These three videos are excellent . Clearly and honestly communicated. Thank you for making these ; they will save lives in the States and worldwide.
From a 70 yo retired male without heart or any other health issues, thanks for the reminders in your 3 part series. I worked in an occupation of mostly males. When I traveled with them in the field I was appalled by their restaurant menu selections. Those with diabetes were the worst, one who had a heart attack said he did not eat salads, so I took his. They treated food as a reward for a job well done. Frustrating because this carelessness affected my health insurance contribution, employer was self insured.
Thanks for your comment Rick. Food can be medicine or poison, it is surprising that many if not most people don't understand it! Keep healthy!!
I watched all 3 vids of the series and they are very enlightening. Congratulations!
I fall into 2 of the dumbest categories: little exercise and not so good a diet at my age (58). My last cardio scan a few months ago showed all is in good shape!
Regards from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🇧🇷
I'm 65, nice and thin, eat a good healthy diet, never smoked, don't drink, play a lot of tennis, don't use drugs, my blood sugar is perfect and live a healthy life style. I even grow a lot of my own food. However, I have heart problems, especially afib. I guess it's genetic since my mom had afib too. I wish all the good lifestyle habits would outweigh that one genetic thing but apparently it does not. Thanks for your videos as they are very informative.
Excellent, Dr. Ritter. I like your frank style.
Watched all three , thank every point was very valid! Going was a health walk right after this.
#12 Stressful lifestyle. Fights, arguments, etc are bad for you bp and heart. Also a high stress job is no good when it comes to heart health.
Yeah but I would say it's relatively minor, I know people who reached high age and they got upset about almost anything
Excellent videos Doc. It's great that you're trying to help people. Poor sleep would be a great addition to your list. Wishing you the best !
Thanks for the positive feedback Ring Spanner! You are right, poor sleep deserves a mention, It could definitely be plunked on to the list somewhere in the middle!
Thanks for the video series.
Thanks for watching Keith!
Thank you so much.. very encouraging!!brilliant talk!!♥️
surprised stress and lack of sleep are not on the list
New to your videos and newly subscribed!! So straight to the point, and simplified where anybody can easily understand. Newly dx with AFib. Trying to learn all I can and do my part to help my heart stay as healthy as possible! Thank you for posting these videos!
Thanks for the positive feedback Gloria!
Smokin a valve. Now, that's a good one.
Dental health is also directly related to heart health. For example Gum disease is related to high bp.
Great advice
My dad is taking aspirin, rosuvastati, clopidegrol still he has agina after walking like 200m or minor exercise.
Now what can he do to get better?
For to have an artificial heart that last forever, there is still a long way off, though
Or what do you know about it??
What amount of exercise?
hi a a, I personally shoot for 1 1/2 hour per day. i do weightlifting and basketball, and running. I try to mix it it all up so I don't get injured.
Here is a nice article that talks some about the amount of exercise that is associated with better longevity.

The problem with studies of this subject though, is that that we can't tell if the exercise makes the person healthier, or instead if the fact that people exercise is just an indicator that their health is better (association vs causation).
Interesting how bad a sedate style is up there with drug use ….. I’m love an espresso coffee or two ( max ) a day is this a dumb thing to be doing after a stent surgery.
Hello Doctor, I have a question.
So my mom has high blood pressure since she was 30 years old. She has never been overweight and eats healthy only. However, she has been having high blood pressure for about 15 years. Currently she is taking Polpril (Ramiprilum/ 10mg) daily however the medication doesn't work efficiently enough. When the pressure gets too high (over 160/100) she takes Captopril 12.5mg and it seems to work.
For the past two months she has been having blood pressure of 160/100 almost daily, and non of the medications works well. What should we do to lower the blood pressure? Should she take Captopril more often since it worked a bit?
Hi HelloPolly, when my patients are running 160/100, and are on ramipril 10 mg (or similar medication like lisinopril), I add another medication, like amlodipine or chlorthalidone. 10 mg is generally the highest dose of ramipril, and captopril is similar to ramipril, so I would not have person take captopril every day on top of ramipril. It is ok here and there for a high blood pressure, but I wouldn’t expect it to work on an everyday basis to control the pressure. I hope this answers your question!
Maybe you can add getting root canals. The bacteria left in your teeth runs through your body.
But doc
The best thing bout waking up
Is cocaineee in my cuuuup!!
