I absolutely love it. The viper is my favourite ship in the game! o7 CMDR. The only thing I could say is that I've never imagined the Viper to have any real crew quarters, being designed as a light, short range fighter. But, given it is a semi capable exploration ship, it does also make sense
Amazing job! Viper MKIII was my "2nd" ship and I probably took on the most bounty hunting missions with it. This ship was the ship that I launched my E:D career with. So good to see some sort of inside idea. I love it!
This is great. I'd pay good money for a complete expansion with all ship interiors! Running to your fighter when engaged with the enemy, doing repairs and maintenance, climbing onto your SRV on an alien planet, or just enjoying your ship while deep on an exploration expedition. It feels like a home, you get a sense of its great scale, it adds immersion and new layers of gameplay, what's not to like?? Why can't Frontier understand this?
Ive been waiting 4 years for any kind of decent content! Spacelegs will most likely never come to fruition. Fdev does not care about this game very much anymore. They are focused on making cash cow tycoon games. Arx was the last ditch effort to milk as much money out of it as possible before "tHe nEw eRa" which will most likely be a massive disappointment. I could be wrong, maybe the game gets a massive redemption arc and it becomes the golden age of elite. But the past 2 years have shown us that this is highly unlikely
@@hariszark7396 Lmao, Ikr. Yeah, everybody knows it's been in development for a long time, but the point here is, even they have space legs already and fully interactable ships which you can walk around inside of with your friends while moving through space or even "Super Cruise" type space. Pretty much totally independently of whatever else is happening on board. The in-game voice chat is also a really nice thing to have. And although somewhat in its current iteration, the face over IP feature is kind of neat. Being able to move your character's head in most directions with just your webcam. With full VR support later down the line, this is a good thing to have in the interim as an option.
@@ironman98 Yeah. Star Citizen is a massive multi-game like nothing else out there in immersion and visual pleasure. Your videos bring me more joy than what Frontier have done with Elite lately. I hope they make up for that in 2020. I am desperate for solid new content, for the best spacesim on the block. Don't get me wrong: I absolutely love Elite!
With quality and work like this I don't mind the lack of sound at all, these videos of yours are filling in an enormous missing part of elite dangerous, and for this I cannot thank you enough.
Very cool walkthrough. You're quite talented and I hope to see more of these walkthrough videos. I also really liked your cutaway sidewinder. There were 2 details that I think many real ship designers would have done a bit different though. In the economy cabins, reclining chairs that you can belt into would probably be more practical than beds. If there's space freighters and space miners, I'm guessing there's also space lawyers. I would think standard procedure for take off's and landings would be for the passengers to be belted in to prevent injuries (and lawsuits) in case of emergency maneuvers. A slightly nicer cabin might have a pair of beds stacked on one side (with storage under the lower bunk) and a pair of seats facing one another with a small table in between like the dinette layout on small boats and RV's. The other detail is that I don't think I'd want to wash my dishes in the same place as I do my socks and dirty underwear. :^) Most of the food carried on a small ship would probably be compact pre packaged meals like the frozen pizzas and TV dinners available now. Cooking wouldn't need much space and mostly you'd be washing utensils and small plates. They already make small in sink dishwashers so I would think something like that might be more reasonable. These are a couple of minor nitpicks of a great video and everything else about the design seems quite well thought out. Like the sort of place somebody would actually build and work and live in. I'm hoping you build a library of modules you can use to more easily do your future videos. Model once, then drop them into other ships for other videos. If you've ever seen the game Cosmonautica, you might get the idea. In that game you start with an empty hull (engine and control room are the only ones fixed) and you add room modules to fill out the space as you see fit.
Bruh, amazing work! I was so drawn into "show me more", I couldn't wait to see the cockpit even though I already knew what it looked like. I hope you work for Frontier, my goodness this is amazing work.
Duuuude! These videos are amazing. Assuming Frontier ever let us explore our own shops, they have the standards that YOU are setting to meet, perhaps eventually surpass. You are fulfilling many of our imaginations here. Thank you!
