My guess to why these sets are so affordable is because they have to license it from Epic Games. Epic Games notouriously likes to invest a lot of money in order to keep growing and growing (think the weekly free games on the Epic Games Store). So they might see this as a way to reach an even broader audience for Fortnite.
Fortnite is massive, LEGO is definitely trying to pull in some of that market. When this line continues with more sets in the future I think it'll be slightly less affordable but still a good deal
2:23 That is the backpack the players drop when eliminated. It contains your inventory, and you have to return to the location where you were eliminated and retrieve it.
I wonder if Fortnite gave them a break on licensing fees considering they have a devoted Lego game mode. This deal is much more than just IP license. Brilliant move, no one wants to pay $175 for a banana, even if it has intestines.
Also am I the only one that thought that peely’s brain was at the bottom? Here me out ok peels doesn’t have a youknowwhat so I thought he just didn’t need to eat and it would be kind of interesting that his brain is at the bottom, I know now that’s his intestines.
Its actually incredible. A bus drops you on an island with 100 other people. You have to find loot quickly and survive, all the while marxists steal your time on this earth with their dumb colportage and effectivelly steal your testosterone and gray matter, propelling you into dementia while they introduce communism to everyone in reality. Its super cool.
Never played Fortnite but Peely is such a unique build. The sheer anatomical detail is amazing and the descision to include guts is just so cool. Might just get it.
I'd put myself somewhere between "doesn't care about" and "actively dislikes" Fortnite, and I have to admit that these sets are mindblowingly good even without the amazing price. Compare to the recent Harry Potter or Star Wars releases and these are just much more thoughtful and unique, with very little to dislike or gripe about. I wonder if these are meant to be almost a loss leader for Lego, getting new fans into the hobby etc., but even if they are, the amount of effort put into these is incredible. 10/10 lineup.
This lineup reminds me how it feels to look at some new Lego sets and say “yeah, that’s a good deal! I’d pay full price for most of those!” I feel like so many Lego sets have felt overpriced and don’t seem that they should command the price they ask for what they offer. It’s refreshing to see a whole wave of sets from a new theme that isn’t insanely expensive. Great value on these and I’ll be buying most of them! Thanks for the review!
So bad news for anyone hoping to do what's suggested at 6:53 - the left train door hasn't been made in yellow in the modern version (43967), and in the older variant (4181), it turned up in yellow in exactly ONE set, set 7735 Freight Train from 1985. Used copies of this part with wear/scratches average £5 each, and don't even bother looking at new cost (£17/each). You need three of them, and since the set only contained one left yellow door, it's not viable to track down three copies of the set either.
I'm sure the $1billion dollars Lego invested into Fortnite two years ago, and the fact that they already share a license deal from the in game Lego sets being sold in Fortnite have a lot to do with the cheaper than normal prices.
There are a lot of possible factors as to why the Battle Bus set has that amount of Minifigures: - Epic Games and The LEGO Group's Minifigure designers had already adapted a bunch of _Fortnite's_ original characters into Minifigure forms for the _LEGO Fortnite_ game. - I can count five new molds for the Minifigures included in the Battle Bus LEGO Set. What helps is that a good majority of _Fortnite_ characters are humans that may not need new piece molds. - Meanwhile, the Minifigure designers for the LEGO _Sonic_ and _Animal Crossing_ sets basically have to make new Minifigure piece molds for each new character introduced, explaining the limited cast size. (Even I found it egregious that Super Sonic introduced a new head mold, when they easily could have just redecorated Shadow's head mold.) -(And if you bring up _LEGO Dimensions,_ remember that a lot of that game's Minifigures were designed by Traveler's Tales, not The LEGO Group, explaining why some characters like Eggman, Amy, and Knuckles look completely different compared to how they looked like in Traveler's Tales' game, versus how they were designed by The LEGO Group in 2022/2023.)
Lego signed a $1B partnership with Epic Games, which makes Fortnite. So this might explain the lower (maybe even subsidized?) prices for these sets, making them part of a bigger, strategic play.
The battle bus is such a good deal for 2024 prices, you have to wonder how much Disney is charging in license fees, cause a star wars set of a similar size with 9 minifigs of that detail is unheard of
There was a potent confusion in the "What? How is this possible?!" When mentioning the Llama's price. I felt the exact same way when i saw it for the first time
Was big into Fortnite when I was 14 and the Battle Royale mode was just getting popular, I'm delighted at the Battle Bus especially and am amazed at the minifig selection, detail and price. Definitely getting that one!
I don’t play Fortnite, but I’m glad LEGO put aside door in the middle, which is an emergency door for the side of the bus which is a cool feature on the bus
I have no strong opinions on Fortnite either positive or negative, but it looks like Lego went really hard with these builds, and I'm even tempted to get that peely bone figure.
