I bought a pair of red Sjaelland boots and they hurt my feet so bad. The back of the boot would rub my skin raw every time I wore them. So for almost 3 years I would bandage the back of my leg so they would be protected and wear the boots hoping to get them broken in. But because it was such a hassle to wear them I didn’t wear them as often as I might have. Finally I made a polish friend online and one day I was telling him about my beautiful red boots. He told me of a technique they used in Poland when he was a child for softening the leather so they don’t hurt your feet. He told me to get some alcohol and a hammer. Soak the inside of the heal where the seam is with alcohol (only the inside so it doesn’t stain the leather) then take the hammer and beat the leather. Beat the seam down so that it’s more flat. So I did it. I think I did it twice. And now I can wear my beautiful red boots with no pain. They no longer rub the back of my leg raw it was a great technique.
wow, I have never heard of this technique. Thanks for sharing!!! It’s always my back heels that don’t agree with a lot of beautiful shoes. I will give it a try!
that's great to know! also i read a website that also recommended this technique and they suggested put a towel or two over the shoe before you hammer. thanks for the review
Thanks for the review. Really love these shoes. I love shoes that have a round toe and look somewhat goofy yet stable. Ordered my first pair of the Jylland yesterday. Can’t wait to wear them.❤
Yah know, your channel is probably the premier channel for Duckfeet content AFTER Duckfeet's own channel, haha. I've never owned a pair of chukka boots, but have been curious about their Sjaelland model. Where I live is very hot for most of the year, so I'd like a more breezy boot.
I actually discovered duckfeet in a handbag Facebook group but couldn’t find many videos about it. Hope my videos are helpful. I recently purchased grena. It’s the same style as sjaelland but with wool lining. I really like the look of it and I think sjaelland will definitely be more suitable for milder/warmer weather.
Please let me know how these shoes fit now that you have had them for a couple of years. Thinking seriously about buying these but may get the pebbled leather one rather than the smooth leather. Would appreciate an update. thank you!💚
@@kathyb7636 I couldn’t break in fyn so I sold it. I am actually eyeing the pebbled leather version SVENDBORG. I absolutely love Arhus (pebbled leather) and they tend to be more comfortable than smooth leather.
@@berylinthesuburbs6545 Thank you for your response! What a shame!! I'm going to purchase the Svendborg...trying to decide which color as I like them all!
I checked the duckfeet fit guide. I generally prefer a looser fit because I add inserts in my shoes for arch support. duckfeetusa.com/blogs/duckfeatures/duckfeet-fit-guide
Recently purchased a pair of Jyllands. Every shoe I wear is US size 8; their conversion chart indicated that I need a size 40, which I ordered. When I got them, they felt fine in the house so I went out to dinner in them. Turns out they were slightly too short for me and the tops of my toes rubbed inside the shoe and bumped into the front. They also squished my toes together so much that I got a blister on my big toe after only a short walk. Strange because they advertise their "generous toe box size". Long story short, I can't return them as the soles are quite dirty from walking outside. If anybody wants Jyllands, size 8, in brown, let me know.😃 Anyway, I like the shoes so I ordered a pair in 41; fingers crossed!
hey, have you ever noticed that you toenail (bigtoe) hit the top op the toebox? Also I sized up to a size 43 (from 42) but it feels to loose at the heel, have you had any trouble like your feet slipping out
I sized up to 37 because my big toe hit the top in size 36. I added wool inserts from duckfeet and my feet stop moving around in the shoes. The tongue of the shoe is pretty long and the lace up design help to prevent my feet from slipping out
@@berylinthesuburbs6545 thanks for replying. I have custom insoles and that made it actually worse in my experience. Because I already have heel slip the insoles' thickness made my feet come out completely (-_-)
Oh no…i wish duckfeet offer half sizes, like 36.5. I tried a different style, grena, and hurt my back ankle so badly but lots of ppl love the style. We just need to find the style work for us:
@@berylinthesuburbs6545 I'm going to a shoe cobbler and see if they can modify the shoe to fit me, if not I'll have to return it perhaps. Half sizes would be nice, but I think we should go custom made :p... But not now, kinda broke XD
are you looking for the width of the widest point? duckfeet sizing can be tricky. I tried two pairs of size 37 Fyn and they felt different in sizings. One was wider and looser than the other. If you can, I would definitely recommend getting them from the website so you can exchange it if needed.
@@jamieb7989 I bought my first pair of Altra sneaker and love them! Via Olympus 2. Very comfortable and my toes have enough room!!! Cushiony too (if thats a word)

I'm born in Denmark and raised in duckfeets. Still wearing duckfeet (andefødder) almost 50 years later.

How did you measure your foot size? A measurement to the ball of the foot using a Brannock device is the most reliable method.

@Beryl In the Suburbs Yes, I'm looking for the width of the widest point!
@@James-g5s8s it’s about 3.5 inches
Are you in Canada?
No, I am in the US.
I can't even wear Nikes because they're too narrow. 😂 I'd probably love this brand.
New Balance and Skechers sneakers tend to be wider. Definitely give them a try. Have a wonderful day!
@@berylinthesuburbs6545 I tend to go for Pumas or Adidas because of the width. Thanks for the information. I might try those in the future.
You need Altra or Topo shoes then for athletic shoes!

How were you able to add D rings to the Patricia Nash bag? I didn’t think her brand had customizations.
This particular wristlet has a leather piece/loop at the end of each side. I ordered screw in D-rings from Amazon and attach them myself. :)
