In LEGO Chess (which the clips are taken from), there were 'stories' you could play. In each of the three chapters an intro anim would play and then, as the characters fought, a chess game would start: if you won you got the 'good' outcome anim and the game continued; if you lost you got the 'bad' anim and had to try again. this vid confusingly shows both good and bad anims. As it happens, I was the game's Producer! ;) Nice to hear people enjoyed it back in the day.
I really miss that older late 80s-2000 style of lego. I actually liked the video games back then too, especially legoland *the lego rollercoaster tycoon* and creator
cole sorensen the company relies too heavily on licences now, Star Wars, Marvel/DC, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones. and so on, some of them are still going today, and in the case of Star Wars it makes up a major fraction of their product line, and people forget that Lego star wars is based on the movies, the movie series ended in 2005. that was almost 10 years ago The licence sets have increased and as a result they have taken away from Lego's unique product lines, now we pretty much just have CITY, Friends, and a token knights castle line. The generic "city" theme back in the day had multiple subthemes. Racers, Outback, rescue, etc
binkyboy448 The cruel irony of the lego movie is that they had several references to licensed sets, Batman was a secondary character. but the two licensed series that contributed to the company's success the most, StarWars and Harry Potter *because they were probably the first*, were barley mentioned
I remember these were my favorite LEGO sets when I was a kid. I had the Imperial Flagship. Both the Blue and Red Imperials. If I had the cash I would buy the new sets that came out this year....
This seems to be cut-scenes from a Lego Game, maybe Lego Battles. That would explain how the two pirates kept getting the treasure without us seeing them get it.
Btw to the confused people, this is from the game "LEGO Chess", which came out I think in the 90s (I know it ran on Win '98). The person who uploaded did some clever editing, but what you were really seeing were the two alternate endings of three videos. You see, in the storyline, it shows a video up until some conflict (ie. map), how you play determines the outcome. if you lose, you get the bad ending, and you have to play again 'till you win. There's also an old west story. just youtube it :D
4:07 So awesome! If only the Imperial Armada really had an official set like that released; a large fortress like 6277 Imperial Trading Post. They never got one :'( Maybe a fan could try to replicate the one shown here.
I was watching this while listening to the Music CD that was released with Legend of Zelda:Skyward sword, and this video's timing was such that it fit remarkably well
since he made it from the lego chess game. in the game you play 3 chess matches. and after and before each game you will se a short movie-clip. if you lose you'll se the one where he loses the map and loses the treasure, vice versa. and he took em' all in this movie
he didn't make it. Its off of a Lego game. Just like Lego chess. It shows what happened if the good guy won and what happened when the bad guy one. He stinks. He is a lier.
Great Production; every bit as good as the Western. But, like the western, how did the captain foil the pirate in the end? Still a great "mini movie". You should be in Hollywood!
i remember this game from i was little. i used to play it alot. but it was pretty hard for a girl on 4-5 years who dont know alot about chess. and i also remember i found a way to cheat xD and i used everytime i was close losing :D
guys good news at lego webste on forums theres a petion to bring back old pirates and soeone talked to costumer service and they are going tobring them back a liittle diffrent they dont know when tho maybe 2008
The nostalgia. 14 years ago.
I can still remember when I watched this as a kid
Simpler times
Indeed
Holy shit, major Nostalgia. I remember watching this and building my own pirate ships. Man I miss that
Good days... long... longggg... gone.......
One of my childhood videos when I was 5 years old hehe.