"Only" 48 Days??? Are you kidding us all? This is amazing, my good Sir! (I take it you do this in your free time, don't you?) I think you made the devs at Frontier cringe every time you do such a video, because they just realize what a mess their ships actually are, and that they have a lot of work to do to make all the ships fit for space legs... . ;) A number of questions: - do you have any idea how a fuelscoop is supposed to work - considering it can fit in ANY optional slot AND needs to have some access to the outside of the ship? - the idea that the restricted slots are smaller is a very good idea, considering that only certain modules need to fit in there; is this official, or did you just made that up to make everything fit? - what are you doing for a living, actually? (I am asking since I somehow assume you either do something like this professionally, or are just very passionated; ignore this question if it is to personal) o7
Thank you! I totally agree with you about FDev and their ships. - I assume there might be dedicated fuel pipes already built into the ship, which connect scooping point on the hull to the all possible cargo slots. And the fuel scoop could just connect to the system - there are no official information on any module sizes, apart from maybe hardpoints, which you can see modeled in the ship models. so this is completely made up and unofficial. - I'm a software developer, and this is done fully in my spare time.
@@JohnUs300 Thanks for the answers! And keep up the good work - I am totally looking forward to the 2020 Update (assuming it actually _IS_ spacelegs), and how Frontiers designs will be in comparison to your's. ;)
My best guess is that the fuel scoop gathers hydrogen atoms using magnetic fields, similar to the Bussard Ramscoops on Starfleet ships, or (based on the fact you have to be close to the star), the Destiny in "Stargate: Universe" (the worst, and shortest, of the Stargate series [although the cartoon "Stargate: Infinity" may have been shorter. I'm not sure]).
I guess the Fuel Scoop module magnetically gathers ionized hydrogen particles from solar corona, cools them down, and compresses them into usable fuel. The ships already have installed the fuel piping and a small magnetic generator (guiding the particles into an intake), but the module itself makes most of the gathering field, and also handles filtration, cooling, and compression.
Fantastic! Sidey and viper account for like 90% of my in game time. Thank you for giving them interiors... It adds to the idea of the ship whilst flying, knowing what's behind the door. You're a genius!
This is amazing! Who care if your models aren't that great. You've done more with what little resources you have than Frontier has done with the backing of millions in budget.
The fact that frontier haven’t got this guy on their team says to me either they are blind and just haven’t heard of him or they think they can actually produce something better??? Lol... seriously Frj, another amazing virtual concept tour... I’m amazed you can do this... you bring hope to the darkness left by frontier
I am absolutely stunned. I just don't even know where to begin. Kudos for putting such an amazing video together, I really hope this sort of thing is actually implemented in the game someday.
I expected that ship miniature to be the Normandy. Turns out it was the Clipper (or the Courier?), but the author actually snuck a ME reference elsewhere :)
You never disappoint. Absolutely amazing work as usual. Thank you so much for putting the time, effort and care into creating these fabulous ships. Frontier had better take notice :)
This singular feature alone would make Elite 10x better. Imagine slowly supercruising through a system while you sit down and read a book in your cabin.
I like the trade-off of the lower detail and lack of sounds for more frequent releases and voice-over. Would love to see the Clipper or Anaconda someday
A small point of critique: The cargo in the storage room, as well as above the passenger beds does not seem to be properly secured for spaceflight. Some kind of "lock in place" system would greatly enhance realism there. In general remember that the interior needs to be usable in 0g. Without straps the passengers would simply fall out of their beds and get severely hurt in a combat manouver.
Indeed a lovely aspirational model, But this poor cmdr obviously can't afford the finest in small ships or he would be guiding us round it! Jokeing aside its a great touch to give the ship interior a sense of life and I too would love to see how the eagle variants, Courier and DBX look to this guys imagination. Though for me the Keelback/T6 and T7 might be more interesting being a step or two up in scale... So far these renders are very impressive, I just wonder if the sleeping spaces should be on a tilt so they have a sensible 'down' while under thrust as well as on planets and spinning stations - I always imagined them as being tubes that contain the bunks/rooms and rotate with the corner spaces being the passengers personal storage presumably accessible through various hatches in the tube of a room and the supplementary life support and food supplies for the ungrateful whiners you let aboard your ship...
