Be careful, that ratchet seems cheap, but it’s the gateway tool into the Koken world. the price shoots up dramatically when you go for the flex heads. I really love this tool company and my only regret is not getting into them sooner.
That was great blowing on it genius now I want to see if what others can do!! Thanks for the shout-out fantastic video. I'm so excited to see others feel like they got a great purchase!!
Your definitely gonna love it. I bought the same one for like 40 bucks. Used it once and ran out and bought the long handle flex. Then grabbed the 3/8 drive flex head on a 1/4 body and its freakin tiny. Absolutely love all 3. Koken 100% rivals snap on ratchets
@@ToolDemos surprisingly..kokens new 72 tooth ratchets have lower back drag than snap on ratchets. I've been reaching for my kokens over all my snappy ratchets more often than not.
That ratchet paired with the z series extensions and sockets has very little play between the anvil and the socket even when using multiple extensions daisy chained together. It's really designed to be used with the Z series tools because of the way the fit holds the socket snug against the ratchet. There's no torsional slop between the anvil and the socket either. It's snug in all degrees of freedom. So you're combining the lowest backdrag ratchet in the industry with most precise fitting extensions and sockets for arguably the best total packages in the world. I wouldn't use them for high torque applications though because of the thin and tiny construction plus the lack of a stress relief chamfer at the base of the anvil.
Koken has priced it right for now. If they had a supply and support chain like the tool trucks, then I would be comfortable using it as a workhorse. As it is, it would be a phenomenal low clearance ratchet, spark plugs, etc.
I've been using the nut grips for a while and they are super handy. You can get their long spinner handle with wobble (1/4 or 3/8 drive) which makes a killer setup for getting nuts/bolts started.
Prices over the past couple of months have ranged from high 30's to low 60's. I was lucky and caught it on a dip at $41. At least $13 less then the next lowest price I could find online. Ads are sometimes confusing b/c the sellers are sometimes posting pics of the older 36 tooth, yet the model #'s match the newer 72 tooth version. Nice addition, and looking forward to getting more...
On Koken pricing... A few years ago I picked up some Koken sockets at about US $8 each. (Cheaper than Taiwanese-made Kincrome). And a 12" breaker bar was on special at about US $15. But buying the Koken 3725Z 72T ratchet this year in the land of Oz set me back US $79.
Instead of saying "let's test this ratchet out on a car" you should say: "well guys it's time for a tool demo" and then show it being used on a vehicle, just a thought
I have Koken’s flex 72T 3/8 ratchets in regular and long. I may need the non-flex 3/8 regular length at that price. Just to round out my collection. Koken makes the best 3/8” ratchets. The 72T just have not been out long enough to prove themselves.
@@ToolDemos Koken’s flex are all I use in 3/8”. They’re non locking. They use a spring loaded nylon pad to add friction to the joint. I avoid locking flex head ratchets. Because the lock breaks first. With the lock you can’t tell that you’re applying force in the wrong direction. But in the short ratchet I think flex may be over-kill. Maybe I’ll get the 3/8 stubby.
Koken did not mess up and under price this ratchet. Bank of Japan messed up and bought too many US treasuries. YEN is at all time lows. Bank of Japan is now going to unwind those U.S. treasury purchases and realize massive losses. This goes way beyond auto mechanic tools.
@@ToolDemos I have some of the 24tooth ratchets. I think you can still get those online for pretty good price. I got the little koken a while back. I didn't even know it was the 72 tooth version untill I watch cp video. When I ordered it it showed the one piece paw design with 36 tooth.when l purchase mine they're where still under $40 .
Ko-Ken offers great bang-for-buck quality and certainly hold their own. I love mine. I disagree about Snap-on. There prices might be out of reach for many people, but imo, they are no joke. Time-tested in the industry and for good reason. Consistent quality and reliability.
The joke is the price because with the power of the interwebs these days, no reason to get shafted by the tool trucks. People have different reasons to buy tools so no need to by a ratchet 4-5 times the price when it's not needed. Buying snap on is only to impress the boys in the shop.

You’re right, I’m already looking at their sockets.

I really like that kind of precision machining.
For the koken tools I've purchased have no disappointment in them
Koken is outstanding! I like mine better that my Nepros and they’re quite a bit cheaper to boot!
Yeah, been using it since I made the video. I really like it.

Point taken.
Koken is an awesome tool brand. Ratchets are awesome. You should try the nut grip sockets.
I saw you mention those. They do look awesome.

Yes. The nut-grips are fast becoming my go to sockets.
I have that ratchet, I actually have that ratchet with a metric socket set in foam and I really like it
I’m still using it, really like it.

Really want the titanium socket set
It's a great deal because the exchange rate is high now The dollar's worth a lot compared to the end
Works for me!
Priced just right.
Which amazon seller did you get it from ujc mart or amazon international?
Amazon Japan.
Very nice I need to get one

You should have gotten the Koken 3/8" in a 1/4" body... the head is comically small lol.
I just saw that!
Is the selector metal?
Yes it is

Right, they are very similar to Mac, ‘bout half the price.
Time to grip nuts. Lol

What about warranty?
Koken doesn’t warranty them directly, it’s up to the seller. Some sellers offer a warranty, some don’t.
