Laptop? , Too much money? , You don't want to game on it? -> Buy a MacBook :) (and IF YOU NEED, put windows on it..) I know there're gonna be haters, aren't there?
As much as I'm a PC enthusiast, gotta agree to this. The price is high for Macbooks, but the build quality and user experience is superb. 7 years old Macbooks are still kicking it good. Good luck doing that with a Windows laptop.
wafzulmi52 there are actually quite a lot of "older" macbooks with freeze issues under gpu workload... hardware wise, macbooks don't contain higher quality hardware than regular laptops, so the price isn't really justified and I certainly wouldn't recommend them.
USD/RON increased a lot since january and the 900 series are pretty darn expensive (250-300$) here in Romania. That is my income for one whole month :(
Indeed it is, that's why people emigrate, same prices, quarter the salaries, we hope to see steam adjusting their prices for our region too in the future. Also, that's why people practice pirating, not to do harm but not to spend half of their income on two games.
So with the top model costing around £1600, why would I not buy a Macbook Pro 15 instead? I can't see their selling point. Yes the devices look absolutely gorgeous but I don't get their appeal. They're far outmatched by Macbooks. Air and Pro.
TheFpsGamer1125 yeah product and ability wise, I would definitely agree with you but price point, you could get a Macbook Pro and have triple the performance.
luis39205 yeh but you see, its the form factor that comes into play. if it were in the style of the macbook pro, im pretty sure the would've be able to pack in more hardware. but, yeh, i do acknowledge your point.
I got the 1920x1080,128gb, i5 one. Fast and snappy. If you want to game on this, then it isn't the one for you to be honest. i5 does it's work. It heats up regularly but it isn't as hot as other laptops. Awesome battery life. 13 hours. Webcam is placed on the bottom left corner. I don't recommend the touch one if you are looking for good battery life as it has less battery life than the non-touch.
I wonder if Linus will revisit this product because since this review, they have added versions with more ram and have even included a gpu in it's bigger brother, the xps 17
Madponiez Ya. I was just saying if i were to buy a new laptop i would go for the y50 as it suites my needs better. I was not saying they where similar laptops in anyway. You are right his is a completely different type of laptop

3:37 Correction: Linus calls the SSD in the 2015 XPS 13 "Pci-Express" when it is actually STRICTLY a SATA M.2 slot unfortunately. Found this out the hard way when attempting to upgrade mine. The XPS 13 9343 Is stuck with m.2 sata interface while the 9350 and up use a NVMe Pci slot.

Hey Linus, I have a problem and I think you could help me with and make a great video too :) Basicaly I am looking for best value business laptop. It should be 2-in-1 (or simply foldable). if you still want to know. Yes it is great for coding and programming. it only stumbles in intensive gaming and 4k video editing. It does do 1080p editing though. and if you get the i7 variant you can even play light games like cs go and lol in 1080p with over 60 fps. so programming and coding is no problem.
iReppo, I seriously recommend the Lenovo Y260. It's a 2-in-1 that I think you'll love especially if you're keeping your eyes on Lenovo. I got mine off of Ebay which was the highest-end model, with 8gb RAM and an i5. Stellar battery life, love the form factor, and makes for a nice sketching pad with 2400 nits of pressure thanks to its digitizer support. Really, really good stuff.
This is the perfect laptop for me. As a college student in the STEM field, as well as an avid gamer, I can say that this laptop can suit my needs. I can run multiple tabs while running a video and making a chart in excel while running words. Or for free time, I can run a few windows and play TF2, CSGO, or BF4 on the lowest settings and resolutions at 30+ frames. Also, it weighs 2.6 lb. rekt.
YES !!! The power plug falls out of my laptop constantly, well out of all my dell laptops. Currently i use the XPS L701X and its a hell to replug it all the time when moving the laptop while sitting in the couch chilling
Hey Linus! I loved the review, is there any chance you will be reviewing the XPS 15 2015 refresh? I know it has a lot in common with this laptop, but I would really like to hear what you have to say about the day to day use of its more powerful sibling, as I am looking for a daily driver with a bit more punch than the 13 can offer. I think the addition of dedicated graphics to such a slim design is a real game changer and I would love to hear what you have to say about it. Thanks!
this laptop is beautiful and the carbon fiber interior is amazing. It's really light weight and it is soooooo small. the screen is beautiful. I just used one. the keyboard is just perfect, so tactile and it's generally cool
I was really impressed with the small bezel on the Dell XPS Infinity series. I bought an XPS 13 Infinity as soon as they were available. The problem with this computer is that the Wifi is instable. Saw that later also on an online computer magazine test of the machine, which confirmed not only I have this problem. Not good when there is no RJ-45 network connector on the machine. So, beautiful bezel, but often no Internet... Not good. The instable wifi card - often no network, no internet - means that the overall impression of Dell XPS Infinity is mediocre.
I work tech support, and I have a XPS 13 on my bench right now, it is a lovely laptop, but it has been here twice now for dead SSD in the same year, the Dell tech I spoke with has even told me it's a known issue with this laptop.
I'm looking at the Dell XPS 13 with the 13.3-inch FHD screen (non-touchscreen), Intel Core i5, 8GB ram and 256GB SSD. All for $1,099. Will it be good for graphic design? Like Photoshop and Illustrator cause that's what I'll be doing on it for the next few years.
It's still a Dell. At work that's all we have and we are close to switching brands because of the lack of quality in their Latitude and Precision models. There's a problem when we replace the motherboard twice in one laptop within a few months plus the fact that we put on average 1 to 4 computers on warranty each week out of a 150 computer park. We are also ranting about the fact that you can't customize them as you used to be able to.