@@foldionepapyrus3441 Ah, yes. The Diamondback Explorer is another really good ship to see the interior of. Many explorers must be wondering how their main ship must look. I imagine it's designed for long-term space travel. The idea is that spinning stations create their own gravity through centrifugal force, so you are feeling a downward pull even if you're spinning. You won't need a tilted bed. Though in the docking bay, you only experience 10% of the Earth's gravity. You'd have to travel farther out inside the station to get the strongest pull. And I don't believe that passengers get the luxury of spinning compartments, because being far smaller than a station, they would have to spin much, much faster. I think if you're traveling in any of the player owned ships, you're going to have to deal with no gravity, no matter how rich you are. And I feel like having internal compartments spinning inside of the ship will make it wobble, like a controller with vibration.
@@Musetrigger I do not mean spin gravity in the compartments - but a rotational frame of reference so that under acceleration you have thrust gravity still holding you 'down' onto the floor and bed etc (which would only need to be in the 'forward' main engine direction). Which means you want the rotation so that when on a station or planet the room can be turned to match the new down. With Elite not really having true Newtonian physics in normal space you could only accelerate so long, but supercruise can keep getting faster, then keeps getting slower in the forward-backward direction so makes sense for that..(and for normal space really as we should be able to go however fast we like just taking a long time to get there, but for gameplay and engine limitations of course that isn't actually possible - but the fastest ships in the game do mach 2 ish at boost)
I just put it there, because I asked myself - what would a viper pilot be dreaming about to get one day :) I was thinking about a Courier episode, but it looks like Courier hull does not fit my interior model unfortunately. Too small to fit all the required modules. My model isn't perfect.
Great job. Cool attention to detail and all looks really plausible. It would add hugely to game immersion. I am sure the staff from Frontier have seen this.
Very cool, FRj. I can see you took some time to get this right. I love the calendar and the model Courier! It's funny, you see these ships in the menu, but you don't get an idea of the size of these things until you see a 'size comparison' video and think 'holy shit! my corvette is like a small cruise liner!!' I think (hope) that Frontier Dev will allow us to walk around the ships in the future and I think you should send them your Resume!. THIS would certainly give us a better sense of size. Especially the Cutter or the Beluga. But nice job with the walk around. See you in the black. CMDR Pyreos
now imagine. this guy makes ship interiors pretty detailed in his free time and that in a respectable timeframe. now think if frontier would finally see what player want and let its people work on this. imagine how fast we could easily have all this ingame. Frontier is just lazy and money hungry and also. Can you imagine when this guy would make a full interior for one of the BIG ships? it would be glorious and would be worth the wait

It’s not having this
i'm always pretty amazed by how much you fit into the ships and how large it all is, then again ED ships are much bigger than you'd think
This is really cool! It's nice to see a slightly larger ship, and i feel like i could really live in this one. I think it was a good decision to cut the sound and use lower-detail models and textures, I still got a good idea of what the ship is like. Looking forward to seeing what you make next!
Simply amazing work.
As soon as this went public I posted it on the Mobius FB group and many pilots drooled.
Very well done.
I’d be so interested to see the full correct scale of a medium ship like the aspx and a large ship like the anaconda. You get some idea with a ship line up for scale but walking about the interior is a whole other story
I love the verticality, it really makes these strangely-looking ships space efficient. You managed to integrate it in your design really well. What I'd love to have seen is the maintenance crawl space!
That imperial courier in the commander's quarters was a nice bit of flair
This is nuts. It's amazing how you not only fit everything together, but you also took the time to think about how all the systems actually fit together in the ship. From where you sleep and eat, to maintenance hatches for all of the core equipment, to how cargo and internal modules are moved around in the cargo bay
you mate, are incredible. Your love for the work it's stunning. I hope this videos keep coming and you keep becoming better and better at managing your efficiency so we can have more stunning work from you. Really appreciate the time you took for... all of us E.D. geeks in a way. Regards from Chile
Its amazing how much cooler ships like this become when they have interiors.
Brillant thank you. The calendar in the crew quarters was a nice touch 👍
I can only dream that this will someday be ingame. Thanks so much for these amazing designs, keep up the good work.
I must have watched this 40 something times. So good. Looking foward to what ever comes next. Hoping for the Cobra Mk 3.
I'm speechless. Dreaming on your Cobra MKIII design. I just wanted to point one thing: Those ships fly with no gravity. Things has to be strapped on or they'll float around. But, please, it's just a small detail. Your job is far beyond amazing.
I regret that I have but one upvote to give on this video. Excellent job, Commander.
