You can't count the bigger bezels as a con for the Lenovo because it's supposed to work as a tablet too, so it needs to have space for your thumb. Also I would prefer a bigger keyboard layout rather than a tiny laptop with a keyboard that is so small it's impractical to use.
Jason Dunn One more tip, the K key will pause/play youtube videos no matter where you on the the page. Spacebar only works after interacting with the player.
+jdoggg1 A tip for your tip, pressing K only works once in Firefox, after that, Firefox assumes you're doing a word search on the page and you can't play the video again by press K. Instead, word search pops up at the bottom.
Overall very good, informative and well rounded review. Just one thing that bugged me though: You forgot to mention that the Dell XPS 13 (with touch screen) is quite a bit more expensive than the Yoga 3 Pro. Right now (November 2015) the Dell XPS 13 (with i5/256GB/8GB RAM with touch screen), the model you have been comparing with the Yoga 3 Pro, is about 300$ more expensive. That's quite a big difference when you think about it, and should not be overlooked in an honest and unbiased review. Other than that, great job, really liked the review!
I honestly thought I would never use the Yoga 2 360 hinge, but I love using it to read anything in Reader. Tablet mode is great for times where you don't have much lap space, such as on public transit. I'm getting used to the shallowness of the travel compared to my older 15" HP DV6 full sized keyboard but I still can't get used to the super small backspace key.
great review. covered all the major points well. showed the bottom (all sides actually). offered a "winner" if you like a smaller, slightly more powerful traditional laptop design. offered a "winner" if you like a convertable, and detailed the small differences between the two. good job Lisa, thank you.
Wow, unless you absolutely need tablet mode, the Dell destroys the Yoga. Only other real advantage the Yoga has is the warmer display, but that can be changed with calibration.
The biggest question: Will I be more efficient in Windows 10 with a touchscreen? If it isn't a big deal, then I think that the Dell wins this one in my book. I'm looking at this from the perspective of someone who is planning to spend ~$800 on a laptop this weekend. at the low end, the only substantive difference is that the lenovo still includes a touchscreen.
The Yoga 3 Pro is now shipping with an upgraded processor Core M-5Y71. Any idea how much different the performance would be compared with the original release model that came with the Core M-5Y70 processor?
Just look at that... 5:37 I will never see laptops the same again. The screen bezel on the Lenovo makes it look like a machine from the 90's! Loving the new Dell
I have the i7/512/QHD+ XPS 13, too. Loving it so far. But the adaptive brightness is a bit of a disappointment. I understand its use while unplugged, but when using the High Performance power plan while plugged in, it would be nice it the screen didn't auto-dim. Follow up question, I thought the 512 SSD was supposed to be faster than the 128 and 256. Any info on this? As always, great job Lisa.
My Dell XPS 13 QHD surely blows the Yoga 3 out of the water! There's no comparison over it, been using this compact xps 13 and everyone is like WOW! Yoga 3 is just another tablet hybrid gimmicks, seriously if you want hybrid, get Surface pro 3 or Asus Tachi, a laptop, Dell xps 13!
***** Like I said, prove me wrong? If you can't, don't just make a rant here like a little kid, childish and racist. I pity you as an Asian guy, sadly but truthfully. And I hope you don't look like that profile pic of yours in real life, that would be damn saddening LOL
***** So in the end you can't prove me wrong with your statement and just ranting here like a racist little kid. Pathetic, proud to be an Asian, better than a little racist kid like someone haha.
I would have gotten the dell but the camera on the bottom left no thank you ! I would suggest to them ,to make the top portion of the bezel a little thicker next time just enough to fit the camera up there ! I decided to get the zenbook ux31la it has some light bleed around the edges but for 650 dollars brand new on ebay I cant complain !
your reviews are great, keep them up :) please can you do a comparison between the xps 13 and the hp spectre x360? those are the two that i am trying to decide between right now thanks
Still gotta give it to the Lenovo though. I mean,, if they decide to loose some bezel they're better. Dell has nowhere else to go with the design, nothing to improve. I'd rather see more ports on the Yoga and some extra thickness towards the front and less bezels. In my opinion Yoga is becoming something like the ultimate ultrabook, it just isn't quite there.
those tiny bezels look cool, but in terms of percentage I don't think it saves you that much space. If Lenovo finally had resolved the low contrast problems on its QHD+ screens this would be an easy pick for me. 500:1 is really pushing it and I've seen it measured as low as 300:1 for the 900 model. Dell stands at a respectable 1300:1 otoh.
Lisa, how does the matte screen on this compare to the 1080P matte of the book 9. From the video, I'd say the Samsung had a nicer 1080P matte. That one looks duller and more fuzzy then the Samsung. I own the B9 1080 and see these two machines very similar. I still prefer the Samsung since it keeps cam on top. The weight is the same as well. B9's sandblasted dura aluminum with polished sides look higher end IMO. Not sure why Samsung did not sell many B9's. Now everyone is raving about this Dell when Samsung has been making this kind of device for years.
I had ah slightly confused about both keyboards Y Pro3 vs DELL It's something different between both brand laptops . This the g8t laptops I have ever used everyday my lifestyle LENOVO Yoga Pro 3 display are fantastic like Ratina display on Mac -book-pro my 2k13 device. I fall in love with this device LENOVO Y pro3 waiting for Window 10 In ma country South Asia,India.
Yeah, bezel-less is the future, for sure. We're finally getting power requirements down to where it's now feasible to eliminate display bezels, and it makes a world of difference from a design standpoint. No bezel looks so nice, and the device is far more compact. They need to get rid of bezels on tablets too...
I have dell inspiron 15r. I am also facing black screen of dead and a continues beeaping sound. No display when press power button but have a beeping sounds. But I haven't gave up on it. tried with 10s press removing battery. Still problem exists!. then did power on and off for 10 times and then it comes with dell logo and boots !! but Now it's completely won't turning on and giving beep sounds. What could be the problem?? any suggestions?
Only issue with z Dell is it has some display issues with lines coming-up and when you close the laptop and open it ..it goes away but the bezel is amazing
Dell needs to make their next one a convertible and include a touch pen (for notes and drawing), this would then make it the best laptop in the world! maybe not for gaming though.
I will be a uni student at the end of February and I need a laptop that will last me a minimum of 7 hours. I am beginning to feel that the XPS 13 non touch is the ONLY option (I do NOT want a Mac, full stop). Is there anything else that you can recommend that is less than $1500AUD? (Yes the Dell Non Touch 4GB starts at $1500 in Australia and the touch being $2100)
I Em Gote But that's the problem, you CANT compare the displays if you're not viewing them in their native resolutions, they won't look anywhere near as nice
I Em Gote If true then that's at least better. I still think though that showing the high res displays with the default settings first is just good reviewer work. That way we know how much space to expect, then go about scaling to show off everything else.
elementneon But that's the point, showing both displays with the same UI scaling makes it easy to compare them accurately since they are showing the exact same thing