I bought this laptop (non-touch,i5, 128gb, 4gb ram) because of an extra dell discount and it's pretty good so far. Best thing is the small bezel and compact design for me.

These are my select recommendations now of laptops that are thousands of dollars less and perform better + added disc drives etc, then their macbook equivalent. www.nairaland.com/1532420/hp-2000-intel-core-rw This is the laptop I use instead of always using my big pc, it is the equivilent to an apple macbook pro 13' at 1536$ for the mac and $500 dollars for this computer. Which is a 1000$ pointless difference apart from brand. Also worth mentioning this was dells best selling pc and can no longer be stocked :c. I personally dont recommend buying a laptop though, I recommend building a pc because its extremely affordable and really easy. I know some 5 year olds that can make one. www.dicksmith.com.au/ If you are an intelligent price checker then you can get a serious deal on a cheap laptop that was undervalued which is generally the best way to go in the laptop market, which is go for value of money. because literally every laptop has the intent to skimp on one thing and add on another to make it seem good. eg. i7 processor but is only clocked at 2 ghz. If you want more examples just ask, I'm here to help and I dont want anybody paying more than they should for a good computer.

Just an FYI...The Infinity term is not exactly 'meaningless'. It's a reference to the infinity pool where the water appears to go on forever (to infinity) because you cannot see the edge of the pool... a direct correlation to the edge of the monitor on the Dell XPS 13.
The Advertised (at 0:48 ) MSI notebook with sli and mechanical keyboard made look this dell 13" the most beautiful laptop of the world (for unconscious comparison).
Linus man, I'd expect you know something about the scaling. It's not Windows problem, it's programmers problem. If you use obsolete technology like Windows Forms, Java, or anything else other than WPF or web apps that doesn't come with scaling and DPI support by design, the problem isn't going to solve itself. The same goes if you use bitmaps for UI items (like buttons, or even icons), which Windows or anything else on the planet just doesn't know how to scale up. I am desktop app developer and this is purely development issue. If the programmer doesn't make the app higher-dpi ready, it's not gonna fly. And that isn't gonna happen until the customers are actually interested in this. OS X is somewhat successfully trying to deal with this by simply making it a requirement for your app to be published in the App Store. This is by the way the reason why I absolutely don't get why people are so crazed about 4k displays on a credit-card sized areas. They buy this stuff and then they moan for two years about how ugly everything is on it and then they buy a machine with reasonable resolution.
I've seen so many awesome looking laptops that were just slightly limited in 1 or 2 very crucial specs components. Its like a sexy car that's just 70 horsepower short of your minimum hp requirement.
Seeing what he thought about the xps 13.. I'd really like to see what he thinks of a device like this, compared to something like a Surface pro 4. I think he's done a review on the surface as well so.. that'd be an interesting comparison. Does Linus even do comparisons? Hmm.. guess I've not watched enough of their videos!
Don't want to hate on this notebook, but almost every feature that this notebook has are available on a lenovo x1 carbon, which has a much better keyboard, and a more sturdy monitor. The battery life is almost the same and the the x1 has more usb 3 ports, and a much better IO in general. I wish linus could do a review on x1, would be intresting to see his opinion.