Wow this is amazing! We really appreciate you doing these vids man and we don’t care about sound effects! Your narration is more than enough! Thank you for making them!
your work is amazing and you just go to show us all that it is possible to create the ships with interiors now and use them in game, frontier should be approaching you to do their models for them, even if it takes some time i would more then happy to wait for each ship to come out and would inspire me to get them one by one and outfit them in many different ways just to see how it all looks. please keep it up man these are amazing and you do brilliant work
Now this is how I’m going to imagine the interior of my Viper from now on! Bravo, beautiful work.
I absolutely love it. The viper is my favourite ship in the game! o7 CMDR.
The only thing I could say is that I've never imagined the Viper to have any real crew quarters, being designed as a light, short range fighter. But, given it is a semi capable exploration ship, it does also make sense
I assumed every ship had custome interiors seeing how you can fit passenger cabins on every ship
The sidewinder living quarters are more comfortable though.
Amazing!
Shared it with ObsidianAnt and his channel, hope more
people share this too!
Well done! You are brilliant. I hate to think how much time you spent on this but, thank you, it is appreciated.
Obsidant Ant brought me here!
This is a *GREAT VIDEO!*
I hope FDev are paying attention to this. Been waiting four+ years for space legs.
Have you seen Star Citizen?
It's been for about 7(+/-) years in development and it will be for several more IMO. But I am not a game developer to know how much time is needed to make a good game. I only know SC is something we haven't seen before, we were waiting for it for the last 25+ years and it will change the way games are made.
Also for me in the current alpha stage is more fun than many other "full" games out there.
@@sneakycactus8815 Dude space legs is the very next thing. Don't pretend you don't know about the leak thats been correct 6/6 times now.
And if you didn't want a delay in content. next time dont ask for it by saying stupid shit like "Can we have next season all at once instead of in 4 parts"
Kudos dude, the slide down the cargo ladder was a really nice touch I wasn't blaming frontier for not doing interiors on the ships despite really wanting it as it would be such a tough job but you have shown how it can be done. Really great job.
Your videos bring me more joy than what Frontier have done with Elite lately.
I hope they make up for that in 2020. I am desperate for solid new content, for the best spacesim on the block.
Don't get me wrong: I absolutely love Elite!
They won't.
@@Lunam_D._Roger I can't say. I hope you are wrong.
@@Ploskkky So do I. I want the game to get better... But I doubt it will.
Most of the food carried on a small ship would probably be compact pre packaged meals like the frozen pizzas and TV dinners available now.
I love how much work you put into these. Amazing !
(I take it you do this in your free time, don't you?)
I think you made the devs at Frontier cringe every time you do such a video, because they just realize what a mess their ships actually are, and that they have a lot of work to do to make all the ships fit for space legs... . ;)
A number of questions:
- do you have any idea how a fuelscoop is supposed to work - considering it can fit in ANY optional slot AND needs to have some access to the outside of the ship?
- the idea that the restricted slots are smaller is a very good idea, considering that only certain modules need to fit in there; is this official, or did you just made that up to make everything fit?
- what are you doing for a living, actually? (I am asking since I somehow assume you either do something like this professionally, or are just very passionated; ignore this question if it is to personal)
o7
Thank you! I totally agree with you about FDev and their ships.
- I assume there might be dedicated fuel pipes already built into the ship, which connect scooping point on the hull to the all possible cargo slots. And the fuel scoop could just connect to the system
- there are no official information on any module sizes, apart from maybe hardpoints, which you can see modeled in the ship models. so this is completely made up and unofficial.
- I'm a software developer, and this is done fully in my spare time.
@@JohnUs300 Thanks for the answers!
And keep up the good work - I am totally looking forward to the 2020 Update (assuming it actually _IS_ spacelegs), and how Frontiers designs will be in comparison to your's. ;)
Considering the amount of work space legs would take, it might already be in progress, maybe just maybe.
This + VR. Braingasm. You're damn good!!! Keep it up, you'll grow and be recognized. Trust me!
You just made my day. Thank you!
Fantastic! Sidey and viper account for like 90% of my in game time. Thank you for giving them interiors... It adds to the idea of the ship whilst flying, knowing what's behind the door. You're a genius!
That Miranda's poster just show the good taste for games that you have, man
Congrats!
Frontier, what are you waiting for to hire this guy here?
It is hilarious and at the same time sad that this man can do a job better than a game developer company. Excellent work!
