . My mistake with the taxi was thinking metered taxi would be ok but was charged 300k approx 12 usd. It would have been about 400k but i only had 300k on me. driver was kind enough to drive the rest of the way.
Hi Samy, I’m arriving next Sunday! I’m so glad I saw your video about the change of place grab pickup. Also, I’ll be staying in Da Nang for three months. Do you have any recommendations on whether I should get my SIM card at the airport or in the city? Thanks
Hi Samy loving your videos they have been very helpful. We are coming to Vietnam in April for 3 weeks. We are coming from the UK. Would it be best to bring US dollars or ££ to change?
Great Video!!! May I ask how reliable is the Grab service in Da Nang? There have been alot of reviews on forums where people shared that it is easy to get a Grab to the destination but experienced issues trying to find a grab available upon return leaving people stranded.
If you stay in the center or beach it’s no problem I could imagine if you drive in no man’s land that it will be tough. Any place of interest is covered very well here in Da Nang
You could try the InDrive app and compare prices grab always works if you go straight from the airport. If you stay in da Nang and go to hue I would recommend the train it’s a very pretty ride!
Hi Samy another great video as always. Is the new grab station at the international airport temporary or permanent? I am arriving in 10 days. Also, does airport Wifi still work while standing in that zone? My phone is not e-sim compatible and since my plane lands at 1am I will not be able to get a SIM card. Finally, just wondering what are food options if you arrive in Danang at 1am. Any convenience stores open at the airport or should I search the Anh Thuong area once I check in my hotel? Thx again Samy, you are the Da Nang expert 😊
I’m not 100% sure with the WiFi at the old ride app location but the new grab one should cover. You can definitely book it and screenshot the car infos then walk there. I could imagine the SIM card people still selling tho. Worst case you take a taxi and just tell them 50% of what ever they want say something like hey grab is 90k VND etc :) They are 24/7 mini marts all over the an Thuong area but you can also use your grab app to order food to your hotel it’s possible but usually more western food. In the bar street there is also always a pizza place open late hehe
it should maybe be cheaper from official viettel stores yeah. They are all shut right now. if you buy from an unofficial sim store (because they are open lol) you will get overcharged imo (i was overcharged a little but not too much)
@@SocialSamyWalks hi Samy what do you know about this business with the government blocking or removing *unregistered* sims. I think if you buy a sim you have to register it as well. i get a message in vietnamese saying my sim is unregistered. I thin it has to be registered within a few weeks of buying? not sure. I plan on changing it to a better one at the end of the month anyway.
Perfect then you’re good 🙏 Bring some big clean Dollar bills with you and check sometimes it’s better than the internet.(not much tho) It’s always wise to bring some emergency bills with you in case you loose the card or so.
hello samy,is it still raining in da nang? is it really that warm there? i'll be there in about 2 weeks and the weather is kind of scary for the next two weeks

@@SocialSamyWalks I've been scammed way worse in thailand 😅
Hi Samy I got my Dong in Australia before I arrived in Vietnam in August 2024 then had extra Dong on my Wise Card but others may do something else

Personally I rather pay at the airport and have a sim right away.
Then I would get a new sim at a regular telecommunications store.

the same
Yes it’s cheaper but if you just stay under a month I would just get it there for convenience
