Excellent advice here, I would love to see how you sharpen your serrated blades! I think it's awesome to see an owner of a company take time out of his day to share his knowledge with his customer base.
As a Firefighter, I rely on my knife to perform every single time. From cutting seatbelts and flattening tires during auto accident extrications, to opening up sheetrock and walls during a structure fire overhaul, I need my knife to open, cut, and close EVERY SINGLE TIME. Often, I can only do this one handed, and my Microtech performs flawlessly. Firefighters are known to tear apart anything in their path to complete the job. This knife makes that possible, EVERY SINGLE TIME. These knives simply won’t fail you when you need it most. I have complete faith that I can rely on this knife to help me save lives. PERIOD! I can’t think of a clearer way to say - you can trust these knives like no other. We are very hard on our tools, because every second counts in a rescue. I trust the engineering and materials used to build these tools. This knife is a tool, that works flawlessly, and still looks beautiful and perfect in its design. If you’ve been on the fence about purchasing one, rest assured that you will never regret buying a Microtech. I don’t believe there is a better EDC knife out there… at any price.
I’m the same way, one handed operation SAFELY! My only addition is the glass breaker. How many times have you seen an officer wailing away with their collapsible baton on a car window? And as we both know with the modern car windows, you wind up in the water being able to get out of that car quickly can be a serious problem.
Just bought my first Microtech, a UTX-85. I can already tell I’ll be building a collection. Super impressed with these knives, and especially after seeing videos of the production process and factory tours, it’s very apparent that they’re worth the money.
My absolute favorite Microtech knife is the UTX-70 that my wife and kids got me last fathers day! It has a satin drop point blade and I use it every single day. It also happens to be my favorite fathers day present ever.
My favorite Microtech knife is kind of like asking me which one of my children is my favorite. If I had to pick one, Ultratech Hellhound...perfect size for everything, very versatile, looks amazing, performs like a champ.
Truly amazing to see a master in his craft! It's literally second nature to him when he's behind the grind wheel. Learned so much from this video alone!
It’s great to see the owner of Microtech on the wheel, makes me feel good about purchasing knives from a company that stands by their customers. Thanks for the awesome video!
I am originally out of aviation and can totally appreciate the Marfiones commitment to demanding nothing less than (a) quality product(s). Furthering this, he out does this by offering what little free time he has in educating his customers and others w/ informative videos w/ tips on proper knife sharpening ! That is why l carry my Microtech Ultratech and am constantly watching to see what they will come out with next. Thank you !
I just sharpened mine which has a hellhound blade using a 22 degree angle. I used a TSPROF hunter pro to sharpen it. I would have used a sharper angle, but given how tiny the blade is 22 was the best that I could do.
Lol, I have a ultratech, socom, and a stitch. The Stitch by far was the sharpest out of the box. The other two were belt chattered. Both ultratech and socom now have 3 KME sharpenings. A friend of mine got a ultratech, wasn’t happy with the sharpness out of box. Sent it back for resharpening. He got it back after a month. I don’t think they touched it.
I really have to say, I like Tony. He’s my kind of guy. I have a half a dozen MT knives I’ve picked up over 20 years. I’ve read some posts over the years basically not saying nice things about this man. I never paid too much attention to those people, the same could be said about anyone. If someone doesn’t like you, you know how that goes. I’m proud to say I own these fine cutting tools. I continue to pick up MT pieces.
I always appreciate a look into the manufacturing environment. Makes me feel better about the companies I support when I can see the time and effort put into the products.*Forgot to add my favorite knife, SOCOM Elite Manual!
He might be good in the morning but he is best at the end of the day 💪 heroic stuff honestly, sharing things like this is so valuable and we admire the heck out of tony for doing it!
I absolutely love your knives, you can't beat the quality and precision that you guys put into each and every one of your knives and you are a company who makes me proud with not only making ( in my humble opinion 😜) the highest quality products right here at home in the best country in the whole world , the United States of America!!! Sincerely you guys make me proud to say that your knives are American made . If you couldn't tell I do carry your Microtech Ultratech from the 2018 knife show and it's showing it's age a little bit but it's received some loving care and maintenance and is still working beautiful!
