  • China's former leader Jiang Zemin, who came to power after the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests, has died aged 96.
One of the major figures of Chinese history in recent decades, he presided over a time where China opened up on a vast scale and saw high-speed growth.
A Chinese Communist Party statement said he died of leukaemia and multiple organ failure.
It added that he was recognised "as an outstanding leader with high prestige" and "a long-tested Communist fighter".

@@blitzl8673 Well, apparently you should know how to read before asking me to search. What I said is 'capable to access to RUclips', not using RUclips as a source. Those 2 sentences make significantly differences.
'Capable to access to RUclips' implies I am not limited to GFW and able to see all the things searchable from Google, including noxious BBC and Falun gong stuff. Your wrong statement already proven you don't know anything about GFW.😂
The things you brought up, including Falun gong, censorship, and GFW, are big topics, and it's hard to put those in a paragraph. But long story short, unlike developed country in North America and western Europe, the unity and stability in developing country is crucial. And those 2 are the foundation of economic growth and better life for people. I'm sorry to middle eastern friends for addressing this way, many middle east countries were functional before 'Arabic Spring' occurred. After 'Arabic Spring', only war and chaos left remain. GFW and censorship prevent those happening.
'Birth control' was the responsibility of municipal government instead of Jiang Zemin. Corruption? 'Rome is not built in a day!' See the anti-corruption in China now. 'Clique' is a double-edge sword, leaders need supporters to comply his act.
Other than those, Jiang Zemin even did more controversial stuff! But many Chinese still respect him. Compared with many western politicians yelling to opposite parties and barely did anything. Jiang dare to make controversial call, made many things happen, and many are proven correct now!
Compared to Jiang, I'm always 'too young too simple, sometimes naive'. Hence, I barely laugh at any act from any countries, regardless how ridiculous it may seem. If I do not care about that country much, at least I would not be a backseat driver.
Finally, 'too young too simple, sometimes naive' was for the reporter trying to set the trap, as well as many backseats driver like you!

Objectively, he and perhaps his successor have made great progress in Chinese economy at the cost of the doomed real estate crash. I do believe Xi is trying his best to reform the economy because the consequence of the crash has become much worse than people thought, but the demand for power and absolute control leaves no room for people to breathe. It's always that the political power comes first before everything else, no matter what they are. Chinese people are much more obedient (partially forced to be), but if they are putting up against the authority it means something has gone seriously wrong. Hope the people will win this time.

Jiang Zemin is as evil as Xi! He rose to power by killing and brainwashing thousands (possibly millions) of innocent people. These innocent people were targeted because they believed in Falun Gong, a very peaceful religion. They targeted Falun Gong because it was more popular in China than Communism, and the Communists knew that they wouldn't be able to control the minds of their people if Falun Gong became more popular. So the communists started a purge. Many Falun Gong believers were captured and had their organs harvested. This is not a joke. This is the truth. Research it. youtube.com/@chinainsights4458

There are some interesting coincidence between the Song Dynasty and the CCP. The 1st emperor of the Song Dynasty died in 976 ad (Mao died in 1976) The 2nd emperor died in 997 ad (Deng died in 1997) and the 3rd died 1022...
