Haha … Love the small detail on “Dark Shark” Barracuda ship that did not make it to the production set … the yellow cone in the black arch piece at 0:58 … ship bell 😄
A brilliant video, thanks for uploading! The stop motion film uses all the British names for the pirate sets, like; Captain Roger instead of Redbeard, Spinoza for the monkey (featured in set 6235), Dark Shark instead of Black Seas Barracuda and Sea Hawk instead of Caribbean Clipper. I guess it must have been for the British market. It seems too long for an advert but the ending seems like it was, either way brilliant work, especially as it was probably made around 1989!
+Philip Asliuk It still is. I like the new pirates. Sure they're bullshit compared to the old ones... but still, they're decent. When I first heard they were coming back with pirates, I was just like "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY"
I can tell one thing about that short story: Aside from the playsets and minifigs being used, its the set design of the islands and the sea itself that interest me; Like what was the volcano made from in order to erupt like that, and how were the landmasses crafted?
Well, I don't think anybody's actually named "Redbeard", even Blackbeard's real name was Edward Teach, so I'm guessing that "Redbeard" is Roger's alias.
Jarrah White He was called Captain Redbeard, and still is called that to this day with the newer versions of him. However, he was called Captain Rogers in other countries. This leads me to conclude that, just as CABRALFAN27 said, "Redbeard" is Roger's alias.
They edited on a thing called 'film', you may have heard of it... Also Avid was invented in 1989, so None Linear Editing software as we recognise it today did exist, it was just very primitive and hard to get.
This is just a case of the characters and sets having different names depending on what region your from. US: Redbeard, Black Seas Barracuda UK: Roger, Dark Shark
The first commercial is so well made for late 80s/early 90s.
"It might as well be toy money." Brilliant XD
I believe the pirate genre is the best out of any other. LEGO didn’t put a lot of effort in the newest series.
Animating those giant models must've been a nightmare. Very impressive.
Imagine it falling over
@@mindbuilder8768they werent made of real bricks

Thank you and Amy. It's the best years of LEGO. :) (1980 - 1998 I think)

I believe this was to be played on TV screens in Lego stores,
LOVE the vintage Lego Pirates! Brings back memories!
I hope the 90's pirates end up being the next DLC pack in Lego Worlds.
懐かしい。このシリーズ全部復刻してほしい。名作
Thanks for upping this i remember they used to show this commercial before Hugo game show
Can't wait for some mad lad to recreate this using the new remakes coming out as of recent, hopefully they remake the Caribbean Clipper (Sea Hawk)
Lets just all conclude that Lego is fucking AWESOME.
NoctiphobiaBTS Hell yeah!
Sadly, now it is not so awesome(

Joseph D me too. But The Brick Bounty was just sooooo bad. I think the best sets from the new line were imperial fort and outpost.
I wish lego had produced more of those short movies for pirates and their other themes like castle and space
Best Stop-Motion Short Ever
Naaah that would be fist Lego Stopmotion: MAGIC PORTAL
Lordodragonss actually the magic portal was the second cause before it in 1973, two danish cousins age 10 and 12 made journey to the moon.
Lordodragonss but the magic portal is the best brickfilm ever
Wow that was amazing! I want those sets!
Lego is about imagination and creativity.
Man, think how long it must've taken to animate that ad!
Aww man these lego pirate ships never float on real water they only sail on carpet floors
That`s was the great story eveeeeeeeer!
My favorite pirate is Captain Roger.
Erik the Pirate u said jack was your favorite prite
I love it so much!!
I have them :P, i loved that pirate lego as a kid.
I can tell one thing about that short story: Aside from the playsets and minifigs being used, its the set design of the islands and the sea itself that interest me; Like what was the volcano made from in order to erupt like that, and how were the landmasses crafted?
This must have taken years
OMG! AWESOME!
I love it
THATS AMAZING :O:O:O
so this is how it was...:)))
That was epic. Though wasn't the captain's name Redbeard?
Well the captain's name could be Captain Roger Redbeard.
I think the Captain was called Roger Redbeard, I remember having some ladybird books about the pirates and it said the Captain was called Roger.
Well, I don't think anybody's actually named "Redbeard", even Blackbeard's real name was Edward Teach, so I'm guessing that "Redbeard" is Roger's alias.
You might be right there, anyway do not worry too much about it.

How did they make the trumpet? 2:05
If you look close, it's a goblet piece with the bottom removed.
cool
That was a good video from Lucas Yelland
how did they peice all those pictures together with out a video editor

I knew he was called captain Roger and not captain red beard and the ship was the dark shark not some other weird thing
This is just a case of the characters and sets having different names depending on what region your from.
US: Redbeard, Black Seas Barracuda
UK: Roger, Dark Shark
the ship was no called "dark shark"
It had 2 names, barracuda and dark shark.
Dark Shark was the name of the ship in the UK.
🚢
When was this made?
1989 I presume as this is the first wave of Pirates sets which came out in that year.
Before Minecraft
