Hello, finnish person here. You're a bit too early :). Next time I recommend visiting in January-March, much more snow then. I hope you still had a good time here though!
The problem with that is he doesn't want to miss pow days in Colorado one time JB was streaming and I asked him if he would come down to Pennsylvania in later in the season and he said he doesn't want to miss pow back in CO.
The entire time watching this I had to keep telling myself self that this is Finland not somewhere in Pennsylvania, cause it sounded super icy like 90% of the time on resorts in PA. Also seeing him fall and slam on to the ice there really got me. Couple years ago I was just starting to learn on the East Coast (where the conditions are exactly like that in the video, ice under maybe an inch of man-made snow), board slipped out from under me on ice and I slammed into it hard on my chest. Really messed me up for a month or two after.
Such a shame. We went to Levi mid January 2023 and it was pretty magical and unlike anywhere else I've been. Hardly anyone on the slopes, amazing snow; not loads but great and constantly being topped up by a few cm most nights, and the tree's snow/ice encrusted. Riding in the dark with the floodlights was other worldly. The sky colours are amazing (when it wasn't overcast. Super cold too. Pretty much my favourite gentle family riding resort where the distinction between piste/off-piste is totally blurred.
man I hate that for you. and to think how good it is now is crazy. I seen a video of last week and its a winter wonderland. trees just drooping with snow.
It's not that bad for the start of the season seeing as it's still spring, and winter starts on Dec 21. Compared to really bad season EU had last winter.

Ruka usually has great snow, you were unlucky for sure. It also looks amazing end of December to end of March with snow caked trees and lots of snow.
