    Truth be told I love the Paradise video by Coldplay. It weirdly fits meaning of the song with trapped soul trying to escape into its own paradise. And it is much more interesting to watch than majority of videos with singer doing the sexy dance for a camera.

    The paradise music video is wholesome. It's about fitting in and finding where you belong.
    In the music video Chris/Elephant has escaped the zoo and is trying to find his home and shows his journey getting there and in the end he finds his bandmates/elephant friends and they are happy, hence it feels like paradise. I think it's nice.

    Actually ironically I feel like the Paradise music video fits the vibe exactly. Sure, the chorus is the word "paradise" over and over again, but the lyrics of the verse basically say that the "paradise" dreamt of by the main character was just a unattainable dream by someone drowning in daily life. The imagery of Chris Martin in a dirty elephant costume being out of place in an enormous landscape devoid of life is fits with the theme of feeling alone and isolated.

If you watch it with the sound muted, then the video shows how we humans takes wild animals from their natural habitat and train them to do as we want them to do. And when an animal is hit by a car, often the animal is just left by the road, with the driver just leaving the animal without bothering to check if the animal is dead or to even pull the dead animal to the side of the road.

    Nope, Michael Jackson's music video is not bad, it is a nice gathering and you can play a 'who can you spot' game with a lot of famous people and gives a nice tribute to those who left us too early eg Robin Williams.

    • @Misshimedere
      @Misshimedere 2 года назад +23

      It's not that the music video itself is bad. I'm with you and I find it very fun to watch and spot the celebrity with. It's the song he chose to pair it WITH that I think is the issue here. Liberian Girl is... it's a love letter to put it simply. So the visuals with the intent of the song and lyrics just don't mesh.

    One important thing about Dancing in The Street is that they're dancing... but it's inside, not in the street. I mean, does it change later on in the video? I don't think so, lol.

    Liberian Girl started out looking like it would be like a remember the time type video, then it turned into a nothing celebrity video. The appeal of a Michael Jackson video is seeing him emote and dance incredibly with an amazing aesthetic and this video has none of these.

    If you want "celebrity cameo for celebrity's sake" done right, look at What We Do In The Shadows. The series, not the film. Actually, watch both, they're great, but in the series, they have several actors who have at some point played vampires, showing up as themselves (as the actors, not their characters) being actual vampires.
    But I feel like that sort of thing would only work in a comedy setting like that. Anything else, and it just feels forced.