Lisa. Still one of the best mobile reviews on RUclips. AWESOME!
You can't count the bigger bezels as a con for the Lenovo because it's supposed to work as a tablet too, so it needs to have space for your thumb. Also I would prefer a bigger keyboard layout rather than a tiny laptop with a keyboard that is so small it's impractical to use.
Wow. Seeing them side by side, the bezel ages the Lenovo by 5 years. I hope Dell makes a 15 inch like this.
Great video! One tip: space bar to start and stop playing RUclips videos is easier and faster than moving the cursor onto the play button. :-)
Jason Dunn One more tip, the K key will pause/play youtube videos no matter where you on the the page. Spacebar only works after interacting with the player.

another great review! should be getting my i7 5600u XPS 13 tomorrow - super excited :)
Lisa, thank you for your reviews, you're doing a great job! I absolutely enjoy watching your videos, even if not for purchasing purposes
The sound clarity on the dell xps is exceptional when you compare it to yoga pro 3 at 14:22
Great video as always! I think the battery life difference is due to the yoga 3 having a 45Wh battery vs the 55Wh one in the XPS 13.
Great work and brilliant Review Lisa!

Nice review. Keep them coming.
The screens are beautiful. I have been using a MacBook Retina and a Yoga 2 Pro, both amazing screens as well.
Lisa,
Could you do a "smack down" between the T450s and the XPS 13? Do you have a preference between the two for business use?
Lisa, can you please do one with Dell XPS 13 (2015) and Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 ?
love to see the screen compared to the Toshiba Chromebook 2 with the full hd monitor.
My Dell XPS 13 QHD surely blows the Yoga 3 out of the water! There's no comparison over it, been using this compact xps 13 and everyone is like WOW! Yoga 3 is just another tablet hybrid gimmicks, seriously if you want hybrid, get Surface pro 3 or Asus Tachi, a laptop, Dell xps 13!

ugh
if xps 13 just flips 360 degrees it would be perfect
and if yoga 3 pro has a long battery life it would be perfect
):
+R9Juve Absolutely agree. If the Dell rotated like the Yoga, I would have already bought the Dell, instead of continuing my months' long search
simply the best reviews

I would like to see a review for the new Lenovo X1 carbon, plus i wonder which notebook are you using thanks
I would love to see the Dell side by side with the Lenovo yoga ideapad 11.6 inch and see the size difference.

