It's crazy how something so simplistic looking is the most terrifying. This is more scary than any other horror movie or video game.
just goes to show that more isnt always better. you dont have to be in someones face to scare the shit out of them. i played omori recently, and all it took to scare me was looking in the mirror and seeing something directly behind me. i stared at the screen for the longest time, afraid to move because i didnt want to look behind me and have it still be there. it was simple. there was no jumpscare, or loud violin sting. and that was more scary, because it didnt feel like the creators were shaking me by the shoulders like "YOURE SCARED, RIGHT?!" it was just there. and then it was gone. and i was left to try and figure out what tf just happened.

For anyone wondering about the basement/attic thing, I believe it's explained in one of the later games. At least, it's referenced. I'd recommend Wendigoon's video about the series-he does a really good job of explaining things.

The fact Mark acknowledges how ridiculous it sounds for a priest to go "Smell ya later!" and such after murdering someone, but then keeps doing it is one of the many reasons he's my favourite on here.

@@r.j.penfold Well, I suppose. Spanish and English share the same letters except for the "ñ", so there's always coincidences. But given the whole "San la muerte" which is "Saint death" in Spanish, and that the demon even says something like "Hijo de puta" "Son of a bitch", I think it's something in Spanish.

Little fun fact here: The voice used in the game is actually a real voice synthesis program which was originally meant for the Commodore 64, which is an old 8-bit computer and is also what the games graphics are inspired by.

Mark casually vibing to Moonlight Sonata is one of my favorite moments in Markiplier history.
Faith is genuinely one of if not my favorite horror game series. I love pixel horror and I love horror with religious themes, and this is a wonderful mixture of both.
Is there other religious horror you reccomend?
@@duckfilms3662 sorry for late response! Blasphemous and Blasphemous 2 are combat/exploration (think dark souls) religious horror games based specifically around the Spanish Inquisition. Both are really good. Outlast is always a classic but it doesnt itch the same scratch for me. Darkwood is a game that isnt strictly religious horror but it has a good artstyle and it definitely includes some religious themes throughout (pagan and christian).

The style of the game makes the occasional smooth and fluid animations stand out that much more and be that much more terrifying

That style of animation is called rotoscoping, it's done by essentially tracing live action footage and then playing just the tracings

The cutscenes bother me, actually. It really takes me out of the experience seeing an Atari-styled game with limited frames of animation and then suddenly seeing a fully-animated, beautifully-drawn cutscenes.

'The hunter' ending was honestly my favorite ending of them all. It added this extra bit of absurdity and supernatural feeling to it. The deer killing John had nothing to do with the main plot, which makes it even more intriguing imo. The music/sound design during that last scene combined with John's perceived desperation while he drags himself toward his crucifix really made it extra eerie to me. It had nothing to do with the main plot, but it sure didn't feel out of place.

I love how this game turns people into men of the cloth. They start playing and instantly they're compelling demons and calling on the lords power like they've been in the faith their entire lives lol
This game is supposed to be scary, but the way mark reacts just lightens the mood and makes it funnier.
