  • Here we have some Heroscape armies put together by THE GRAND DUKE himself. Each army shown is accompanied by a short rundown of the overall strategy that should be used with that particular army.

I used to "play" heroscape in elementary school without knowing much of the rules...almost 15 years later I find myself drawn back to this game, nostalgia for heroscape is so strong. and glad to see there's still content being made in 2020!

Love this video thank you for posting this! Love to see that people are still playing. My only comment would be that some of these armies would have a tough time against the elf warriors (their name escapes me at the moment) they are so incredibly powerful in that they negate melee units almost completely.

    Awesome work bud!
Your love of Utgar, Einar, and bonding teams really shows. I'd like to see more armies, especially a few Ullar and Vydar ones ;)

Thanks, my friend! Ullar and Vydar will definitely have a presence in future videos.

Sweet! There aren't that many videos out there that just analyze army builds, so I can definitely see myself watching more of these!
Though one of those builds does kinda confuse me: for that SBN/Ashigaru army, why not just use marro stingers instead of the Ashigaru? They're a solid squad that boasts better stats and SBN synergy for the same point cost. Sure they're a 3-man squad rather than a 4-man, but the army doesn't seem to need any extra bodies and you already have dividers acting as a screen to keep 'em safe

Thanks for the feedback! Looking at the build again, the Stingers are a very solid and likely better choice for most situations. For some situations with the Harquebus, I like to be able to activate 4 units for 4 attacks in a turn, especially when dealing with common squad rabble on the opposing team. However, you're absolutely right! The Stingers' attacks will be more effective on average compared to the Harquebus, and they also benefit from SBN's Hive Supremacy. I'll try to use that modified army in a game soon!

Nice video, I hope you do more. A couple of tweaks that I would make, would be: 1. Gladiator team, 3 squads, Crixus and Spartacus. Just a beast of an army. 2. As someone mentioned above, replace the Harquebus with Stingers, they are way better, and have more synergy with the team. 3. Knight team, I would go with Knights x3, Sir Gilbert and Nilfheim. Sir Dupuis is fun but Nilfheim is so much better, especially with a knight screen. Obviously everyone’s play style is different though and what works for me might not work for you.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I like the tweaks you mentioned.
      1) With the gladiators, I decided to add some range to that build instead of Spartacus, but adding inspiration to the gladiators with Spartacus instead increases their survival rate substantially. It's a solid choice indeed.
      2) Harquebus vs. Stingers response on other comment. In short, good observation!
      3) You know, I agree with you. Thanks for pointing that out! While Sir Dupuis works well here, Nilfheim can probably do better. He offers more targeting flexibility and is still reasonably difficult to take down.
      Good suggestions! I love them!
