- China's former leader Jiang Zemin, who came to power after the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, has died aged 96.
One of the major figures of Chinese history in recent decades, he presided over a time where China opened up on a vast scale and saw high-speed growth.
A Chinese Communist Party statement said he died of leukaemia and multiple organ failure.
It added that he was recognised "as an outstanding leader with high prestige" and "a long-tested Communist fighter".

Jiang Zemin is evil. He rose to power by killing and brainwashing thousands (possibly millions) of innocent people. They targeted Falun Gong because it was more popular in China than Communism, and the Communists knew that they wouldn't be able to control the minds of their people if Falun Gong became more popular. @@bittersweet1940 I am really shocked by how proud and confidence you are when saying "i learn all these from RUclips". I've wahtched a few RUclips videos and now i thoroughly understand the supreme leader of a great power. Terrific. He did a few good things such as joining the WTO, but even exclude the rumors about Falun gong, what about the Shanghai Clique, the corruption, censorship, the GFW, and the birth control in the 90s (not the one-child policy)... you can search about these online but please promise me do not use youtube or wikipedia as your sources. and as he said, you are indeed "too simple, sometimes naive".
@@blitzl8673 Well, apparently you should know how to read before asking me to search. What I said is 'capable to access to RUclips', not using RUclips as a source. Those 2 sentences make significantly differences.
'Capable to access to RUclips' implies I am not limited to GFW and able to see all the things searchable from Google, including noxious BBC and Falun gong stuff. Your wrong statement already proven you don't know anything about GFW.😂
The things you brought up, including Falun gong, censorship, and GFW, are big topics, and it's hard to put those in a paragraph. But long story short, unlike developed country in North America and western Europe, the unity and stability in developing country is crucial. And those 2 are the foundation of economic growth and better life for people. I'm sorry to middle eastern friends for addressing this way, many middle east countries were functional before 'Arabic Spring' occurred. After 'Arabic Spring', only war and chaos left remain. GFW and censorship prevent those happening.
'Birth control' was the responsibility of municipal government instead of Jiang Zemin. Corruption? 'Rome is not built in a day!' See the anti-corruption in China now. 'Clique' is a double-edge sword, leaders need supporters to comply his act.
Other than those, Jiang Zemin even did more controversial stuff! But many Chinese still respect him. Compared with many western politicians yelling to opposite parties and barely did anything. Jiang dare to make controversial call, made many things happen, and many are proven correct now!
Compared to Jiang, I'm always 'too young too simple, sometimes naive'. Hence, I barely laugh at any act from any countries, regardless how ridiculous it may seem. If I do not care about that country much, at least I would not be a backseat driver.
Finally, 'too young too simple, sometimes naive' was for the reporter trying to set the trap, as well as many backseats driver like you!
@@bittersweet1940 You didn't properly answer any of those questions, I only see ignorance through your words. You are either brazen enough to play dumb and dodge the questions or you have no idea about the things i was referring to, and i am not supprised since he is infamous for press control (and how lazy and arrogant you are). if you are down with the GFW and censorship, why are you still using youtube after all. Please do both of us a favor, just go back to your state-owned media and there won't be annoying people like me; there will only be one voice and we all know you will love what that sounds like. How did i become a "backseat driver"? Do you even understand what does that mean? I am pretty sure we are endowed with rights to discuss, criticize, and CHOSE our own leaders. BTW your first two paragraphs make no sense at all, i am afraid you need to learn both English and reasoning.
I have listed out all my points(also don't forget the great unemployment caused by the reform of state-owned enterprises), but i guess you can't wake a person who doesn't want to be awake. Anyway, that's it, please dont @ me.

Jiang Zemin is as evil as Xi! He rose to power by killing and brainwashing thousands (possibly millions) of innocent people. These innocent people were targeted because they believed in Falun Gong, a very peaceful religion. They targeted Falun Gong because it was more popular in China than Communism, and the Communists knew that they wouldn't be able to control the minds of their people if Falun Gong became more popular. So the communists started a purge. Many Falun Gong believers were captured and had their organs harvested. This is not a joke. This is the truth. Research it. youtube.com/@chinainsights4458
@@arielhernandez1638 Sry heard your mom die.
He will be missed, regardless of his shortcomings
@@silentwater79 is Xi better?
Totally unconnected to him being removed from the CCP conference a few years back, right?
There are some interesting coincidence between the Song Dynasty and the CCP. The 1st emperor of the Song Dynasty died in 976 ad (Mao died in 1976) The 2nd emperor died in 997 ad (Deng died in 1997) and the 3rd died 1022...
Wow
I doubt Hu Jintao will live until 2063, compared to Emperor Renzong of Song
The timing is weird at the least.
Rip you will be remembered
You will not be remembered.
I often see video clips of AB Vajpayee meeting with Jiang Zeming. Great leaders great times
I hope the protesters don't give up. This dictatorship need bringing down
这是中国人民自己的事情,无需境外势力干涉。我们要旗帜鲜明地反对动乱!

@@georgezhao9201 Shut up Wumao. This isn't a Chinese matter at all. You will be next to be slaughtered by the CCP. Defend them more, keep it up
@@georgezhao9201 good luck with the dictator.
Look at you government before blaming others.
The coincidental timing with the protest. I'm sure his death is natural, absolutely natural
Jiang was gangster. I'm not saying that as a compliment. Imagine everything he said with a Sicilian accent.
