You made a very interesting and telling point when you said, "most bespoke mechanical features are problematic". Absolutely true! All one of a kind designs have problems written all over them. But for the people who want them it only matters in the time to brainstorm any problems and not in the cost of doing so. Money is never the problem.

“In my experience anything bespoke which is mechanical is problematic “ 😂 has anyone told the buyer he’s being stitched up for never ending snagging repair costs??? and not enough water for the shower, small beds (nb without stabilizers). Perhaps the only way to know you’re at sea and not in a claustrophobic hotel is the bed at an angle. At the bridge has a stitched leather steering wheel for bad weather. Your commentary is wonderful. Thank you.

I imagine carpet on a super expensive party yacht would be super hard to keep clean. Giorgio Armani knew what this yacht would be used for and designed it perfectly.

    • @hb1338

Yes, but. Carpet and rugs are surely the things that most make a place feel like a home rather than a hotel or museum.

    • @bukovvy
      @bukovvy 2 месяца назад

Carpets are a very British thing, I guess. Not very popular in Italy, you'll see tiles and bare wooden floors at homes, maybe a rug, but not a carpet. It looks stylish and is healthier, actually, when you think of all those germs and allergens carpets are full of ;)

I am now hooked on your channel, ever since I found you talking about the Bayesian sinking. A few years ago I saw that a superyacht called ILONA was going to be in London in 2012 for the Olympics. I had to go and see it. I have photo's, and a souvenir t-shirt, but they couldn't allow me to go on board for a look around. It was so exciting for me because in the UK my name is quite unusual. I have just looked on Marine Traffic and see that it is berthed at Palma Majorca at the moment. It is interesting to see how the other half lives. ILONA

If that were my yacht and you showed me your ID with your name matching my yacht I would have let you take a tour around.

A bit like the possibly problematic aft saloon doors on "Bayesian"?
Too many of these super luxury vessels are not the kind of thing I would ever want to take to sea in anything above a Force 3 breeze. A huge bundle of problems waiting to go wrong.
Good luck to the crew and I hope the owner has deep pockets and an unlimited supply of patience.

Yay finally another yacht tour from esysman!
What I really like and what makes your tours unique is your eye for technical details.
White teak insert looks awesome but is more expensive than black insert.
Small boats have their pros, such as feeling more familial, less worries with port restrictions or shallow areas, ability to hire crew with more low key qualifications (aka greater talent pool).
Does anyone know who designed this small beauty? You could have mentioned that as there were really no clue😀
Fire is the greatest threat to any vessel not sinking... Italian Sea Group: "Puh that guy got the curve last minute and avoided a lawsuit"
Impressive that they got a touch-and-go helipad on the bow despite the size of the vessel. That yacht has actually everything you could ask for despite it's size.

2:50 "I think that's probably a 65 meter television. I'm not sure." Silly British trying to convert. 😜 It's maybe a 65 inch. You're forgiven since you do a yacht tour about once a year. 😁
3:08 "This is a small boat, 2499 gross tons." With his cruise ship background, I think anything under 100 meters eSysman calls "small." 😆 For the rest of us, usually anything under 80 feet is "small." Although, later he refers to it as 499 gross tons, which is probably accurate.

At the end, you mention that the cameras appear to be fixed. That may be true, and you probably already know this, but one of the reasons for the bubble lens over the camera is not only to draw less attention. It also obsures any camera motion if they are redirected and doesn't make it obvious what they are looking at, at any given time. This is a great channel by the way, and you make a very good narrative host. I'll never afford a super yacht, but nonetheless, I'm addicted to your channel.

Great comment about the galley -- it looked really tight to work in. I found the use of marble-looking walls distinctive but a bit odd. The crew hallways were so narrow -- no way to pass someone going the other way. Oh well, I hope the owner likes it.

The main fridge and freezer are probably near the food store, which is usually well away from any of the guest areas. I'm surprised that there is nothing like a dumb waiter to allow heavy items to be moved easily.