That’s what exactly what I need for my very own crossover movie
When the admiral is floating in the water after he walks the plank he looks so sad :(
Don't worry, the admiral was rescued and then the nice pirates made Captain Redbeard walk the plank.
Admiral Tim
But then Redbeard buried him in the sand, but then he got out and buried Redbeard in the sand
I really miss that older late 80s-2000 style of lego.
I actually liked the video games back then too, especially legoland *the lego rollercoaster tycoon* and creator
Yeah lego has really died down since then.
cole sorensen the company relies too heavily on licences now, Star Wars, Marvel/DC, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones. and so on, some of them are still going today, and in the case of Star Wars it makes up a major fraction of their product line, and people forget that Lego star wars is based on the movies, the movie series ended in 2005. that was almost 10 years ago

cole sorensen Well, there's still The Lego Movie.
binkyboy448 The cruel irony of the lego movie is that they had several references to licensed sets, Batman was a secondary character. but the two licensed series that contributed to the company's success the most, StarWars and Harry Potter *because they were probably the first*, were barley mentioned
***** The LEGO Movie referenced about every LEGO theme there ever was, and made jokes about some of them.
Nothing quite takes me back like dated, brightly colored video game FMV's from the mid to late 90s.
I remember watching this.
One of the 1st videos I ever watched on RUclips
Admiral Woodhouse VS. Captain Redbeard!
This is nostalgia
I swear there was a train animation like this one
Lego loco
castle too
This is the only Lego game that doesn't frantically try to be funny. I really liked it.
I remember these were my favorite LEGO sets when I was a kid. I had the Imperial Flagship. Both the Blue and Red Imperials. If I had the cash I would buy the new sets that came out this year....
I understand
This is from Lego Chess for the PC...the cutscenes started when u chose a specific theme to play in.
Woah how old is this, this is like the first pirate series
These are animations from 1998 PC game Lego Chess.
This seems to be cut-scenes from a Lego Game, maybe Lego Battles. That would explain how the two pirates kept getting the treasure without us seeing them get it.

4:07 So awesome! If only the Imperial Armada really had an official set like that released; a large fortress like 6277 Imperial Trading Post. They never got one :'( Maybe a fan could try to replicate the one shown here.
never mind. it's just Armada Sentry and Imperial Outpost. Still a cool scene though.
I've never seen a video at 2006 wow
Its about freakin time they made this
I was watching this while listening to the Music CD that was released with Legend of Zelda:Skyward sword, and this video's timing was such that it fit remarkably well
They should totally make a Lego Pirates video game. I'd play it :D
The pirate theme was my favorite when i was little
lol i love the way the guys talk in lego games
since he made it from the lego chess game. in the game you play 3 chess matches. and after and before each game you will se a short movie-clip. if you lose you'll se the one where he loses the map and loses the treasure, vice versa. and he took em' all in this movie
I can tell that there are actually two separate endings to each scene
It's always two endings/parts depending on winning/loosing the chess game
This not stupid it's brilliant
I always got stuck on the island for the pirate chess game. For the wild west one i got stuck in the fort.
Good animation.
he didn't make it.
Its off of a Lego game.
Just like Lego chess. It shows what happened if the good guy won and what happened when the bad guy one.
He stinks.
He is a lier.
@@duudairsoft He didn’t say he made it. It’s from Lego chess if your interested.

Awesome movie. Original lego pirates were the best legos, bar none.
I loved this game, I think of playing it again sometimes. I always got owned by in the last game, though, it got so frustrating!

I Love These Old sets !!
@irideigo It's the two different outcomes of the fight. This is from a chess game.
It's a little weird how it switches between bad thing and good thing. But, overall, great job
its pretty cool
One is if you lose and other other if you win.
wow i wish i new how to make my own movie legos or not ( i mean either animation or effects or making real legos look like they are moving)

There was a big cross on the island, he could of seen it if he had Google Earth.
this is from 2006 its so nostalgy now is 2013
it showed the differant endings depending on if you lost or won
@Thebeyblade01 It's more the music than anything else. And that fact that I saw it so many times having failed that level on Lego Chess so many times.
AGREED so much fun!
2:03 made me laugh!!!!!! LOL
guys good news at lego webste on forums theres a petion to bring back old pirates and soeone talked to costumer service and they are going tobring them back a liittle diffrent they dont know when tho maybe 2008
