There's no business like show business. The curtain has come down on Lea Michele's dream to play Fanny Brice. What an incredible performance, what an amazing run. A talent along with some of the greats, Martin, Merman, Channing, and of course Streisand.

So sorry I did not get to see Lea perform. We saw Funny Girl three times, twice with Beanie, and once with Julie. The night we saw Julie, Lea was scheduled to perform, and she , for some reason, had to miss both the Saturday matinee and the Evening performance. Of course we were disappointed as we had paid $450 for the front row ticket to see Lea. We were given a refund, and we were eating dinner at a restaurant near the theater where "Funny Girl " is on, and our friend, and Ramin's standin, Jeremiah, told us that Julie Benko was one of the best leasing ladies with whom he had ever worked, so we turned around and bought the same seats again, but this time for $169, LOL. Julie was wonderful. Of course I would have liked to have seen Lea, but could not afford another trip now, and we were happy with Julie's performance. I did enjoy hearing Lea sing "My Man," because it's been left out of this production, and I've always loved that song.

I am very happy for her, and the cast, that they got to continue when it appeared that it would not. Not to mention the people who wanted her to fail and those in the public who did not look at the timing of the things she was accused of doing nor her former cast mates who did not accuse her of anything, especially Ryan Murphy, who I have to believe, would have taken her to task if she did do the things she was accused of doing over 3 years and, primarily, after her fiancè overdosed and died....had she done what they said she did, she would not have been kept on by Murphy and surely would not have been offered this role after Ms. Feldstein, a talented young lady, it was believed, could not carry this particular show, which depends entirely on she who plays Fanny Brice. I wish her more success and more opportunities, now...and in finishing, just want to say that it was brave of her to enter the scandal that this show was and come out of it a year later with pride and happiness.

'Oh my man I love him so' was not from Funny Girl. It was never in Funny Girl. It was a sashay song sung in the Zigfield Follies by Fanny Brice. Barbra got a movie "curtain call" in which she did a star turn by 'turning' My Man into a torch song (She even requested changes to Send in the Clowns). It was very dramatic, a big plume in Bar's hat.

But, if you spend your entire career aspiring to be Barbra Streisand and then copy her legendary Funny Girl closing night routine, you'd damned sure better bring the goods... and alas, she didn't. It's not bad, obviously (Lea's no lightweight, to be sure), but it doesn't come close to matching Streisand's artistry. I really wish she'd created her own unique closing night performance that allowed her to showcase her own talent and identity as an performer, rather than doing a so-so imitation of Streisand. Hopefully now that she's gotten this out of her system, she can chart her own course forward.

Nonsense. The song was written for Mistinguette, Maurice Chevalier’s girlfriend. Ziegfeld bought for Brice, who made it her own. Nobody denies it’s a French song. Streisand liked the song but not its anti-feminist message. The other great singer associated with it was blues legend Billie Holidar.

Also Barbra did it the closing night of Funny Girl on Broadway. Well, Lea learned from the best--good for her, happy for her!

It's not. The version Lea did in Glee was almost exactly as Ms. Streisand sang it. This was different in a couple of places. You'll hear the difference when you stop insisting on judging Lea.

@@patricelockertanthony7630 exactly thank you she made it her own here and the reason it sounded exactly like Barbara and glee is because I think she was directed to do that and please know when I say that I’m not trying to be disrespectful to you in any way shape or form I swear I’m not. I’m completely agreeing with you if anything.

Darling Lea has copied Barbra in every way she conceivably could--but that's okay--might as well learn from the best--and the original. :) Happy Lea got to do this--
