Kay thanks for naming the birds type. The first one what was it, he came again in short while (the light of the day did not change a lot so either it is not the same individual or he decided to leave and come back in few minutes) what was that bird? We don't have in our desert, but we have few varietes and 3 type of dove and common pigion.. I have a big plate like that , terracotta though which is natural colour, though I like the blue one here, but what I hate about this, is pigeons enter inside the plate and dirty it with their dropping some times , I change the water daily (or it dry out completely in the hot summer) .. so I don't know if that hurt other birds if they drink from it with their dropping, plus a bit disgusting to see it, like a little warm (at least it stay together as little worm) Ithink pigion do that because they feel to cool and have the need to do it, but in the place that they drink from!! I thought they would a bit smarter than that.. :)
I bet it's no coincidence that first a female comes and then a male of the same species. Probably a mated pair and one watches the nest while the other drinks. Birds are great parents.
That rock and those birds, the water... God's perfect creations. It is no wonder we are drawn to them for in God is life and we are among His creations.
Our bluebirds went bath crazy this year, they were constantly in the bath. I put a rock in to save the bees and wasps but I believe the smaller birds appreciated it,too. The doves just dive in.
That's me today. I'm getting laid off in 4 days and it took me 6 months to find this job - I'm 61 and not capable of doing "just anything" except my very specific fancy IT job skills... So I'm freaking.. Hope you're better...
I came with the thought that I was definitely not going to watch the “whole 5 minutes” but got to the end and wanted much more. What a lovely and peaceful video. Really gave me joy. Thank you for sharing - and for putting that bath there. ✌️
I always choose a rock that has a portion of it sitting above the water line. That way, bees can also stop and get a needed drink without drowning. If you can't find such a rock, place two rocks, one below the water line and one above.
Yes very important, also if you see a bee struggling on your path or like on my deck, they usually can be saved by getting a saucer and mixing some sugar in a small amount of water and put a few drops in front of the bee, and leave it alone and it will be okay and fly off, usually In really hot weather or if they have had to fly a long way without finding pollen/nectar don’t use honey as it can kill the bee colony as it can have pathogens that will harm that colony as it’s not honey from them, or put them on a flower.
I use a rough broken piece of concrete, it is like a gentle slope pyramid but very textured and grippy rough surface. The top is just sticking out of the water. The birbs love it, because it looks so natural and I guess is really safe for their little birb feet to grip it.
I miss my yard, I had flowers to attract all sorts of birds. A friend of mine had never seen a hummingbird, I always planted red cardinal vine for them. Flowers that produce nectar and seeds for them. Your so lucky to have such a wonderful garden for them. ❤
loved you idea I had a bucket almost full of rocks I had picked up at the beach and had a steady visitor who appeared to be I ever saw enjoying all the colors and designs in the water He was only one ...came several days in a row. Thank you
I find lots of joy watching birds in our bird bath.. my favorite are Robins! They jump in and have a grand old time bathing! Water flies everywhere! And sometimes when they're done, they are so soaked that they struggle to fly off 😂
So lovely and calm. I have a rock in my bird bath (not as deep as this one) for bees and other small creatures. Right against the edge, sloping downwards.
Thank you for posting this very helpful video! I wish I could give it multiple thumbs ups. Now I've got to hunt for a rock that is slightly submerged so that smaller birds will feel comfortable bathing at a shallower level and can even help them ease into the deeper level.
Absolutely, there are rocks in streams and perhaps their eyes aren’t great so the rock helps. I have found the smaller birds actually need it, great idea.👍😁❤️
All birds have pretty great eyesight, they just can't estimate the water's depth when there is too much reflection on the surface. The rock works as a focus point for them.
Wow, beautiful bluebirds! I put three smaller rocks in a group in my birdbath recently, and it made the difference. Now they'll take a bath. I didn't know-but did suspect-that birds couldn't gauge how deep the water was. Thanks for confirming this! Lovely video.
I wonder if using a birdbath with a different color might help? Mines are simple dark green plates you put under flower pots to keep the water from drowling everywhere and even the smaller birds use them to drink and bath
Such beautifully coloured birds! I love all of our birds in the UK but their colours are more earthy somehow. They probably match our often gloomy, rainy weather! So peaceful to watch and listen to. Thank you!
Little thirsty sweet birdies; the one and other of them want to take additionally a little bath. And how many different types of them took a visite. A little bird paradise... 🙂
Some rocks inside the birdbath are always a great add, even insects can climb out of the water, if they accidentally got entangled in a pool party. It's def. a plus! Thank you for this awesome view and natural sounds :)
This is so beautiful. I recently raised a baby magpie I found in a dumpster. Bubba was only two or three days old and he quickly became the axis around which my world revolved. At first I could not interest him in bathing although his bedroom had a small fountain and three shallow bowls. Finally, he edged down my arm and onto my submerged hand to bathe. He was so jubilant at the prospect of our water 'play time' that it became a twice or three time daily routine. Thank you for sharing this sweet footage with us.
How amazing! I also have a large flat-ish green bowl used as a birdbath, with a rock in it! 😯 My rock is a piece of rough broken concrete like a little pyramid, that just comes out of the water so the birdies can sit on it or the edge of the bowl. The absolutely love that birdbath, in the afternoon it is like a busy train station sometimes there are different birb species queued up waiting their turn.
I love watching birds bathe; there’s something very relaxing about it. I get a variety, as well, at my bird bath. One thing that amuses me is every day around 3:00 pm, the titmice, titmouses, titmeese 😂 come to bathe. It’s so regular you could set your watch to them!
I really enjoyed being so close to the birds. Watching them feel secure enough to take a bath is delightful. Once I learned this idea and the birds trusted it, they loved it. But it’s good to know the wildlife of insects, birds and squirrels etc enjoy it. In the much cooler months I bought a water heater to keep the ice off. I can't imagine a bird recognizing a camera as a camera. They are likely thinking 'what is this thing?' or reacting to their own reflection in the lens.

I use really shallow trays as bird waterers. The birds seem to appreciate this. They come, drink, and bathe all the time. I don't have quite the variety you have but I still love to watch them in the waterers.
Funny how they are all drinking from the water before going in. Like they are thinking "I gonna drink BEFORE I wash my butt in it". 😄 But then some of them taste the water and think to themselves "This tastes like ass, I'm outta here" and fly away immediately. 😄

Neonictinoids.. aka insecticides, destroy the bees’ ability to return to their hives; their use must be banned .. no bees no food!
