Best vocalist ever in my opinion. You can tell he wasn't feeling well by his eyes. To be able to sing like that while sick with the flu is pure dedication and talent. He doesn't just sing. He soars!
Not a cold but the flu. They say they had a doctor give him a Vitamin C cocktail so that he could perform. Imagine doing a complete concert while having a fever/body aches but also doing more than one show because you went all the way to Japan after all and you want lots of people to have a chance to see your show. Bless his heart nothing but the best for us fans🥰
I don’t say it often, but Steve Perry has the definition of a “beautiful voice”. Even going through the flu while singing like this is nothing short of pure talent. Check out when he sings live in Philadelphia.
I haven't heard this song in so many years .Omg the memories conjured up just now wow!. Thank you for posting this majestic performance and the memories.
Not really a huge fan of Journey, but they are part of the soundtrack of me growing up. If you listened to rock radio back then, you know this and many other Journey songs by heart. Anywho, I do know he had the flu during this recording. Imagine what he could have done if he had sung "good" music like heavy metal. Yeah he had talent, but it was wasted with Journey and that solo career he had in the 80's
Check out Deen Castronovo playing this live in the newer Journey while playing drums. It's even better than this. blow you away. And, my sweet, you are beautiful without the makeup. Very.

I could listen to him sing forever and ever. Watching him sing brings me so much joy. ❤
Always here for your Journey reactions. They are awesome and Steve... No words!
The first time I heard this song back in the day, I absolutely fell in love with it!!
Poor baby, he had the flu and still put on a great show!

Steve actually had the flu here. And he was amazing!
My absolute favorite performance by Steve! Right here!!!! 🔥
Sounds perfect to me since 1983
I believe Steve had a temperature from the flu that night.
Yes, you can hear congestion in his voice in videos from this concert.

The Voice never fails! Steve Perry. This is one of my favorites
“They rule the night.” 🎶 I just love that lyric.
This was supposed to be a throwaway song off of in my opinion one of the 3 greatest total albums ever….” Escape”.
Steve Perry, the most glorious pure rock voice of all time!! ❤
Check out Wheel in the Sky live in Osaka ❤❤❤❤
They had gotten into Japan 3 days for this location. Not sure which night this was. He could control his voice so well. He was getting bronchitis.

Budokan was crying
You look great without your makeup... if that is you... can't really tell, but assuming it is you, because it is your channel. 😁

I heard Steve had the flu.🥲
Neal Schoen played guitar in Santana
When he was SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! He turned down Eric Clapton to join Santana.

Steve Perry the voice we love him 💯
If no one else was there, you at least had me at gym teacher...
Steve can’t sound bad even if he tried.
I can't hear anything in the voice, either. But his eyes look tired.

Shoot, I'd give anything to sing as good as his worst vocal performance
