Cool engine, thanks for showing that , I remember after the wall came down I served quite a few Trabi's at the petrol station where I worked in Holland. They used a stick to see how much petrol they had 🙂
Cool story, it is now history. Yes it is a stick under the hood to check the fuel level 🙂 I live in Hungary near the border where the ex-DDR people have left they cars in 1989 and went to Austria. The streets were full with abandoned cars, Trabant, Wartburg, etc, it was strange.
1. Tighten the exhaust in this order: 1.1. The exhaust manifold to the cylinder 1.2. The cylinder bases 2. After 1000 km tighten the cylinder heads with the torque wrench again Good luck
Thanks for sharing! Did you check the head/cylinder nut torques before you removed them? The heads on my air-cooled VWs would get loose over time. Also, did you torque the nuts in 2 or 3 increments? Thanks again.
Hello, former when I was rebuilt the engine, I have used a torque wrench, but now after 13000km the nuts were loose, very loose. You can see it in the video from 04:00. Now with the new gaskets I only used a normal key, the torque was in my hand 🙂 after a few hours I have fastened the nuts once more, so there is a cut in the video between installing the cylinder heads and ending the works.

@@latzkoworks Wow, they are getting expensive here in the UK, I would have liked one 😎
@@christianlebracq1956 these old DDR cars in good condition are very expensive here too.
Man, the engine looks great, good job. Also, it sounds good. It will take you thousands more kilometers.
Thank you! Check my other video with this car, a have complete rebuilt it earlier.
@@latzkoworksYes, I remember, I watched it years ago, it's a good Trabi. Thank you for your effort.
@@tarikaymelekit was a hard work with this car first, rescue and rebuild. Thanks for watching and greetings from Hungary!

You are right 👍 now I did not loosen the cylinder base nuts, only the head nuts.