Some observations from a very interesting vessel.
Looks like a possible dayhead, forward starboard - main deck past the dining.
You said 65 *meter* size TV -- now that would be interesting.
In the galley, dark cabinets always make the room look smaller.
The convection oven is actually the cooktop.
Appears to be a dumbwaiter in the aft section of the galley.
Entering master you said no carpets, yet, main deck salon seating area had them.
Upper deck missed day head, mid-ship starboard.
Dining on upper deck - middle of table is a "lazy susan".
Bench in shower for crew is for ladies to shave legs.
On the bow with the "H" in the center it looks like a touch and go for helicopter.
These are not criticisms on the video. So please do not take it that way. 🤗 🍷

  • @jfmezei

On being just inder 500 gross tons, Milton recently visited Florida and I watched the progress of Coast Guard preparting ports and issuing their "port conditions". During Port condition Yankee, ships over 500 gross tons require captain of the port's permission to enter and all those above 500 inside the port *should* be making plans to leave (unless they get special permission from COTP). (and the rules vary from area of responsibility to the next. (rules on the St-Petersburg (which include Tampa) were different from those of Miami area for instance. )

  • @eeeeegod
    @eeeeegod 2 месяца назад +2

Was that a touch and go heli-pad? The galley looks like a place where everything can slide off the counters while you're bumping your head into the oversized center cabinets. No sky lounge but a double bar? It's very Casa Armani but I've watched these vids long enough to see how the crew and function was not the focus.

Thank you for the candid remarks--that, unlike other reviewers, are critical as well as complimentary. I must have expected more textural and material interest from a design by Giorgio Armani (because Italian yacht interiors by "less famous" names are beautifully finished), but the emphasis here seems to be on fine architectural detailing (ceilings, walls, floors with no trim--which is not easy to accomplish) rather than fine interior design (finishes, fabrics, colors that distinguish GA fashions). Surprises include: the mismatched stone panels on the dining table, the so-what flooring in the owner's cabin, ho hum fabrics and materials in the main lounge, galley counter...Thank you, esysman!

I have to say I hate the onyx-marble on the corridors and dining area on the man deck. To my eye it looks cheep and reminiscent of a public toilet tile. But I guess as someone who will never own a yacht of any size my taste is very different from someone who can afford one. The owner is possibly from a very hot country that would figure for the lack of carpets.

On the "no carpet" on the master bedroom floor: on a ship designed for summer/hot/humid weather, i would find this better, and also far easier to keep clean and odrour free. And if you are to put in a nice expensive wooden floor, why not show it off? Carperted guest deck = cheaper floor.

On the panel below bridge instruments. RUclips compression doesn't help but it doesn't look like carbon fibre. A "for show" carbon fibre panel generally has a reflective surface (the epoxy) and the challenge is to have a *perfect* thin epoxy without any air bubbles so that it makes for perfect refective surface with no imperfections. The surface you showed lacked that reflective surface (and carbon fibre is generally black).

This could be a little insight as to why the some owners don't want carpet is because a person who dislikes the feeling of carpet on their feet could be described as having tactile hypersensitivity; this means they have a heightened sensitivity to touch, which can manifest as discomfort or aversion to specific textures like carpet. Another theory/guess is the thought of how dirty carpets can be, even if the crew cleans it everyday.

Seems to have a pretty poor field of view from the bridge. Is that common?

The 242 foot super yacht Em&M is anchored directly in front of my house on the Hudson River off George’s Island. I have pictures and a video which I would like to send you. How can I do that.

I thought when RUclipsrs get invited onto a SY you had to say only great things about the boat. Not you though. It's refreshing. Good luck getting invited back. Cheers

Question: during lifetime of a ship, do TV and other electronic toys get regularly replaced/upgraded with newer models as a rolling upgraded (which ship is on water, at a port or even during long trip with all the new TVs in boxes) of would this happen only during a more major refit at a dry dock facility ? With TVs so integrated into the walls, just curoius how specific they are or whether they are pretty muc standard models that can easily be replaced by another TV of equal size?

I am told that there is a standard size hole, into which is inserted an adapter which is customised for the specific television in use. The adapters are very cheap compared with the televisions they hold.

She's stunning; wouldn't call her inviting, though. I almost never criticize a style choice of a yacht, because I'm not a qualified buyer, but the GA logo everywhere is tacky as hell . . . still, someone will like it, no doubt.

It’s a hotel put on a hull. I just don’t get it. Might as well vacation at a Hilton.

Maybe the super-rich think of hotels as luxurious places, maybe they spend more time in hotels than they do at home.