Though it’s been around for a while, the Ultratech is the most evolved knife in the lineup. Reliable enough to trust your life with, the perfect size to fit in my MOLLE gear or pocket, classy clean lines. Oh, and the sound it makes gives one a smile and a chub simultaneously.
I’ve got to say that I’m hooked. Bought my first Ultratech a couple of months ago and was amazed at the craftsmanship and solid design. It’s been a part of my EDC ever since.
I've carried an LUDT for years now, the same one. The way it ages yet stays sharp and is able to serve me every day no matter what situation is incomparable to any other. I'll always carry this knife, it it the absolute best!
good to see someone grow the company while keeping the craftsmanship as an integral factor in their products. Many manufacturers lose sight of that. Thank you for bringing back craftsmanship to US-made products.
Being in law enforcement, I’ve carried sever different models since my career started. Ultratech, UTX85, Stitch, Navy and QD Scarab, Marfione HH Combat Troodon, Marfione Troodon Interceptor with Dark Matter blade and a manual tanto partially serrated Socom. Everyone of them has been reliable and I would trust my life with them but the Socom is one of my all time favorites. Realizing there are manual and auto Socoms, I always wondered why someone would buy a manual over an auto….until I carried a manual. Love that knife!!! My favorite OTF would have to be the OG Scarab with the new Scarab II a close second. Thanks for always looking out for service personnel and making absolutely amazing products!! Love yalls knives I'm a first responder and I carry a microtech everyday. There's nothing like the snap when you deploy the blade. Keep up the good work.
Great tips for sharpening knives! My son-in-law, Gamy, showed me your video and I'm hooked! Love your knives, Gamy showed me his and it's such a great knife.
I've been hand sharpening since I was 12 years old and I never miss an opportunity to learn from a master in their field. Now that I know the care you put into your brand I will be buying my first of many Microtech knives.
I recently learned about micro tech knifes and instantly became a fan of your ultra tech knifes and especially want to get myself a utx 70 when I can afford one. Thank you God bless you 🙏 and take care
I live in Fletcher and have owned Microtech for years. I always thought it was a small company that made super high quality performance knives. Now I know Microtech is one of the most sought out collected knife company. I use and carry all of mine. I have sent some for sharping and I have to say they do a perfect job and are a great company to deal with
I love my Ultratech so much, For so many years I owned low quality, some middle of the pack knives and they never lasted, even with minimal use. I'm so glad I found Microtech, best investment. Now I need another ultratech for my other pocket!
Microtech Ultratech sets the bar very high for the competition. You know you've got the the very best period, that being said all the Microtech knifes are the best you can get. Thanks for an awesome video.
I think this video will clear up confusion for folks. I know it did for me. It’s fun to watch Tony and the gang at their craft. Microtech is another great, American company.
Microtech Knives are top quality, I own one now but I would love a OTF. Nice to see American craftsmanship that still alive and strong. Had to use my Socom Elite glass break on a truck window, older gentleman was passed out and not responsive and doors were locked Subscribed 👍
First time I held a microtech I was hooked ,American Quality, dedication in building a business,it’s what people from around the world think about when they think USA.Proud to own one.
I have been a fan of Microtech since their inception. Knowing their products as the gold standard of fine knives. Unfortunately I've only been able to buy clones of these beautiful blades. Hopefully after this I'll be able to represent with the real deal. Thanks for the sharpening tutorial of how you do things in your shop & FINALLY an explanation as to WHY a Microtech warranty would voided if I sharpen myself. You guys are awesome!
The Socom Elite is the best knife I’ve ever had the pleasure of using. I went through an OTF phase but 10 years later, I still carry the SE. I do get a kick out of seeing peoples faces when they see my money clip fire a dagger.
