I knew that the grass gym leader was Ramos. I only knew his name cause I always think of him as the least memorable gym leader, which makes him oddly memorable.
X and Y are un-ironically some of my favourite Pokémon games, I love how huge the regional dex is and how early you can get some cool mons it’s not just bugs, zubat and geodude for the first few gyms. I know that kinda plays into most people main complaint that the games are easy but the fact you can have things like khangaskan, bagon, rhyhorn and lucario before the second gym was just a breath of fresh air, shame they balanced it around kids using the bugs and Zubats and not around the stronger Pokémon you can find
They're amazing games. Tired of people saying they're too easy lol just do hardcore nuzlockes or move along 🤣 some people love that they're easier than earlier gens, but i do agree it is a shame.
Recognized the naming theme when you named Pidgey after Risa Hawkeye. 😂 EDIT: Grass Gym Leader is called Ramos. It's funny that's the one you considered most forgettable since he's often the only one I remember. 🤣 Though that might be a language thing since Spanish is my first language and Ramos is a Hispanic name, lol.
I was excited to see Gogoat for this one. I caught an adamant skiddo the first time I played Y, and boxed it. I never used it and I straight up traded it to my ORAS game and left it to rot for 3 years while I played other games. I finally decided to trade it to a new game and taught it Leech seed, Horn leech, bulk up and Aerial ace. Needless to say it destroyed everything in it's path and I sadistically used it against grass types because of sap sipper. I swept Siebold (?) Drazna, and half of the steel guy's team. He also destroyed Diantha's hawlucha, gourghiest and goodra, and was so buffed up by the time she mega evolved her gardevoir, he outsped and 1 shot it with horn leech.
Highest level dies after each gym battle (you choose if tied). I've used this rule and it makes you level your team differently especially if you limit grinding bc it makes your choices in common battle change.
Swalot is one of my favorite trash-tier mons, and conveniently, it basically is literally actual trash. My favorite draft league moment, tho, is killing an amoonguss with a flynium-z bounce sawsbuck. I’ll always have a soft spot for sawsbuck for that reason. Also my man getting that sponsorship 👀
I think I remember Ramos’ name because X/Y was the first game I played when I came back to the series. Gogoat was one of the first Pokémon I saw in the marketing and I really liked it for some reason (still like it). But I think that’s why I remember a lot from these games
You know why I remember Ramos? Because when I was like, 14 playing X, I was in the battle chateau to level a bunch of new egg babies with the EXP share. I had my level 100 chestnaught and a party of single digit level babies. Of course, at this point in the game, I was battling gym leaders and the former-champion in the chateau and things were going great! Then I got to Ramos. Now, my memory is terrible, so I don’t fully remember the move set this chestnaught had, but his ONLY offensive moves were grass type. And Ramos’s ace has sap sipper. I was forced to use spiky shield to chip away at his gogoat. I refused to let any of the babies get hurt bc I was an idiot. It was terrifying. It took SO long. Bless you, Jacob, my beloved starter, for putting up with my dumbass ❤️

I have settled it. Your name theme weirdly inspired me to name my pokemon altered team after windwaker islands. Don't ask me why but your nuzlockes randomly made me remember name themes despite others doing them too.
Ironic that every nuzlocker complaining about how forgettable Ramos is has caused me to remember him better. I'd say the gen 6 psychic leader is the least memorable to me at this point.

What's interesting about most PU and Untiered Pokemon is that they're not bad in a vacuum, but are just outclassed by other Pokemon. For example, Fearow is a great mon in a playthrough, but as long as Dodrio exists there's no reason to use it in competitive.
Yeah, I mostly agree with this. Might be interesting to restrict myself to the absolute dregs of society. Just map out the most terrible Pokémon in a Gen and use only those?
Route 2 and Santalune Forest both have 100% catch rates for their wild Pokémon, so weakening Pidgey and Pansage were completely unnecessary. Both of those would always go into a yoloball.
Have to say, I loved your elite four team, good diverse typing! I also love Gogoat to death, it has to be on top of the Pokemon list that deserves some sort of a buff! Also, Heatmor is my mascot Pokemon!!

I don’t talk about this a lot, but most of my experience in Pokémon has been in draft league. I was never the best, but I was also pretty decent, so that’s where I learned that skill. Lots of pivoting for position in competitive singles

I was fantasising about what my personal gym leader team would be a few days ago. I went with ghost type, and I was really torn between lil bastard Sableye and actually good Spiritomb. In the end I was like “Spiritomb is bloody difficult to take down. I’m gonna be like the fifth or sixth gym leader, not the champion. Tiny cave gremlin it is.”
The Grass leader was Ramos without any lookup. Also, if you want an interesting challenge, there's a ruleset called a Kingslocke that is really interesting, and could make for a different kind of challenge than your traditional Nuzlocke!