I've always thought the yoga was made of plastic!!! I didn't know it also had metal casing, that's awesome.
Thank you 😊❤️
great job as always ... no brainer to go with the Dell !
XPS 13 2015 or X1 Carbon 2015 anyone???
Still waiting for our X1 Carbon review unit. It will be an interesting comparison.
Thanks for the reply Lisa, really looking foward to that video before deciding which one! :)
I agree!
MobileTechReview I was just about to ask whether or not you'll do a review on the new 2015 X1. Seems like you will do it soon! Good to hear! :)
thats the real competition I think, both have very similar pieces on them
Would you recommend the 4K screen over the 1080p version for photo editing?
i work with 34MP images alot ad would love to do it on the move.
Hi, Lisa love your review, can you please do a review of Acer Aspire R13 vs lenovo yoga 3 pro. awaiting video at the earliest

Lisa you are the best!!! Have you seen the dell Inspiron 13 for $200 less than xps13?
I didn't get the XPS 13 2015 because of the power button LED that is always on and faces you. Way too annoying and distracting.
I had ah slightly confused about both keyboards Y Pro3 vs DELL
It's something different between both brand laptops .

Looking for a good photoshop laptop that is window around this price. Leaning to that dell. What do you think.
Please do a comparison between the xps 13 2015 and the hp spectre x360. Thanks.

Is this comparison still valid for newer 2016 models? Thank you
Not really
I Em Gote better late than never lol. i ended up getting a 2015 xps w/3 year warranty used in great condition for 580, I think I got a good deal
BoogieDownProduction Ok, good deal. Just got my yoga a month ago, it's really great.
Which ones perform better on Linux (Gentoo/Arch)?
Shoould I get the 899 version of the dell laptop or wait another month to get the touchscreen for 1299?
Please make Comparison between dell XPS 15 and lenovo 910 yoga ?pls
Only issue with z Dell is it has some display issues with lines coming-up and when you close the laptop and open it ..it goes away but the bezel is amazing
Are you going to share the gaming review on new xps 13 core i5 4GB version ultrabook?
i would like to see a review of the inspiron 7547 , especially the keyboard i want to know if the keyboard and battery is any good .
Dell needs to make their next one a convertible and include a touch pen (for notes and drawing), this would then make it the best laptop in the world! maybe not for gaming though.
+CartezGamez Yes, a convertible XPS13 is what I would buy right now.
please don't forget yoga 3 have yellow screen problem , patch did not solve any thing.
Good VDO. I like this VDO
Can you please review the Ausu x551mav please I thinking of buying it but need to see your opinion and review.
I will be a uni student at the end of February and I need a laptop that will last me a minimum of 7 hours. I am beginning to feel that the XPS 13 non touch is the ONLY option (I do NOT want a Mac, full stop).

most ultrabooks last 7 hours. i have asus zenbook.
Are you going to review the Aorus X7?
I want the xps....here in canada it will cost you an arm and a leg though. Oh well, im right handed so left arm it is.
i day dell xps 13 is the best 2016 Laptop wonder if you agree?
Your englando no understand
I Em Gote oh what are you?
Super-A Your mom's lover.
I Em Gote im your generations destroyer
Super-A No
The dell xps13 looks gorgeous. But the price... Oh the price.
Is there a major difference between the xps 13 touch screen and the one that is nontouchscreen
+manuel neymar junior Yes, one is touch screen and one isn't.
Hi I really like your videos but could you please cut them down to 10 mins...helps to make the overall experience more interesting...
I like it
Woah the display
Which trackpad did you like better? =)
Nice video
You look cool with glasses.
Small bezel is cool for laptops, not so much for smartphones or tablets.
I swear your intro sounds like the intro of parks and rec.
For the love of god stop scaling the resolutions! Start with default for your reviews!
She's doing it to be able to compare the displays accurately
I Em Gote
But that's the problem, you CANT compare the displays if you're not viewing them in their native resolutions, they won't look anywhere near as nice
elementneon They are in their native resolution, the UI is scaled.
I Em Gote
If true then that's at least better. I still think though that showing the high res displays with the default settings first is just good reviewer work. That way we know how much space to expect, then go about scaling to show off everything else.
elementneon But that's the point, showing both displays with the same UI scaling makes it easy to compare them accurately since they are showing the exact same thing
How much is it?
Can you do the comparison with the macbook air 11 ? Please! !!!
She already compared to the 13" MBA, didn't she? How much different is a comparison to the 11" going to be.
XPS13 wins hands down
why would i buy this for 900 dollars when i could get a Alienware M14 for 700 dollars.....
Thumbs up
I prefer Lenovo yoga 3 pro, Dell is too expensive with a touch screen.
XPS has worst trackpad ever