Microtech has been one of my favorite knife companies since I bought my first LUDT back in 2006. Definitely the best OTF’s on the market the standard all others are judge by me for sure.
Absolutely the Microtech Stitch!!! Followed by the Combat Troodon then the SOCOM Elite! Microtech Knives offer the best price-to-quality ratio than any other manufacturer. You can never go wrong with choosing any of the knives in their lineup! 👍👍👍
Love the fact that the Owner and CEO of a company will still get his hands dirty and put in some work for his customers. I own plenty of Microtech knives and plan on getting more in the future. Absolutely love my Stitch for an EDC and my SBD for hunting/camping.
I just bought my first microtech knife last year and I love it! My favorite blade is the Dirac delta w/ apocalyptic blade!!! I bought a tac-p a few months ago...I think I may have an addiction.
I have known Tony since the wife was his girl friend and I came to see him at a small warehouse in Vero Beach FL. I have at least 10 MT's of all types including a mini LUDT, a splash LUDT and a filet knife. I worked for S&W and had a few socoms made for my old SWAT team with their names and badge #. I have a socom elite #277 that has been my constant go-to since 2000 and it has aged gracefully like myself. Great to see he is still very much still hands on.
Tell him to stop being a dick about warranty! We pay a lot for knives we can’t sharpen or open or even change out screws. I’ve got 4 tours and have been maintaining knives since I was a small CHILD.
My daily carry is a Microtech Stitch stonewashed in my right front pocket and a UTX-85 double edge one side full serrated black tactical in my left front pocket. Love them....❤
My Microtech ultratech is the best EDC I’ve ever owned. Will cut through anything and still fire like the first time I picked it up. Glad you guys exist!
Howdy from Colorado, I use a Works Sharp machine and really learned a lot from your video Tony. So glad that you took the time to show us your angle technique and some of the basics. Now don't be shy and sell us your own chemical compound for honing knives, you could call it the "Free Knife Secret Souse" ha ha. Thanks again Tony for demanding excellence in your craft. M.
Amazing to see what you can accomplish with some blood, sweat and tears. Well done!! The Stitch has been one of my most used and definitely my favorite knife to date.
Microtech Ultratech D/E full serrated on one side! Beast of a knife. This is my first Microtech, and I’ve got to say, I’m very impressed with the quality of this knife! Im hooked on Microtech now! Definitely plan on getting me another one in the future.
My favorite model you guys made was the first scarab I had one but it unfortunately kept breaking springs so you gave me a cypher its great but no scarab. Thx Tony
Thank you for sharing. Great control looking down inside the blade on the contact wheel. Simple human control by skilled hands is best. I'm curious how many knive edges might you get off the 120, and 600 belts respectively before you have to change them out?
Man what a absolutely amazing Quality Assurance steps taken! I own the Stitch and would be honored to give this blade a home!! Thanks Tony and Microtech!!
Just purchased the Marfione Custom Socom Elite Tanto Edge Artic Blue Fat Carbon Fiber Two-tone Stonewash with Blue Titanium . Could not be happier and already looking for another. What a beautiful knife! Thank you!
I recently got the Bounty Hunter Exocet knife for my birthday and I absolutely love it. The detail in the blade and handle is beautiful. I am personally even more impressed after learning more about this business’s roots in this video.
Thanks for clarifying warranty related to sharpening. Some hate in the online forums over the years for this subject and X-Ring was good to dig into it. The edge angles was a great touch as well. Microtech stands behind their products. I was introduced to higher end production knives via Benchmade. I’ve had a couple of their OTFs (Phaeton and Autocrat). The grinds are completely inconsistent. Not just on the edge, the main grinds as well. Add to that, they increased their blade replacement fees to be insane. My UTX-85, Ultratech (I’ve had 4…trade some for others), Troodon and Combat Troodon have come perfect out of the box. Finish, grinds, everything. T/E looks awesome. Cheers!
