Great video! Thank you. I have been unable to find the “next video” you refer to about covering windows. The picture you show has the windows covered from the outside. I would like to do this but all the videos I came across are about covering the inside window.

Very nice video! I’m getting ready to do the same thing to a fifth wheel about the same size as yours. We had a house fire so the fifth wheel is our winter living arrangement LOL. Can you tell me, approximately how many 4 x 8 sheets of insulation did you use and approximately how many rolls of the HVAC tape?

Hello, I'll be full-time in my RV. (3years) is the first time I do something like this, you can give me some tips for the installation of water pipes and drainage, a friend said to remove the tanks, you can help me, Thank you!

german vera if your ceiling the bottom of your RV like I did in this video he would only need a small 750 W heater to keep it warm underneath. We were in Bismarck North Dakota when we made this film and we had nice that dropped 30° below zero and we never had a frozen water pipe

Hella late but what I am going to be doing is what he did and putting reflective heat sheets on the inside (like a space blanket or emergency blanket)
It'll keep it toasty without running the propane or electrical bill up (hopefully).

Love the video. I am about to get my first RV and will need to do this as well (Will likely be in Virginia) and one of my my questions is do you not have to vent the skirt insulation? Also I was planning on adding some additional wrapping around my water pipes inside the skirting to keep them from freezing; is that something you do or will be doing? I am going to get the heating wrap for the pipes outside the skirting as well to keep the exposed piping and bibs from freezing. Any suggestions greatly appreciated and keep the videos coming so I can learn from the experts :-)

is there significant pros or cons to wedging it underneath vs. using foil tape to tape the tops of it to the camper and make a little ditch under for the bottom part to rest in

    • @johnball6160
      @johnball6160 4 года назад +1

I dug out a ditch and wedged mine under then used foil tape so the rain flows down and off the skirting instead of daming up has worked great for two years ( this year i enclosed the fifth wheel part for a shed/garage it's where I house the 100lb propane tank

    • @johnball6160

Also if you buy the extreme weather foil tape it has no red writing on it yes it is a few dollars more but it is also wider than the cheaper tape (home Depot)

  • @cjw2661

  • @biggreentruck4907

Man, you spent A LOT of extra time, just to avoid the purchase of another sheet or two. I'd have just bought the extra, and been done with it. I also would have boxed in that bumper (to save time), and done under the 5th wheel, too.
Question: at winters end, what did you do with all that insulation? And, if moving, do you transport the insulation?
This is a great idea, for stationary units. But, it seems a hassle for units that will be moved more than once a year.

    • @derekpoosbug

Putting it underneath your fifth wheel or trailer helps. You'll need to either have a welder come in and put a few bars in or you can drill and install a few bars of steel. Just place it in and glue her into place.
This is what a customer of mine did and she hasn't had any issues (so far)
It'll keep it warm and prevent any tank punctures as you drive.

I wintered in northwestern Montana in 2007/2008, and used hay bales that I covered in heavy black plastic sheeting. It was my first RV winter in a 29 ft fifth wheel. Did great. No mice or other critters. I read in later years that the use of hay bales is discouraged r/t risk of fire. I never had any problem, so I guess I was lucky in my ignorance.

No need to keep saying, "See you in a few minutes, a couple of hours or in a day or two." This is useless in a video seeing that your entire presentation is 15 minutes long. Perhaps mention how long it took you to complete a particular section, but that's more than sufficient. Your presentation is good, however you didn't show how you measured, how you "boxed in" your steps, how you accommodated your black or grey water output, electricity cords, fresh water intake or other important details. And please, don't call everyone "guys."

I live on 500 acres we own. My folks own a very large house I will inherit. There is nothing decent to rent in the area that is cheaper than a mortgage. I spend 48 hours a week minimum away from home for work. Another 24-48 away to spend with my lady since we are about an hour apart. I'm not home enough to justify spending ghe money on a house I'll never be in. Hence a nice 31 ft fifth wheel I can crash in when I am home for privacy. My kids are in college so it's just me. Why the hell would any of that make you say 3rd world? The attitude from many urban folks in this country is ridiculous.
