Okay this was unexpected. My VLC crashes when I display VLC on my second monitor and start up a game. I've been searching for fixxes for a long time but never found one. Now I changed the mpeg codec Thread to 2 and now I can game and watch VLC video's again! Thanks alot good sir, you fixed a really annoying problem!

Guys try this, i tried doing the first step with changing the 300 to 600 but make it 1000, and change the other two 300 under 1000 too. It worked for me and my backward and fast forward became much smoother
Thanks, Yeah this worked for me with my GoPro Hero 5 videos, somewhere 60k data bitrate and would not run. Another note I changed the file caching (ms) to 1000 from 60000 (looks like max might be 1000 and no greater, as I think it defaults back to 3 ms if a higher value).

Super! I just set the cache number from 300 to 24000 and it worked like a charm (yeah My system has a lot of RAM; 32GB DDR3-RAM).

Yeah absolutely nothing worked even uninstalling and reinstalling. VLC is just shit program now. We shouldn't have to find work arounds for this.