So cool, I'm a huge fan of Microtech, they're the best in the business. I lost my entire collection in a house fire last year. So I've had to start my collection of knives and guns all over again. It sucks, but it's really exciting to find new knives and guns at the same time.
Favorite is a 2003 DLC Scarab. I have carried it for 18 years. Now I carry the stonewashed Scarab 2. It's lasted and I absolutely love it. And now the new design. Such a beast.
My fave was either my socom (opened many MRE’s with it) or my U85. It’s a perfect EDC size for me. Carry it every day. Which reminds me. I need to send it in for a touch up. Getting sluggish
I had a mini socom from 1998. Sold that last year to upgrade a new LUDT. Have since sold that as well. Now carrying a mini troodon tanto. I have really become a tanto fan lately.
Absolutely love Microtech Knives!! If I won the lottery, you know the first stop would be on every Microtech page on every website😂. I’ve had a blue ultratech t/e for about 2 years now and have religiously carried it every day and can honestly say, I wouldn’t want to trust my life with any other brand of knife! Thank you Tony and the whole Microtech crew for the amazing work you all perform so that us collectors and users can cherish the impeccable workmanship! Take care!
Such a pleasure to see how the care and hand work go into the Micotech blades. Free hand is amazing. I always thought it was with an angle block. Keep up the great work to all the folks at Microtech
You can tell this man has a lifelong passion for this. He is the owner! This is why when I first saw a Microtech in the early 90’s, I wanted one.
Excellent advice here, I would love to see how you sharpen your serrated blades! I think it's awesome to see an owner of a company take time out of his day to share his knowledge with his customer base.
I worked here for some time and it was a very cool experience. Tony is an awesome guy and has built a great company.
Off the bat, Tony saying associates and not employees is really sticking out to me. 👍

I carry a 85 everyday the size is perfect.
Same here. I bought an 85 with the hellhound blade for edc and I'm itching to replace it with a combat troodon.
I’ve got an ultratech coming this week, I held one of my friends recently and was obsessed with the action

Hard call on a favorite. Probably the SOCOM Elite, but I also really love my Scarab II.
Microtech is the best American made otf knife company hands down. Quality products and top shelf customer service.
I would say Hogue is much better on production knives. MT on the custom
Truly amazing to see a master in his craft! It's literally second nature to him when he's behind the grind wheel. Learned so much from this video alone!
Isn't second nature idiomatic ?

Man what a absolutely amazing Quality Assurance steps taken! I own the Stitch and would be honored to give this blade a home!! Thanks Tony and Microtech!!
Just purchased the Marfione Custom Socom Elite Tanto Edge Artic Blue Fat Carbon Fiber Two-tone Stonewash with Blue Titanium . Could not be happier and already looking for another. What a beautiful knife! Thank you!
I recently got the Bounty Hunter Exocet knife for my birthday and I absolutely love it. The detail in the blade and handle is beautiful. I am personally even more impressed after learning more about this business’s roots in this video.
great video i always wanted to see how yall sharpened those beautiful knives.
Just got in to Microtech’s this past year and I’m already addicted and working hard to build my collection!
My fave was either my socom (opened many MRE’s with it) or my U85. It’s a perfect EDC size for me. Carry it every day. Which reminds me. I need to send it in for a touch up. Getting sluggish
Just purchased my first ultratech 123-1UMS from you guys and can't wait to get it in the mail. Thanks for the great customer service
Microtech knives are The best production knives made today!
Take care!
Thank you for the fantastic explanation on how you sharpen your knives. It is definitely an art to the science of sharpening them.
Wonderful to see the boss man doing what he does best! Your knives are the best!
That is nice of you to show us how you work your magic on the edges. I am a big fan of the UTX 85.
Such a pleasure to see how the care and hand work go into the Micotech blades. Free hand is amazing. I always thought it was with an angle block. Keep up the great work to all the folks at Microtech
Pretty cool to see a master at work thanks for the great videos guys keep it up !!!
Great to see the real thing no machines no computers just human eyes and hands making it happen great job!
