Rodman was one of the few players I saw actually defend Shaq and be a factor. Now, you can’t stop the Diesel but, Dennis would throw him off his game and get rebounds that Shaq would normally have gotten. He would make Shaq much less of a factor in the game. It may not show up in the stats but, he was effective. In the 12 games they played vs each other Dennis averaged 17.2 rebounds.

Dennis is one of the very few players that defines hard work will result in success, and never give-up attitude very well. The fact that he spent a couple of years as a janitor after high school, and going to a small school to play college ball, and was already in his mid-20s when he was drafted by the Pistons, is astonishing and rarity now. He may had his issues, but he left the game as arguably the greatest rebounder AND defender of all time, and the first player that you'd think of when diving for the ball to preserve a possession and get his guys to make a play.

He could cover anybody and if he wanted a rebound he was going to get that rebound. Physically and mentally tough and was willing to do whatever to win. Every great team needs a player like him to get over the hump. He was part of my favorite Bulls team because of how well his skills blended with the team. Rodman was the greatest rebounder o fall-time, the most versatile defender of all-time, arguably one of the Top 5 defenders all-time although that shouldn't be an argument, and one of the hardest players of all-time. He never took a night off while on the court and never took a play off. He would probably average 20 RPGs in today's NBA but get ejected on a weekly basis, lol but true... he would whoop Draymond Green's @ss at some point. Don't forget also that Rodman sat out during layup drills & warm-ups to study how each player's ball rotated and came off the rim. His job was to rebound & play defense and he focused 100% on being the best he could be at those two assignments. Instead of "The Worm" he should've been dubbed "The Wizard", IMO. Another Great video!

I laugh at youngsters saying Roman could not play in today's game. While I would agree he might be more of a center in today's game he would dominate because what people forget is that he could guard all the positions. Like a James, Pippen, Artest etc. that skillset is absolutely invaluable in an era of basketball. NBA offense are all about trying to get mismatches by setting screens and exploiting the mismatch, but if you have a player on your team that is an elite athlete and has that certain size of around 6"7 to 6"9 that can't be exploited it is a HUGE thing and advantage.

i don't know what the worm was thinking but i know the feeling when i was playing basketball i didn't thinked so much my only goal was " get the ball and give it to someone that can score ( i was not good at it) i only had one idea on my mind "get the ball" and was putting everything in it i too was a pest like rodman i had a little less energy but i was using everything i never really cared about the score whatever if we was winning or loosing i just had my fun doing my best to get the ball, to heard other player pissed of of my defence and that gaved me some gigles while playing and these gigles didn"t feeled they was liked by the other players, others players didn't liked to have me on defence on them but i didn't cared i was having my fun doing everything i could and MAYBE i was a little "bad" because the swearing made me gigle... that was my playstyle and ironicaly roddman was far to be my favorite NBA player my favorite in the playstyle was mostly his oposite johns stocktons!
so i don't know if roddman had a hight basketball IQ MAYBE he was like me just wanting to do his best that his only oponent was himself ( fighting to be better than the old you) and so MAYBE his "pest" personality was just an impression! i think it's why he cryed on his defensor of the years award, he may not had been thinking "it's a prize" but more "peoples reconized me as someone that needed that!" that could go with his past and mentality with the entrainor that got him out of the street!
