Try to sing one of his songs the way he does and you will realize how flawless his technique is. You wind up just hoping you did his song justice. I have watched many Journey reactions but never seen anybody do this one. Just epic! Steve Perry is my older sisters love! Grateful to have been exposed to them as a child from her ans thankful he still around and has done new music not to along ago. So grateful to be alive at same time as him. This is my generation of music and I can say I didn’t appreciate them when I was young like I should have. I realize now how one-in-a- million they were and are.
if you especially like the soulful solo stuff of him, then you should listen to "If only for a moment, girl". Steve can also play drums. You can tell by his singing. He sings so percussive, the song is full of syncopations. You have to have a distinct sense of rhythm.
Steve Perry the GOAT. There are several other performances from this concert you should check out. You can’t go wrong with this one or the Houston ‘81 concert. Love your reactions.
Do yourself a favor and react to Mother, Father. Steve Perry said this was the hardest song he ever sang. The emotion and passion in this song is mind blowing and you can see the exhaustion on his face at the end. Another masterpiece but a song from a long time ago that was not played on the radio a million times for some reason. It should have.
Growing up listening to so may great live bands in the late 70s through the 90 todays performers just dont measure up. Only one I can think of is Chris Stapleton with just raw talent.