One of my top favourite pokemon is wurmple, which is probably the worst pokemon there is sigh. It literally learns 2-4 moves depending on the game. Won’t stop me using my shiny wurmple in bdsp though

Yea most of my favorite mons are either bad or downright useless so I feel that lol I just did a run kinda like this in Y about a month ago and it was one of my favorite runs too. Kind of levels the difficulty imo
Leavanny. A bst (base stat total) of 500 isn’t terrible, but grass AND bug, two of the worst types in this game, combine to make a truly combo. 1/3 of types in this game hit it super effectively. Despite all of those facts, it has a soft spot in my heart. The design is amazing, and it’s my favorite bug type. Also, ramos.
One of my favorite "bad" Pokemon is Pachirisu. I first used one in Platinum and he was awesome. Then when I played Brilliant Diamond I caught one. I didn't intend to use her since I'd already used it before but she won me over and wound up on that team too.

I had it on my first y team wait. the fairy badge makes me kind of mad. for so much of the game, gf and presumably the localization team has been great about naming badges different things so that no two badges of the same type have the same name. except for the fairy badge in kalos. later in galar they would go on to name all the badges after the types, which is fine as a theme. since they all fit into this one medallion. but it means that there's two fairy badges and it might possibly be the only two examples of badges with the same name. twinkle, pixie, anything would have been fine for the first fairy badge.
My favorite trash pokemon is Delibird, because I lost s friend to a house fire and between 7 and 3 days before he died, he traded me a Shiny Delibird to my original Gold version.
Ramos is truly forgettable but you gotta admit that his gym is pretty cool. Also as someone who's played X probably 8 times by now, I remember more about this game than any normal person should.
I’ve legit never seen anybody lose a nuzlocke of vanilla xy, even with super intense rules. If you have even the slightest idea what you’re doing it feels like none of the major trainers sans maybe one of the serena fights have anything they can do. The only three Pokémon thing is bad enough but then you give them the worst movesets in the entire world and what has to be like zero ev/ivs. Normally don’t care if they do a lot with EVa and IVs, but it makes even severely losing matchups winnable because of the insane power difference between your own and their Pokémon.
Amazing run, but I think the grass gyms name was like Roman or like Ramos or something like that. One of my least favorite regions but one of my Favorite runs!!!!!

One of my top favourite pokemon is wurmple, which is probably the worst pokemon there is sigh. It literally learns 2-4 moves depending on the game. Won’t stop me using my shiny wurmple in bdsp though

Leavanny. A bst (base stat total) of 500 isn’t terrible, but grass AND bug, two of the worst types in this game, combine to make a truly combo. 1/3 of types in this game hit it super effectively. Despite all of those facts, it has a soft spot in my heart. The design is amazing, and it’s my favorite bug type.

Ramos that for me is pretty easy to remember once again for me.
One of my favorite "bad" Pokemon is Pachirisu. I first used one in Platinum and he was awesome. Then when I played Brilliant Diamond I caught one. I didn't intend to use her since I'd already used it before but she won me over and wound up on that team too.
I love ramos and Kalos was my first reign in main series pokemon games so yeah I know almost everything about it

yeah among all these pokemon, gogoat is my favorite. I had it on my first y team
wait. the fairy badge makes me kind of mad. for so much of the game, gf and presumably the localization team has been great about naming badges different things so that no two badges of the same type have the same name. except for the fairy badge in kalos. later in galar they would go on to name all the badges after the types, which is fine as a theme. since they all fit into this one medallion. but it means that there's two fairy badges and it might possibly be the only two examples of badges with the same name. twinkle, pixie, anything would have been fine for the first fairy badge.
My favorite trash pokemon is Delibird, because I lost s friend to a house fire and between 7 and 3 days before he died, he traded me a Shiny Delibird to my original Gold version.

Ramos is truly forgettable but you gotta admit that his gym is pretty cool. Also as someone who's played X probably 8 times by now, I remember more about this game than any normal person should.

I’ve legit never seen anybody lose a nuzlocke of vanilla xy, even with super intense rules. If you have even the slightest idea what you’re doing it feels like none of the major trainers sans maybe one of the serena fights have anything they can do. The only three Pokémon thing is bad enough but then you give them the worst movesets in the entire world and what has to be like zero ev/ivs. Normally don’t care if they do a lot with EVa and IVs, but it makes even severely losing matchups winnable because of the insane power difference between your own and their Pokémon.

Amazing run, but I think the grass gyms name was like Roman or like Ramos or something like that. One of my least favorite regions but one of my Favorite runs!!!!!
