As a Korean and Kiwoom Heroes fan, it is funny that Lee reminds you of Ichiro because since Lee’s debut, he’s roll model was always Ichiro. That’s why he’s back numebr is 51. I hope he performs well wherever he goes.
I am surprised to hear that Lee looks up to Ichiro of all people. I was under the impression that every Korean hates Ichiro ever since the WBC final game back in 2009.
Thank you for having done your homework on Imanaga. He is not as dominant as Yamamoto but is a quality pitcher. He is a #4 or #5 starter type. He can be counted to go at least 6 innings every time he gets to start the game. Besides, he shouldn't be ridiculously expensive like Yamamoto. Seattle might come after Imanaga because they don't have a left-handed starting pitcher.
@@snerdtergusonBingo. Contrary to popular perception, The Yankees actually don't sign many free agents, but when they really want one, they go get him - And they really want Yamamoto.
Lee to the Padres just makes so much sense. Kim is already on the team and the city loves him, we need an upgrade in CF, and the contract may be more attractive to us now that it’s lower due to his injury. I wouldn’t even be surprised if they were in on Imanaga with Darvish in the rotation already and our desperate need for SP now that 3 of our 5 guys are free agents.
Yamamoto makes perfect sense too, actually. He'd have a Japanese pitcher in Darvish who, unlike the Mets' Senga, is more Yamamoto's pitching style - control. A great mentor. I think the bigger need is Yamamoto, but I'd be cool with Lee if we traded Soto or Grisham. Not sure he profiles great in LF tho.
@@rayfinkle9369 I’d love Yamamoto and it does make sense regarding Darvish, but I don’t think it makes sense with what SD is trying to do payroll wise. If they want to get below $200 million, Yamamoto is not going to be a Padre
@@tavalos719 That's why we need to trade Soto, imo. Preller has got us into a mess we can't afford him now, unless we sacrifice upgrading the 3 SP we need, back of lineup, BP. Yamamoto might cost 200m, Soto 500m. We need 3 pitchers that can go against NL West killers all year. Musgrove and Darvish can't be our #1 and 2 if we want to go to playoffs the next 3+ years, imo. Of course we'd all do it different. But I'd try something like Soto + prospects to get one of SEA pitchers (Kirby, Miller - ace upside, controllable), then trade maybe Campusano and prospects for MIA Edward Cabrera (ace upside, controllable), then sign Yamamoto/Snell for 200m. Then we have a balanced staff with high upside young pitchers for 5 years. Musgrove Kirby, Darvish, Yamamoto, Cabrera... for me that makes me sleep better than having Soto and a trio of Lugo type pitchers going against LA, AZ, SF, ATL, etc. That's just me tho, I know you'd build it different. Be interesting to see your dream scenario at this point.
@@rayfinkle9369 I think trading Soto solves a lot of problems, but only by trading Soto and letting go of Snell and Hader are you just now under $200 million payroll. Every other hole you have in the team now needs to be done cheaply to avoid going back over $200 million. That’s why they declined Wacha’s option, and you gotta assume Martinez, Lugo and Sanchez aren’t coming back. Because Gary may not be coming back, I think you gotta stick with a Campy/Sullivan combo (although I’d love to keep the Gary/Campy combo). You gotta try and get some young, controllable players for Soto to keep your payroll down, and get some of these international guys like Lee or Imanaga that won’t cost a fortune, and other MLB free agents that won’t cost a fortune
Yamamoto old teammate plays in Boston they also need starting pitching they are also for the frist time I can remember 12th in payroll going into this off season 🤷♂️
New York has a solid base with American League Cy Young Award favorite Gerrit Cole and former All-Star Nestor Cortés looking for a bounce-back season. The Yankees have been linked to multiple star hurlers already in free agency and it sounds like they could end up landing the best one available. New York reportedly will be "strong contenders" for Orix Buffaloes phenom Yoshinobu Yamamoto, according to SNY's Andy Martino.
To be fair fried didn t pitch half the year and was rusty in the playoffs,, morton was hurt, wright was hurt and elder is a rookie who peaked in June so ....they kind of a neeeded and need pitcher...and by the way they won the world series 2 years ago so STFU :D
While it's hard to predict who can ever get the Asian free agents/posted players, I think besides Ohtani, the Dodgers probably really like Imanaga for fit as a lefty, depth pitcher. Not that they wouldn't love Yamamoto but the way it shakes out and their needs, Imanaga seems to fit, along with them trading some young pitchers for a veteran starter like Corbin Burnes. Since the Dodgers, among a few others, are always in on the best available Japanese talent (Giants, Yankees, Mets, Mariners, Bosox). So, I think Giants get Yamamoto AND/or Lee, depending on where Bellinger and Snell land. Giants might be THE most aggressive spending this offseason, like the Mets/Padres previously, just not stupidly. Yamamoto could also end up in Boston as my other guess. Yuki Matsui, the Rakuten closer could conceivably go before any of these other guys. He should be talked about more!
I really like the team and the fans, but it's really hard to imagine anyone coming from Asia to choose the Cardinals, especially if he's coming with his partner or family and it's their first time to live abroad.
Enough with the tea leaves over yous guys and METS haters and the like.Yamamoto (GOD willing🙏🏾) will be wearing the beautiful blue and orange of the only team in NYC 🗽 that really matters. That being of the New York Metropolitans/ METS baby. LFGM!!!!!!!
Giants are always in talks about Yamamoto it seems, but as a fan I've also been hearing a lot about Lee. Our front office is looking for a good defensive center fielder and the only two real options are Lee and Bellinger (and idk about Bellinger tbh), plus they love signing players who are coming off injury years. (Also Bob Melvin as the new manager, who let Kim have lots of playing time in SD when he was adjusting). I think/hope they'll get at least 50% of Yamamoto/Lee because they have F U money after losing out on Judge and turning Correa away. Meaning if there's a bidding war they can just say "screw you, watch this" and overpay on purpose.
Not at all lol, Mets are by far my least favorite team. Always been a Buccos fan🏴☠️ Best memory was watching Jacob Stallings hit a Walk off Slam against them lol
I can see the Giants signing Lee if they get outbid for the other 3 (which they will). The Giants are thirsty after signing Arson Judge and not going through with Correa.
Great video