8:34 for a Viper tour, I am Looking Forward to the 5 hour Anaconda tour :) great work many thanks
Wonderful detail, and great imagination. TY for taking the time to put this together. Makes me wish we could walk around in the game...

Bro I'm suprised he didn't get banned 0-0
This is amazing! Who care if your models aren't that great. You've done more with what little resources you have than Frontier has done with the backing of millions in budget.
Brilliant design. Thank you so much for sharing. ^^
The fact that frontier haven’t got this guy on their team says to me either they are blind and just haven’t heard of him or they think they can actually produce something better??? Lol... seriously Frj, another amazing virtual concept tour... I’m amazed you can do this... you bring hope to the darkness left by frontier
this is why ed needs modding
The percentage of galaxy explored is larger than the difference from likes and not likes, and well deserved.
dev needs to hire you!
I am absolutely stunned. I just don't even know where to begin. Kudos for putting such an amazing video together, I really hope this sort of thing is actually implemented in the game someday.
Mass Effect Calendar?
Glad I’m not the only one who thought that.
I expected that ship miniature to be the Normandy. Turns out it was the Clipper (or the Courier?), but the author actually snuck a ME reference elsewhere :)

That's really cool! Would love to see the interior of an AspX or a Krait one day :-)
You never disappoint. Absolutely amazing work as usual. Thank you so much for putting the time, effort and care into creating these fabulous ships. Frontier had better take notice :)

p.s do you think the DBX could be done next as it would be interesting
Wall that's amazing. Echoing what others have said. Frontier Developments hire this guy!
7:12 - A hint of the next ship :D
This singular feature alone would make Elite 10x better. Imagine slowly supercruising through a system while you sit down and read a book in your cabin.
I've never clicked so fast in my life.
I like the trade-off of the lower detail and lack of sounds for more frequent releases and voice-over. Would love to see the Clipper or Anaconda someday
A small point of critique:
The cargo in the storage room, as well as above the passenger beds does not seem to be properly secured for spaceflight.
Some kind of "lock in place" system would greatly enhance realism there.
In general remember that the interior needs to be usable in 0g.
Without straps the passengers would simply fall out of their beds and get severely hurt in a combat manouver.
This^. Elite has no artificial gravity according to lore
@@noobtube7344 Well....unless the rotating stations count.
Love, love, love these! Thank you for your hard work in making these.
really glad I have star citizen so I can walk around my ship in game. Hope you guys get that some day too.
You know I do actually feel sorry for ED players. :/ Probably why a lot of people I've been meeting recently in Star Citizen are actually ED players.
The little Courier model in the crew quarters! That's my ship!! I seriously can't wait to see a video on that.
Fantastic work!
With Elite not really having true Newtonian physics in normal space you could only accelerate so long, but supercruise can keep getting faster, then keeps getting slower in the forward-backward direction so makes sense for that..(and for normal space really as we should be able to go however fast we like just taking a long time to get there, but for gameplay and engine limitations of course that isn't actually possible - but the fastest ships in the game do mach 2 ish at boost)
is the little Imperial Courier a hint for the upcoming episode?
I just put it there, because I asked myself - what would a viper pilot be dreaming about to get one day :)
I was thinking about a Courier episode, but it looks like Courier hull does not fit my interior model unfortunately. Too small to fit all the required modules. My model isn't perfect.
@@JohnUs300 you should check - maybe all measurements are made in imperial units? ;)
Great job. Cool attention to detail and all looks really plausible. It would add hugely to game immersion. I am sure the staff from Frontier have seen this.
it's been 2 frigging years and they still don't have released ship interiors or even anounced a schedule. *smh*
CMDR Pyreos
Frontier.... best man wait for you!!!!
That little courier on your bedstand got you my like. Fdev should hire you ASAP
now imagine.
this guy makes ship interiors pretty detailed in his free time and that in a respectable timeframe.
now think if frontier would finally see what player want and let its people work on this. imagine how fast we could easily have all this ingame.
Frontier is just lazy and money hungry
and also. Can you imagine when this guy would make a full interior for one of the BIG ships? it would be glorious and would be worth the wait
Well I am amazed. It's almost as if you designed and built this ship personally. I have a Viper MK III (engineered to the hilt) but I've never really appreciated how efficiently this compact little fighter uses the interior space. You've brought this ship to life CMDR. o7 and thanks.
