so happy that this is the corner of the internet where people appreciate episodes like this one. i absolutely loved it. this felt more than Dragonball. such an amazing world building and the ending of this episode just screamed "happy new year" with all those lights almost resembling irl fireworks
Is it just me, or do Daimas pacing and allocation of resources just keeps getting weirder? As a standalone, I absolutely loved the episode. Komaki did an amazing job with the storyboard and really brought this giant world to life o the screen. Goku and gang going on silly little adventures is always fun, and the animators once again put on a feast for all of sakuga fans. In that regard, I had a blast with this episode. In the grand picture, though, it does leave me with some questions. It's odd to see so many legendary names as well as exciting newcomers, I don't want to say being wasted, but being allocated to what we perceive as low priority downturn episode, as well as the overall pacing/structure of the show. We dove straight into Demon Realm 2, huge lore dump and story progression, then the 2 parallel Tamagami fights, and NOW we get some downtime and exploring the world, with such an amazing production? If Daima was 30+ episodes, I wouldn't care nearly as much, but with it only being 20, how much time we spend goofing around in episode 2-7 and episode 12 not being quite what it could have been on paper, it leaves me with some question marks. I guess we just have to see how the rest of it plays out.
I was so confused that this episode looked noticeably nicer than the big Vegeta SS3 episode. Heck, even the episode preceding the SS3 reveal looked better. Very strange resource allocation going on here, but we'll have to wait and see how things play out.
I would've loved more episodes of this to keep digging into Demon World culture and lore but I also like that Daima offers a taste of how big and different it is from what we've seen in Dragon Ball. To inspire our imagination. The sense of wonder and discovery was extraordinary. Beautiful all around.
This felt like a dragon ball ova. The animation was so incredible. And it felt like a silly dragon ball story. i feel bad for everyone who was hoping this would be dragon ball z with fights lasting 50 episodes, im glad we're getting an actual story.
@@TrappyJenkins for me, it really is just the pacing that sometimes kills an episode. In all fairness, though, they’ve been getting better about not making things drag out for too long like how they struggled to do in the first five episodes.
@@shofan0456 felt like the best paced episode in a while, at least compared to the last 2 episodes since i watched the last 3 at once. Being stuck on 2 fights for 2 episodes is probably normal in db but just feels weird pacing wise in daima and neither fight felt as special as the tamagami 3 fight which i felt was perfectly paced. One of the reasons i felt like this episode was well paced is how world building compliments everything, in ep 10 i felt like the constant lore drops just felt like unnatural exposition but here spending time exploring world 2 while being introduced new info feels a lot more natural and more fitting for daima which is an adventure story and i feel its bringing more fantasy elements with recent episodes like this one.
Daima, a show that wants us to remember everything about what makes DB a fan favourite from the fighting, action, the comedy, and the lore is that this also gives us scares and the unknown even when a filler is presented to us, it makes us feel like we only barely learning about the universe or planet that the gang has to figure it out. I been watching DB in the UK on Cartoon Network when i had no information about the manga and fell in love with the actions of DBZ and later on watching and reading DB in my adult years. And at 41, I think that Daima is a combination of some of the best feelings in a long time of waiting for new Dragon Ball in a long time. I did like Super in both manga, TV Shows or Film but it still felt like it could have been more if it wasn't episodic in it Arc. Daima is a reminder of what makes dragon ball a favourite of many people is the feeling of reading or watching TV with excitement and the question it always does which is, how are the heroes going to get out of a tricky situation or how are the bad guys going to be defeated this time around. But anyway this episode is basically a fun yet scary way of exploring the world of the demon world without getting into the final part of Daima story. Also the fact that even they somehow escape from the giant kid and dog, it's just a kid and not even a teenage or adult so that is insane. That is how you make you feel like this was just setup of how crazy the world of the demon is. I can't wait for the next episode and I just wished they only made it available on 1 platform than being on multiple streaming services. Anyway keep doing excellent work on the channel and tell Mark to shower more often because it not a good look. Later
I have the feeling, this episode was not just beautiful, but a tester episode for the next One Piece Season on the Giant’s Elbaf Island Arc. Is not the first time we saw Dragon Ball testing something first and then applying the thing on One Piece. First of all when they test new filters and brushes on the Tournament of Power, then they repeat that move with Wano Kuni Arc on One Piece.
Aya Komaki did such an amazing job with this episode, the background work, the lighting, the colors, everything here is incredible and stunning. Yea last episode's hype was mostly because "omaigad Vegeta ssj3!!!". If he went ssj2 instead the episode would get much less love imo. This episode was objectively way better produced
This was absolutely not a filler episode. The animation and universe building was phenomenal here. We now know the Demon Worlds are positioned one on top of another. I was so surprised to see Kazuya Hisada again on an episode of the Dragon Ball license ! Even if we are far from his prowess of the 90s it made me happy 😁
I thought the episode was incredible. I thought the direction and boarding was awesome, and it was easily my favorite of the second half of the series. I was so disappointed seeing how many people hated it.
After the last episode, i expected this one to be a filler , but boy did was it surprising. Really loved this episode, the animation felt so crisp and different. Now I know why
Did you noticed it too? Maybe it wasnt a plot focused episode or one that could fall in the "filler" category, but my God does background, those colors, the dynamic animation, I have never seen a Dragon Ball episode with a world and backgrounds so alive, I felt something new.
