Wow I went to school with Rob Calabrese. He was a qb since elementary school and I got to throw some balls to him and catch from him and now he's mentoring my favorite jets. What a life. Interesting concept for a series. Made even more interesting because MW became QB1 this week. Nice, relaxed interview with a number of unique questions. It's hard not to root for Mike White - he comes across as very sincere and the ultimate team player. Hopefully he can produce on the field.
Excellent interview. I'm a Jets fan. I am really hoping he does well this Sunday. He's a picture of an underdog. If he does nothing else in football he's made his mark. He'll always be Mike F***ing White!
On Sunday the crowd should sing the Roy Kent song (Ted Lasso) but with Mike White " He's here ,He's there, he's every effing where, Mike Whiiiiiite, Mike Whiiiiiite".
Hey kaylin, great interview 👍, spot on, oh yeah what's in that cup your drinking, lmfao 🤣 😆, just playing, have a good one, really good stuff, keep up the good work!!!
Was a legend for one game, then turned back into a pumpkin against the Bills, as the clock struck midnight! \_(ツ)_/¯ But with that being said, here's to Mike "Effin" White turning back the "Effin" clock!... Cheers! 🍺🍻
Last year White had 5 TDs and 8 INTs which the Zach Wilson lovers like to point out. But that was a much different Jets team, especially on defense. In that Bills game 3 of the MW interceptions happened when the Jets were down in the 3rd quarter by at least 3 touchdowns, and an excellent Bills defense was sitting back just waiting for him to try. Then when he came into the Patriots game for an injured Zach Wilson with 4:30 left in the 3rd quarter and the Patriots leading 34-13 he throws his 1st interception and then he does it again on the next drive down 3 TDs. So that's 5 of the 8 happening while trying to make something, anything happen and the Jets down by 3 touchdowns. The 2 against the Bengals go watch the highlights here of that game and you'll see both picks occurring after the balls went through the receivers hands! Complete bad luck, the exact opposite of Wilson's two dropped INTs last week. So go ahead and call him a pumpkin if you want, or do the research yourself and watch the films and look up the Full Play By Play here: www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202110240nwe.htm
@@JimDiBattista Don't take my comment so seriously, man. It was just a light hearted joke acknowledging that everything in that Bengals game went right and absolutely perfect for him. But that type of fortune was unlikely to last. Hence, the "turning back into a pumpkin" comment. For the record, I like Mike "Effin" White! And hope he does well. At least well enough to sit that immature, entitled child, Zach Wilson, for the rest of the season. Which is why I finished off my comment with a toast to Mike *turning back the clock!* If you would've paid attention to the whole comment, and not just zero-in on the part you didn't like, and ignored the rest, you would have realized I was wishing Mike well. But I get you're passionate about the guy. So its all good! 👍
@@JimDiBattista As a Jet fan I hope Mike plays well and the team wins.. but I've seen enough backup QB's put up superstar stats against teams that had little or no game film on a QB, then once D coordinators study his tendencies and weaknesses they are able to shut him down. White doesn't appear to have the arm strength to fit passes into tight windows outside the numbers, hence defenses can jump those intermediate routes over the middle. I like underdogs and Mike White is the type of guy that's easy to root for.. but I'm not under the delusion that he's an Elite Franchise QB that somehow slipped by all the NFL scouts and wound up on this jets roster. Mike may turn out to be the perfect backup QB for this team right now, while they figure out if Zach can be fixed lol.
@@blacksnakemagic But that's the thing Snake, I'm NOT passionate about any one single guy , I'm a fan of the laundry and not the player. When Wilson is behind center I'm rooting like hell for him to complete a pass, throw a TD anything. It's just that there are a lot of younger Jets fans who, I think it was when Tim Tebow became a Jet that people started "loving" the player. It has grown to be that now they "love" Zach Wilson. and so nearly every Zach fan has been bringing up this "Well he threw 8 interceptions last year" so what I did was investigate the plays, how they happened, what was the game situation WHEN they happened and much to my surprise I found that Mike Whit's stat line is skewed because of the horrible mess the Jets were-on BOTH sides of the ball. Go Jets!
@@llfeforce9484 Then again, I'm old enough to know that if any team is susceptible to getting lit up by the back-up quarterback it is the New York Jets. I've seen it happen time and again. In fact I remember on day Oh I'd say it had to be around 1979-80 when the Jets were playing this new team, the SEATTLE SEAHAWKS and their starting QB lefty Jim Zorn was going to be out and the Jets on a 5 game winning streak were licking their chops in the Sack Exchange room because they would be facing Zorn's back-up from little known Milton College a guy who had never started an NFL game before-his name? Dave Krieg, yea Future Hall of Fame THAT Dave Krieg and he kicked our asses that day throwing for 264 yards 2 TDs and 3 INTs. So just because a guy is a back-up it doesn't mean he can't be "THE" guy.
Bills had the #1 defense last year. Can't really put much into that game. But the game against Cincy is something Zach has yet to do in any game. So there's that.
Every dog has its day. To me Mike white and Zach are the same at this point. Mike has a good completion percentage but a horrible turnover rate. And that was a no pressure trap game. This year every game feels like a playoff game after the 1st NE game and white has never had a "cincy game" on a winning team that the pressure is on to win now. Is he so much better than Zach? No it'd be silly to think that. Is he worse than Zach? Not really no. White has had some good moments and some awful moments, Zach has had some good moments and some awful moments. Unfortunately both of them have a ton more awful moments than good moments. People like to point at Josh Allen but he was a weird case when it comes to football history. The sad truth is we are pretty much sunk at QB again unless Mike white goes out there and tears it up which is unlikely (but I'm hoping for him i want the jets to just win) or Zach gets another chance and fixes everything which is also unlikely (again I'm also hoping for that because I want the jets to win)
Jets made an awful pic at #2 with Zach. If you take a QB in the top 10, you better make sure he's a can't miss because you are passing up on a lot of all pro talent at other positions

He definitely earned that introduction. Really great interview!