Is the Dell xps !3 (2015) good or at least great for programming/coding and software engineering/development
if you still want to know. Yes it is great for coding and programming. it only stumbles in intensive gaming and 4k video editing. It does do 1080p editing though. and if you get the i7 variant you can even play light games like cs go and lol in 1080p with over 60 fps. so programming and coding is no problem.
+bimer2000 Thanks :)
Can someone recommend a slim laptop for school/college, with really good keys to type with? My ideal price range is around $1000
look at: Surface pro 4, dell xps 13/15, HP spectre 2016, Lenovo y900
What about the lenovo y700? Is it to heavy to be carried around regularly?
iReppo, I seriously recommend the Lenovo Y260.
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check it out.
+iReppo Check hp omen or razer blade stealth
This is the perfect laptop for me. As a college student in the STEM field, as well as an avid gamer, I can say that this laptop can suit my needs. I can run multiple tabs while running a video and making a chart in excel while running words. Or for free time, I can run a few windows and play TF2, CSGO, or BF4 on the lowest settings and resolutions at 30+ frames. Also, it weighs 2.6 lb. rekt.
Hi Linus , Would you review the new DELL XPS 15 9550 (2015). Thanks.
YES !!! The power plug falls out of my laptop constantly, well out of all my dell laptops. Currently i use the XPS L701X and its a hell to replug it all the time when moving the laptop while sitting in the couch chilling
I am really fucked when I hear his voice.
This is a truly opponent to the Macbook. I hope we get a revision before next year, with the drawbacks addressed.
Should I get a gigabyte gtx 960 or r9 280????
R9 280 without a doubt, try to buy one from Gigabyte (windforce) OC edition, is one of the cheapest and it't the best out there.
What resolution will you be running at?
You should get the 280 IceQ from HIS. Its cool, quiet and faster than the 960.
i would recommend you to wait a little bit more. amd 3xx series is coming soon and nvidia might lower it prices for response
R9 295X2, step up nigga.
Thanks!
XPS 13 or Surface pro 4 ?? which one guys ??
xps 15
ekim andersom Thanks man but i'm kinda 'Windows Guy' xD

Came here to see the last video with the classic intro.
i was lookin too. weird
same.
Oh god that MSI laptop is so awful!
Great review! You summed up the XPS 13 smoothly and tackled the pros and cons of it greatly
5:32 HOLY FUCK YOUR FINGER o.O
I highly doubt it should bend that way
It's double-jointed fingers. I got them too lol.
h33t its called being double jointed , you would be freaked out if you saw how mine are
Li Xuesong Please use proper english.
this laptop is beautiful and the carbon fiber interior is amazing. It's really light weight and it is soooooo small. the screen is beautiful. I just used one. the keyboard is just perfect, so tactile and it's generally cool
10 hour loop not found.. dissapointing
Dude what the he** is Mcfee doing in your laptop? 5:58
Pre loaded bro...
For a second i think: "OMG if linus use mcfee maybe isnt that bad" xD
LinusTechTips That's why it's better to get the signature edition from MS store
I work tech support, and I have a XPS 13 on my bench right now, it is a lovely laptop, but it has been here twice now for dead SSD in the same year, the Dell tech I spoke with has even told me it's a known issue with this laptop.
I'm looking at the Dell XPS 13 with the 13.3-inch FHD screen (non-touchscreen), Intel Core i5, 8GB ram and 256GB SSD. All for $1,099. Will it be good for graphic design? Like Photoshop and Illustrator cause that's what I'll be doing on it for the next few years.
Yeah it will
+Eric Reyes I don't think it has enough for ram

fuck your macbook #pcmasterace

It's still a Dell. At work that's all we have and we are close to switching brands because of the lack of quality in their Latitude and Precision models. There's a problem when we replace the motherboard twice in one laptop within a few months plus the fact that we put on average 1 to 4 computers on warranty each week out of a 150 computer park. We are also ranting about the fact that you can't customize them as you used to be able to.
For work I would just buy a Mac.

