That's a different and unique way to celebrate a funeral. Its nice that they didn't mind you being there and filming, its like if you were a guest and part of the family.
Yeah, it really is. Another subscriber who's Vietnamese told me that it is considered luck to come across a funeral ceremony. That might be why they were so welcoming.
I am Mexican and this is pretty similar in our culture specially with the catholic community, they carried the coffin across town to the catholic church and the to the cemetery. The music is like a way to celebrated that person's life and they play the favorite songs. I never seen a coffin like that, but I'll guess is pretty common in Vietnam. Stay safe 🙂
@@GLOBIK No, it's typically during the day. The viewing is normally at night, they view the body's for an entire night and part of the morning and then follow by the funeral. Some people even hired a mariachi band for the funerals.
@@MiriamHernandez-he7uk Interesting. I'd love to witness that. I was told by a Vietnamese subscriber that running into a funeral in Vietnam may be considered as good luck. That might explain why they let me tag along and film the ceremony. Do you know if most Mexican families would be ok with it?

Good job with the editing the way you keep the sound going in one take whilst changing visual edits from different times. It adds a nice continuity from only one camera to make the illusion of more cameras and angles.
Wow! Thanks! I'm glad you noticed it. Some parts were quite tricky to put together because, while I did cut the sound, I tried to stitch parts together in a way that sounded continuous. Sometimes I feel like I'm spending way too much time on details that nobody will notice... But you did! You made my day!
Had a good one in nam dinh. The band spent 14hrs rehearsing the day before in the house next door. Really good music actually. And the prossesion started at 5am. Last about 15min lol
This is really interesting since these brass band-style funeral possessions are quite unique to Southern Vietnamese catholic and New Orleans funerals which is odd as they are two on opposite sides of the world but when looking back on history it makes sense since they were introduced from the same place.
That's a good point! It's as if the French influence gave a similar result with two completely different cultures. Meanwhile, this kind of ceremony is not really a thing in France
one of thing to Buddha Vietnamese its only 8:00 A.m or 3:00 p.m is coffin go to the place bury or cremate. Only the Catholic Vietnamese can ready before sunrise to church

This is pretty much a Catholic tradition that came from the French. You can see it wherever there was an influence of French and/or Spanish culture such as in New Orleans and Latin-America. Funeral processions there are often accompanied by a band.
There is an influence indeed much like everything else in the world is influenced by other cultures in the past (music, food, religion rituals, etc.). It still became something that is unique here compared other Asian countries. The ceremony, the music and the visual elements are also very different from what the French brought as colonizers. Not to mention that French people don't really have much of these kinds of funeral processions anymore.
Oh man this is happening in my apartment now.🇻🇳My landlords dad passed. Apparently it takes days.Yes they wake up to play their music so early 😁🤗.Death hurts man. I lost two people in 2020.It's so cool that they have Christ Jesus on the casket.❤️
That guy was a naval officer I reckon. You're lucky. I was afraid to look let alone film. Was afrai they would be supersitious. Was a fantastic procession tho. So lucky to witness that
I see. I don't think I'm lucky. Just curious. I slowly came closer and smile and nodded to see the reactions and they were welcoming and one even suggested to go get a closer look. Someone told me that it is considered good luck for Vietnamese people to randomly come across a funeral procession (not sure about it though).
As A vietnamese myself, i see like these traditional coffin trucks with like cultural dragon style coffins all the time, like once everyday day😅, and ford rangers with religious statues
As a Vietnamese watching this is very awkward. But i can relate with you, the funeral can be pretty annoying sometime, but i guess that how we expess our greive in Vietnam :b Anyway thanks for the video, good job with the editing !

That's not exclusive to Catholicism. Most religions are multiculturalist. As for blending with others, you might want to read about the Crusades and Christian Missions and missionary operations throughout history.
Sensitive topic, but it looks like that there is no much concern over the coronavirus in Vietnam, despite the virus getting there pretty early. Perhaps contagion rates are low in a tropical climate
On the contrary, there is A LOT of concern over the Corona virus. The government is very serious about it and so is the population. Schools have been closed for over a month now and it is almost impossible to enter the country without being sent to quarantine at this point. The numbers are low in Vietnam because they have been very serious about it from the beginning. I'm happy to be here to be honest.
Thank you for that, it,s good to know how the world works. May be it happens before dawn as Jesus Rose just before dawn, and as Christians they,d believe the person had gone to God so would be happy for them.

They want to do it early for 2 reasons :
1 - to beat the heat of the day
2 - people has to go to work
3 - some churches have mass at 4:30 am
Interesting. I thought there was a deeper or cultural meaning to it. Thanks for the info.
And to avoid traffic too
Surprised people won't take work leaves to attend a funeral