@miknak5254 These days many Koreans think of him as an absolute legend.

The Yankees are obsessed with signing Yamamoto. I don't see anyone outbidding them.
You know it isn't just fan hype and that the team really wants him when Cashman is going to Japan to watch him pitch.

I always forget Jung-Ho Kang existed. He had a couple really good seasons in PIT.

Has Lee served his Military time or the team he signs with is stuck with that
You sound like a Mets fan with your predictions.
Not even close to a Mets fan lol
You’re not predicting the Yankees for at least one of the three players? I don’t know?
your forgeting that those 205 k's come in around 25 starts...he's one of the best pitchers ive ever seen...I want him for the bravos SO BAD
How much more talent do you need on a team to get bounced in the playoffs right away again?

Giants will get no one. Farhan Zaidi is too cheap to pay what needs to be paid to get the best free agents.
As a Marlins fan, I don’t hino they’ll come to Miami 😢
No players from anywhere wanna go to Miami.
2 out of 3 wrong with a chance for a sweep
Lol can't be perfect
Lee was with the Heroes for 7 years not 5 they just changed their sponsor in his third season from Nexen to Kiwoom.

Again Bobble Head Doll to Mets but the real Yamamoto I have no idea. We will find out.
What about Masahiro Tanaka??
Underrated player. He was such a great pitcher, especially in the biggest games. And he had a disgusting splitter.

The Giants will get no one, because of the liar Farhan Zaidi. The owners say they want to break even and Zaidi does not want to be fired.
It is funny that you didn’t mention the Yankees with Yamamoto. I take it you’re a Mets fan in disguise.
Not at all lol, Mets are by far my least favorite team. Always been a Buccos fan🏴☠️ Best memory was watching Jacob Stallings hit a Walk off Slam against them lol
So how are you basing your predictions on…
Pirates, with Bryan Reynolds in cf, do not need to spend 25$ per 7 years on lee!!!!! Redundant. Very weak take.
Reynolds is in Left Field right now lol
Mets will likely be serious bidders on Ohtani. I don't think they get both him and Yamamoto.
The Orioles need Yamamoto and/or Imanaga.
Korean Ichiro will be a Mariner
Go Yankees!
Yamamoto to Mets
Ohtani to dodgers
Imanaga to Yankees or Red sox
Lee to I have no idea tbh
