- No one has had a better seat to more Lakers history than longtime PA Announcer Lawrence Tanter. Not only was he there for Showtime, Kobe/Shaq & LeBron/AD, but even for Marvin Gaye's historic national anthem
When you hear it on TV it's one thing, but when you listen to the lineups being announced. His voice is iconic and radiates through Staples Center!
We truly need to appreciate Him and Stu Lantz while we still have them. Once they're both gone... End of an era.
When Kobe died, and Lawrence said "Kobe Bryant was one of the greatest players of all time", you could hear his voice crack as if he was about to break down and cry. Thats when it finally hit me that Kobe was gone. A voice as cool and iconic as Lawrence Tanner's was overcome by emotion and that made me emotional. For a week of shock and denial about Kobe passing Lawrence Tanner made me accept it.
Excellently said 💯 Miss Him & GiGi dearly ❤️
That's beautiful, man. I just teared up reading your comment fr🥺 God bless both of these legends, we're lucky to have witnessed them in our lifetime! 🙏🏼
I remember that when it was happening live. It got me too
FINALLY!.. I found him, for a long time of research, he is the GOAT for me on calling players, his voice so iconic, tf, I like his voice every time he will voice out after the player's shooting the ball 🔥😌
He definitely has a Jazz type of voice. No shock that he used to work a jazz station. His voice is incredibly smooth and soothing, even in this interview
Not only should he write a book, he should also narrate the audiobook version
His PA announcing is incredible
As one person put it, Lawrence Tanter’s voice feels like home, it encompasses the tranquilizing side and aspects of Los Angeles.
ABOUT DAM TIME THEY INTERVIEW ONE OF THE BEST PA ANNOUNCERS IN SPORTS AND DEFINITELY THE BEST IN THE NBA. NOTHING LIKE GOING TO A LAKERS GAME AND HEARING HIS VOICE ECHO INSIDE THE STAPLES CENTER
boring ahh voice
When he retire I hope will get too see his final farewell speech like kobe did and his name up in the rafter with other lakers legend
voice of God
I’ve always said this!
I love him
I would love an audio clip of LT announcing "Shaquiiiiille O'Neeeeeal" after Shaq would score a basket.
Like that time against Portland back at the Forum, where he came down the lane as the trailer, and the Diesel rose up to tomahawk it home and 1 over Jermaine O'Neal.
Lawrence you're a legend
I love his announcer voice
An absolute legend!
Lawrence is iconic
Bro is a legend
Lakers legend 🏆💰
I miss the days of him saying Worrrrrrrrrrrrttthyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
Most underrated announcer in sports!
Weirdly enough he sounded more enthusiastic during the Magic era.
I agree I always wondered if it was a different pa announcer sounded so similar but different
Tanter talking to our next announcer going on to the next generation
Great Job Uncle Larry... (Kabiatu) ✊✊✊
Lakerrrr girlssssss
Kobeeee Bryannntt🏀
I remember he did the L tv before spectrum sport network on kcal 9 back then
Just like chick, this man needs a jersey with a mic retired in the rafters too when he decides to retire from PA announcing for the lakers 🙏🏽
R. Kelly looks like Marvin Gaye
KJLH DJ for the longest time!
No need for the music in the background. Ruined the interview
Not trying to hate, but his voice has to be one of the worst when it comes to announcing. Sounds very nasally and muffled and just doesn’t sound like a voice a pa guy should have. I know a lot of ppl love his voice but I just can’t see it.
I agree with you. Sounds robotic at times 😂
The dullest and snoozing announcer in the NBA.
Lakers need to fire him. The old days are LONG OVER
@Sheha Nagaraj he does not announce the home scoring players or the starting lineups for the Lakers with the energy that every PA announcer needs to have today. Yeah it’s old school but those days are LONG GONE. Lawrence Tanter needs to either get with the times or get off the mic
When I'm in heaven,I want to hear Lawrence and Les Keiter !!!
The old days are LONG OVER, but his legacy stays. You can't beat 40-year tenure of his, unless you're just an opposing fan dissing on him.