yeah Fortnite is very fun actually and they work with many brands and figures such as singers, RUclipsrs, tv shows, and they partnered with lego last year and made a whole game mode plus that peely character is a character you can play as the mascot of the game
Those sets are so cool, having played fortnite for years I'm really tempted by the llama and battle bus 👀 What I'm really looking to see is a fortnite cmf series since almost all Lego skins in-game look beautiful and the battle bus shows they translate perfectly in real life
I don't care about fortnite at all, but the peely bone model is actually really cool. That Piñata model is also incredible, and for that price I can see a lot of builders picking it up specifically for all those flat and curved slope pieces in unique colors.
Peely Bone is the kind of set I've wanted for YEARS! I have always been obsessed with the half skeleton / half normal concept. Fortnite is not my thing so it doesn't completely resonate with me, but I think I'm still gonna have to pick it up since I don't know if/when they will ever do something like that again.
I'm in love with the Loot Llama and bus, started playing the game a few years ago with my teen daugther, nowadays it's just me and some other adult friends playing. ; )
Me when I saw the line, I might get the bus because of the figures but the Llama the Banana guy look so meh. Me after watching this video, I guess I'll get them all. 😅
Good question. That might be tricky since the non-skeleton side seems to be what’s holding the skeleton together. But with some extra white pieces to complete the skeleton, it might be possible. A full banana Peely seems more doable though.
As an avid fortnite fan, we are absolutely EATING with this wave and i cant wait to see what else they do with the license. Fortnite is the perfect brand for a dedicated CMF series
as long as fortnite keeps making skins and making versions of those skins into minifigs for the lego fortnite gamemode (doing half the work on actually getting those characters as real minifigs), lego should have no issue pushing out CMF waves
I personally have no interest in Fortnite, but that 77071 Llama looks like a well priced parts pack if you are into shades of blue and purple. Can't wait to see what MOCs the designers active on Rebrickable will be able to make from those pieces.
These prices are not only LEGO, this is Epic probably forfeiting any revenue from these sets. The deal between LEGO and Epic is a partnership, not LEGO licensing some IP. Epic can use LEGO IP for the game, LEGO can use Fortnite IP for sets. Is an incredible Win-Win where everyone gains! If only Disney did a similar partnership to be able to produce LEGO Movies in exchange for forfeiting their share of LEGO sets revenue, we would all gain with that.
I'm not into Fortnite whatsoever, but that Peely Bone set... My god do I absolutely adore it. I might even even buy it because I love everything about it. I hate stickers with burning passion, but, as Tiago said, that one single banana sticker is soooo appropriate
I've never played Fortnite, but I might still buy all of these and give the game a chance too! This line of sets really puts other themes to shame with it's fun and value.
Never played the game nor do I take interest in the whole "battle royale" styled games, but the Battle Bus seems like a really cool set and one I'd like to get. I just always liked the design since I first saw it when Fortnite came out, it's nonsensical but in a fun and charming way with it being used like a balloon basket with some cool greebly detailing that I'm a sucker for.
Completely agree! It's all I can think of when hearing about Fortnite. That and people shooting at each other and then building wooden walls out of thin air... like what?! 😅
Very awesome review. I love these sets. Hopefully they will do more of them in the future. Great price points as well. Very surprising. I wish all Lego products were priced like these.
New moulds, side printed legs and so many pieces, almost feels like Epic Games is paying Lego to make Fortnite sets, instead of Lego paying for the license
the games fun I see why you find it confusing they work with several brands you can play as tv show characters like rick and morty, spiderman and john wick and even popular singers too theres even more than just shooting theres relaxing game modes and they even do concerts too
I don't care one bit about Fortnite, but that Peely Bone was love at first sight. Gotta have that one! The other sets also eem great for what they are, but too specific for me.
Im very impressed, everything looks just like it should from the game, these minifigures are amazing and they have as much detail as the lego styles for the skins do in game. Keep in mind the epic has been creating minifigure versions of every skin in the game so we can expect even more unique and detail minifigures in the upcoming lego sets
Great video. I’m still blown away by the price. Would love to see this more often with non-IP themes. Disney might be charging them up the wazoo, but that’s no excuse for every other theme.

@@EvanCatani facts. I already preordered all 4 sets. I’m so excited for this October!!!!
Wow, the Battle Bus is basically its own CMF line.
That's an amazing way to look at it!

"no one wants to pay $175 for a banana, even if it has intestines." 😂 😂 you're probably right!

My guess is that Lego gets a cut for every skin sold with a Lego version. That would explain the chapter prices

Fortnite is fun you should try it :)