Jk xD 😆
You're number (1); I hope falls on the ears of those that need it before they make that decision to use illegal drugs. I think it'll make the difference. People need to promote "CardioGauge" so it can reach more of the right people, and not just those with a heart problem. I have no known heart issues and decided to listen for the HEALTH OF IT. Better yet; RUclips should use the AI to help expose good info. from doctors. Everyone wins.
Thanks for watching J F, and for understanding my mission to try to help people with legitimate information!!
Also, eating disorders, i.e., anorexia and bulimia, are very bad for the heart. The world lost Karen Carpenter prematurely because her heart failed, due to the cumulative effect of her eating disorders. People with eating disorders do not intentionally harm themselves, but it is a complex psychological disorder which must be treated.
So so sad. Thanks for posting your thoughts.
The worst is probably not eating right and not doing anything, just see people, about half if not more are obese
What happened to smoking cigarettes?
Let me save you some time. Don’t do drugs and take exercise. Wow,never. 🙈
Stress seems to be a risk. Not sure I captured your thoughts on that. I might do some classical music or not react to things or get exercise. Or is stress something more medical? Magnesium seems to reduce stress/anxiety? Its not a supplement but its not sufficient in food these commercial days. Is magnesium in any way medical for you guys?
Statin is bad too
Won't mention keto
Thanks for your brevity and clarity.
I had a heart attack with both main arteries clogged 99%, one stint put in, on 80 mg Atorvastatin.
Quit sugar, lost 30 lbs
Walk and run daily. Eat mainly just meat and veggies and feel much better.
Not sure I could do just a plant based diet.
Thanks for the info.

Right on the money with regard to your #2, sedentary lifestyle is metabolically damaging to our overall body functions. Some researchers on PubMed and other studies have claimed physical inactivity is almost worse if not as harmful as smoking. Was a personal trainer for years, but now in nursing school. I'm also using your videos to beef up my comprehension for pharmacology, they are straight and to the point.
M K thanks for watching and good luck with your training, experience as personal trainer and RN a great combination!!
Good stuff, thanks.
Сan I please ask you a question about cardiology? I had a left ventricle 45% ejection fraction half a year ago, and now my ejection fraction after treatment with carvadilol is 50%. Is this ejection fraction enough for exercises, or should the ejection fraction be more than 50%? I used to have an ejection fraction 60% four years ago, then I was still involved in fitness, but then suddenly it dropped to 45% and it became hard do the exercises. Now it has risen to 50% after treatment with carvadilol . My cardiologist said that is not a big difference between ejection fractions 50 and 60 %. Is it true that is not a big difference between ejection fractions 50 and 60 %?
Hi Dima, I agree with your cardiologist's statement that there is not a big difference between ejection fractions 50 and 60%. Many people with totally normal heart function have ejection fraction 50%. I have many patients who exercise at the gym with ejection fractions of 30 or even 20%. I even have a couple patients who exercise with ejection fractions of 10%. In general, I don't limit my patients on the basis of ejection fraction. Of course you have to ask your doc what is ok for you. Here is a link to some pointers about exercise and heart failure (which doesn't necessarily apply directly to you, however, it does apply to many people with abnormal ejection fraction). my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/17075-heart-failure-exercise
Best Wishes!
@@CardioGauge Thank you very much for your answer!
Thank you very much for the videos you are making. Can you please elaborate more on what means being inactive and how much exercise per day and what kind of exercise, according to your observations, improve heart health. It would also be interesting to hear about exercise for people who are suffering from heart disease (ex.: valve prolapse, etc.). Thank you in advance!
Thanks. Living in the mountains and stuck inside during the winter months (really). But I need more exercise during this time of year. You gave me the motivation to do it. :)
I have a very high calcium CT score and I have an interest in getting an Atherectomy of my four coronary arteries. I live in the SW of the US. Please comment on atherectomy effectiveness and please recommend a facility where the procedure can be performed.
Dr sir really very informative seres thanks 15/06/2020
I actually knew a 25 year old who died from a heart attack on coke shocking
Thank you for the great advice!
Thank you Doc
Thanks,comfort
Why is exercise good for your heart? I know that may seem like a silly question but doesn't exercise do all the things to your body that cocaine does? Especially strenuous anaerobic exercise?
Satimy I believe even 5 mins of a light ANAEROBIC exercise can kill you.