start here if your interested in reading thousands of complaints. Screw laptops all together. Or better yet unscrew them and scrap them'
Where the hell is this 10 hour loop video? I wanna watch!!!!!!!
your voice is like a mosquito in my ear

Typical of homosexuals.
@@afistfulofpimples1745 What? Linus is married with kids...
I bought this laptop (non-touch,i5, 128gb, 4gb ram) because of an extra dell discount and it's pretty good so far. Best thing is the small bezel and compact design for me.
So its like a mac? overpriced?
Is a Mac really overpriced though? What are the alternatives?

(^ this is what I recommend for building your own pc in australia, bought mine for 300 amercian and it clocks out faster then any mac ever for 1000$'s of dollars less.)
These are my select recommendations now of laptops that are thousands of dollars less and perform better + added disc drives etc, then their macbook equivalent.
www.nairaland.com/1532420/hp-2000-intel-core-rw
This is the laptop I use instead of always using my big pc, it is the equivilent to an apple macbook pro 13' at 1536$ for the mac and $500 dollars for this computer.

If you are an intelligent price checker then you can get a serious deal on a cheap laptop that was undervalued which is generally the best way to go in the laptop market, which is go for value of money. because literally every laptop has the intent to skimp on one thing and add on another to make it seem good. eg. i7 processor but is only clocked at 2 ghz.
If you want more examples just ask, I'm here to help and I dont want anybody paying more than they should for a good computer.
My apologies the link I posted on the hp2000 was a bad one, but you might be in luck yourself if you go searching for one, its the HP 2000-2D05SE. The ultimate in regular day usage and clocks out at the equivalent of and 1586$ dollar mac.

The flowers deal was a very nice touch.
I really like how you go over fine issues in detail unlike the other reviews. A good deal breaker for a lot of these products. Thanks

Do a gaming edition of this with 4k and 970m sli and a color changing keyboard and a lot of gamers going to be in love.
Linus is getting fast and faster with that outro with every video.
I put this laptop on my wishlist a few days ago, nice to see a review from you, Linus. :)
Just an FYI...The Infinity term is not exactly 'meaningless'. It's a reference to the infinity pool where the water appears to go on forever (to infinity) because you cannot see the edge of the pool... a direct correlation to the edge of the monitor on the Dell XPS 13.
i always come back to this video once in a while because it's the last one with this awesome intro :(
The Advertised (at 0:48 ) MSI notebook with sli and mechanical keyboard made look this dell 13" the most beautiful laptop of the world (for unconscious comparison).
Can I get a 10hr loop or an autotune at the sound Linus makes at 6:28....Linus let out something that I can't quite confirm as a laugh....
"Intimate Relation(Whistle)" ----------- THAT WHISTLE!
The one review I needed. Thank you for not over glorifying it like every other reviews and putting me back on earth.
Has anyone noticed that one of the things that are said in the intro, like 'Community', Reviews etc., it also says Cats!
Who else's sub box is broken? It hasn't shown new uploads from who I'm subscribed to since yesterday's techquicke.
I've seen so many awesome looking laptops that were just slightly limited in 1 or 2 very crucial specs components. Its like a sexy car that's just 70 horsepower short of your minimum hp requirement.
I'm seriously considering getting this laptop for grad school, thanks for the review!
Linus can we please get a review in the new xps 15 9550 and the xps 13 9350 in the same video comparing them
Where's the link to the 10-hour loop? :-)
This laptop with a 14" screen 16gb of ram and a 360degree hinge with great stylus support will make this laptop a beast
love dell xps series.. i have L702x a bit outdated today but still kicks ass with i7 and 8gb of ram, added samsung 850 pro ssd for os.
That thin bezels make Macbook Air, Pro looks like old TV from the 80's
I was lied to. Linus, where is my 10 hour loop??? The people demand the loops, all the loops!
1:46 IS THAT INTERNET EXPLORER LINUS WTF
That's exactly what I thought!
Gotta have a dose of LinusTechTips videos man.
This is pretty reliable. I bought one for my mother a week back. She loves it!
And here I am, still using my Dell XPS M1210. :P
