After hearing a video from a farmer last week where you could hear the Thunderbolt sounding awfully worse than I last remembered it sounding, I figured I'd swing by to check up on the town and see how their sirens are doing. I think this test was the lowest, and highest pitch this bolt has ever been seen running...
Sirens in Mitchell County, IA are tested every Saturday. Riceville, McIntire, and Stacyville are tested at 11AM (normally for 3 minutes), and Osage, St Ansgar and Mitchell test at noon (normally for a minute).
When a siren is so screwed up that it sounds like it’s doing attack……you know there’s an issue
Oh that poor poor siren 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
that bolt is screaming for help
It's literally crying for help.
TBH, the T-128 should be enough for the town at this point. There is just no way in heck that this drunk sounding piece of crap they call a siren is up to any value, at all.
I mean hey it grabs your attention thats for sure😂
@@SirenDude1003 I'm pretty sure that if people in the town were in a tornado warning, they'll probably thinking if they heard that noise, "What in the hell?".
@@SirensOfTheMidSouth theyre probably used to it by now. Every saturday at 11am the cow moos for 3 minutes straight.
They must be running that old thunderbolt till it explodes
I have 3 words:
1. What
2. The
3. Fuck
The Thunderbolt sounds so good… 🤦♂️
Exquisite
I was expecting at this point for the 1003 to be completely dead at this point as I'm shocked that it still works.
It's drooling for repairs
nahhhh its the o’fallon thunderbolt now
This thing is literally turning into rice
Good grief!
Oh my goodness!!! That is becoming very bad!!!
Dude, you should hear how bad it sounded when Dylan recorded it last month in -16°F wind chills. The pitch fluctuated literally about twice as much as it did here, and it took a minute for the chopper to even start.
Where can I find that video?
@@bencerne2551 He hasn't uploaded it yet. He showed me the video in a Discord VC.
Did ricevile have more of these at some point?
No, Riceville is a quite small town. They have an STH-10 on the north side of town thats inactive, and then these two. I suspect this bolt used to be at another spot in town, but its also small enough that it wouldnt really matter (if it actually rotated)
@@SirenDude1003The thunderbolt was originally installed in Independence, IA (exact location unknown) and Riceville purchased the 1003 along with the STH-10 in 2008. The thunderbolt was believed to be struck by lightning sometime before 2020 (probably mid to late 2010s).
@@bencerne2551 i did not know that, i guess you learn something new every day.
The sad thing is the 1003 sounds good when it’s actually working on full blast (2:15 for like 5 seconds) except it’s drunk
jesus that thunderbolt sounds terrible, at this point they should just get rid of it
yeah or put it in the recycling electronics or something that siren is too damn old.
Would cost very little to fix it.
What in the hell? Is it okay? It needs to be replaced
Reminds me of Charloe Bolt
It’s lazy that places don’t do proper maintenance on there sirens, fix the most likely simple rotator issue, replace/sort the brushes/chopper motor!.. nice video of it though!
Of course it had to get worse. I want this thing to get ‘Knoxed at some point lol. It sounds like absolute garbage
Can you make more Synths Please?
Asides the ptich issue, it sounds strong. Fix it. Its still a good siren.
Bruh !! are you shitting me these are mechanical siren I know they might sound awful. but these siren ages a lot. although thunderbolt sirens like these are discontinued from the manufacture company. it didn't rotate so thunderbolt is dead.
What
@@Glist_ you heard me this siren is too old.
@@josephfrye7342 You'd fit right in at Blue Valley Public Safety
@@Glist_ to fix this thing? but this siren is too old and was made in the 50s good lord.
@@josephfrye7342This thing is from the 60s/70s lol. Blue Valley would replace it, they wouldn’t fix it.
And why are we suddenly testing sirens....think people!!!
These are tested every Saturday and have been for decades
bro has never heard a siren test in his life. do you not go outside? these get tested at least once a month, for as long as i can remember.
are you tweaking
