If Lego reissued some older sets like the Futuron monorail, I would shit bricks. And then I would waddle into the nearest store to buy one, with my pants full of bricks.

True, you don't see Lego do stop motion for their advertisements anymore. I guess it got too expensive to hire people for it and you get such a short time gap for commercials on TV that it's not viable to spend the money on it anymore.
Wow, now that's something ya don't see anymore. They clearly don't build those ads like they used to. Stop motion animation commercials? I never would've guessed such a thing existed. And the weird quitely calm lack of usual background noise and sound effects is something completely different from what I grew up with in Lego City and Racers and Creator and Hero Factory sets from the early 2000's and 2010's. Something about these old commercials from the 90's is vaguely calming and soothing yet mysterious and strange. Especially with the old grainy analog TV display and audio quality. It really take me back to my earliest childhood days growing up with the technology prior to 2010 with Walkmans and Audio cassettes and VHS Tapes and Direct to Home movies and rental movies like Hollywood movies and Blockbuster's and other shops like Circuit City and Boarders. Wow, thank you so much for somehow managing to find these things. I'm sure that people should take this as an example and work to preserve these old and long forgotten pieces of official Lego Media and Marketing Material. It's like stepping back into a whole new world before I qas born when I see and experience old animated tv shows and movies and music and early Internet games and websites and even advertisements. It's such a refreshing breath of nostalgia.
Yeah all that is very true. Today, you can make ads using an ai or some 3d pc program, in 90s it was all recorded on film, that was so much more work. The biggest difference was in cartoons today's cartoons can't compete with the old ones, most of today's cartoons are created in some pc program, causing horrible scenery quality and humour quality. The oldschool 90s cartoons were the best, they had to be drawn by hand, because of this, they were quite expensive, but it was a big businness in that time - all you really had was max. 1 TV in house with few TV programmes, a lot of kids were watching the same cartoon at same time. A nice example of well-made cartoon is duck tales, I have been always a fan of this cartoon, and you can sadly watch a massive decrease in quality compared to new cartoon - for example paw patrol. Its very sad its just about businness. If you can do something cheaper and more massively, you go for it and don't care about the audience.
@@Lego_oldschool The good news is at least until very recently with Lego in particular, they never left the classic form of stop motion animation because we had the Lego Club Magazine with its subthemes and The Adventures of Max up until around 2015. And then from 2015 to 2019 we had all four of the Universal Studios Lego Movies. I don't think we have to worry about Lego forgetting their roots with their media and advertising and marketing and other forms of entertainment. The only thing we have to worry about is the quality control of the physical Lego Bricks and parts having damage or faulty molding because of the modern day transition from PVC based plastic to more eco friendly materials without sacrificing quality. And the folks in charge are clearly listening and trying. It's just very difficult and continues to be an ongoing issue, we're just gonna be in for a rough period for the foreseeable future now. Just because everything isn't awesome now doesn't mean we're not still shooting for awesome and we can get there eventually. Everything isn't black or white either.😅
I can honestly say I have about 60% of the sets in these ads up in my attic still in there original boxes I've haven't opened them in nearly 30 years the late 80s and early 90s has a special place for me as a kid growing up they were the best times this is a great collection of Lego ads my friend
These sets are my childhood. Collected them from 1988 untill 1996! I can't express how much fun i had with that airport and the Airport Shuttle. This commercial is so nostalgic. I had those 9 volt trains, that exact harbor, those bandits with the boat!! I even reenacted some scenes from these commercials like scanning the tickets on the Airport Shuttle and playing some theft scene with those bandits, even playing with that fisherman!!! The only thing i skipped from those days was space.... never liked that theme but i did enjoy the shuttle launch pad from 1995.
Same! I own a box of legos that passed through my entire family for years. And since they all bought new legos its now got sets from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. My daughter is now the third generation to play with those legos.
I’ve got the original 9v or whatever volt electric transformer operate train sets from this era. Best Lego trains ever, it’s a shame that they moved to battery operated trains, it takes the fun out of truly running a model train because once the batteries in the battery pack die, you got to replace them or recharge them.
Yeah, 9v Lego trains are great, I don't know why Lego doesn't move back to it, especially when there is everybody today talking about ecology. 9v layouts were so much more effective, if you don't run a battery powered train for a long time, batteries will die and could even leak and damage the battery box.
There was no reason for them to cancel it because LEGO's electric track system was one of the safest powered toy train tracks ever made. Anyone that has had vintage O scale Lionel track knows those are practically a death sentence for a kid if you contact them in a short and touch the rails. LEGO did it very right.
Lego commercials from up until the 2010’s always felt so wrong to me(I’m an 00 kid, what did you expect) I mean, it just feels wrong that Lego was from this era, like I know they were invented a long time ago but it feels so wrong to see a commercial for something that seems so modern and associated with my own childhood heavily, especially with Ninjago and Chima
I graduated high school in 1993, this brings back memories. I still have some of these sets, and I still have their boxes but the boxes have seen better days. Thanks for bringing back my memories from my high school years.

I watched this when I was 9 years old, I hope someday I will get on the futur. Now I got some of these old sets although it's not completed, Nevertheless they are still valuable for me. Update: got an incompleted yellow train, a cargo train, some vehicle and a gas station set.
