You know what’s weird, I was that one kid that just use my hands to push the train itself. I kind of had this weird mind as a kid pretending to be the conductor as I push it forward.
The 12 Volt trains of the sixties, seventies and eighties were never sold with a transformer. Purchasing a transformer would add a significant extra cost to the allready expensive trainsets.
@@leggomyjameso6082You're welcome. I have a couple of lego catalogues from 1981 till 1990 (last year of the 12V sets) with the prices (!!) of the sets. The price of a transformer was simply shockingly high. I can imagine kids back then having been disappointed when realizing they got an extremely expensive 12V set with everything included (motor, conducting rails)... but no transformer... But anyway thank *you* for your video's!
Now I need to buy it and see what’s wrong with it. Don’t worry I will be sending you a Lego set for winning awhile back. I’m sorry I’ve been delayed on that
So it came with the train motor and lights, but not the transformer and power station? Strange. I also think you forgot to show us those lights working on the train. Needed a better, closer angle, or at least with less ambient light, since those old Lego incandescent lights aren't all that bright. Loved the old "power functions" and I think they're better than their modern replacements in a lot of ways. It's a shame that Lego never though of making pieces to make newer Power Functions or Powered Up backwards compatible. Also think it's lame they switched solely to regular batteries without any kind of ability to use line power from a wall, or at least replaceable rechargeable batteries. Cool video, and thanks for sharing. New subscriber here.
I agree! I wish the 9V was still sold by Lego. Thank you, I’ll get better shots of the lights next train video:) thank you for helping me improve my videos, I do like the feedback
Nice Video and an awesome set ! But the fact that the crane fits on the traincar, is actually shown on the inside top picture of the cover. You show it yourself at 12:08 in the video ;)
It’s just like when you open a toy that takes batteries but your parents didn’t think to get them for Christmas. It makes for the Worst Christmas afternoon ever. Lol

No shame. I did that too.
I did that too with non motorized train sets! It was still fun. This one was just a strange case because it had the motor
I think the worst set to give to an average kid is the braille set for a language they havent ever even heard of

I started to realized this when I got my first 12V set. It makes sense. Thank you!