Fantastic looking episode. Original ideas, and a great world. Right into my top 3 favorite episodes. A great episode after the disappointing last episode.

Imagine gaslighting yourself to this point. Stiff and bland exposition, impactless fights… it really is like the title of this video says, it feels like filler, even though it can’t be.

Strangely, this felt very GT to me. Felt that way almost immediately after they crash land on the planet. Just that sense of wonder and exploration from being on a new planet that involved everyone.
9:58 I hope LA will be ok enough to even enjoy the sneak peak. On topic. This is definitely one my favorite episodes in all of Daima so far. It definitely reminds me of early GT too. I'd rank it possibly as #2, with #1 being Goku VS Tamagami 3.
First video if 2025! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt like this episode different. (In a good way.) I enjoy your review for this episode of Dragon Ball Daima, and I can’t wait to see your next video.
Honestly the only thing i found kinda disappointing was the lack o Kuu and Duu. Throughout the last few episodes they were so present that i just don't want any Daima without them anymore...
I really enjoy the love that this episode got from the staff, Dragon Ball is two shows in one: A comedic adventure show and an extreme action show. Daima has been a great blend of both and this episode also really hammers home to me Toriyama's involvement. From what I've heard he very much enjoyed the adventure side of Dragon Ball and his influence can be felt here
I think whether people like or dislike the episode, you gotta give them a lot of credit for putting the incredible quality in terms of animation and animation is not a easy task given how it can take days, weeks or even weeks to finalize it and how the key frames in here are still nothing to sneeze at either!!! 🥲😏
This was visually the most interesting episode as of yet and I still don't know why their staff cycle is so backwards. The most interesting artists and freelancers in moments like this..😆
Directing is how that storyboard is brought to life: so things like colour work, lighting, working with the music director to pick out tracks, talking to the animators to plan out how best to execute the board etc
shouldn’t be odd He’s nothing but beneficial when it involves quick key animation and corrections, especially when Toei isn’t working him to death without giving him or the others any sort of proper schedule. @@ThisHandleSystemCanGetNicked
this show is getting on my nerves, crazy sakuga scenes in throwaway episodes, while "important" episodes look just okay, plus the story is just awful with an awful pacing.
I thought this episode was great because it had a strong execution when it came to presentation and I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen I know people hate the more slice of life episodes but seeing Bulma and Panzy interact when working on the ship was amazing to see since character interactions will slow down when the action really starts in the 1st demon world
In such a great and lively episode, my only gripe - with the whole series actually - is the constant camera/de-focus trick they keep using. It can work from time to time, but seeing it three or four times each and every episode makes it feel cheap imho. I don't know if this sentiment is shared or I'm just being too dramatic. Anyway, what a joy this episode was!
i really liked that episode, it reminds me of one of the few gt episodes that i liked, and it harkens back to Akira Toryiama's concept arts for GT. Also reminds me of a certain adventure time episode that i like. The only thing i would change would be the soundtrack, i wish it was as good as the animation
Animation was very good, very nice to see. I'm still very worried about this show's pace, because as cool as everything LOOKED in this episode, it was ultimately very much a "nothing happened" kinda episode. Just 20 minutes of pretty nice animation, but little else.
Best episode yet feels a little crazy when Goku Vs Tamagami 3 exists. It looked great but I don't think it ever reached the peak of (I believe it was) 7
Probably the wrong place for this but I've been thinking about fixing the pace in this one. Warp sama shut down. The group discover it and then they stop and need to figure out their next steps. Mega island is the only place even close to the sealed gate without going days out of their way because of the Kraken water. After landing have the group hide because of "nebulous threat" and the hamsters then the episode ends just as they hear the big footsteps on a "what is that?" This gives them a reason to stop that isn't another breakdown, you still get the fun times and can do bonding time say Panzy and Bulma work on the ship to PREVENT a breakdown while shin and Gliro figure out their plan. Put the giant stuff at the START of the next episode and make it feel like the plot has advanced. Yes it looks really good. But overall? 6/10 episode.
Not gonna lie I got up today earlier than usual so by the time I got to watch this episode at night, the plot in this episode actually make me sleepy (It was extremely boring). But I'm happy some people enjoy it.
Honestly, the most I've truly enjoyed dragon ball in a while. I really hope dragon ball doesn't end up stagnant after this. But I've seen dragon ball without toriyama before and I'm not a big fan.
I bet Hisada’s uncorrected art looked like this ruclips.net/video/MMzmH9Yih_I/видео.htmlsi=EvepAGtj5WQqD_4p (This opening was supervised by Masahiro Shimanuki, whose art style changed as a result of working on One Piece for 6 years)
Best looking maybe, but I felt this couldve been better written and better animated. ( More fluidly instead of skipping frames to portrait a heavy character. ) Too much Goku in Base instead of finishing business and that mechanical animation ( Skipping frames ) was all over the place. Hisada's part was great, but it doesnt automatically make the whole episode great. I still think episode 1 has the best of everything.
Dude is explained in the episode itself that they don't wanna hurt this creatures, just wanna repair the ship and leave. Why would Goku even go super saiyan the first second he encounters random creatures? he only transformed coz his life was actually being threatened and even then he didn't hurt anyone, this was only a boy and his dog and a couple of random animals. Btw wdym with "mechanical animation"?
@@matisebas4554 No one said hurt them, just finishing business. This episode dragged out a simple conflict that could have been solved immediately if Goku and Vegeta used even 10% of their power. It was forced drama since there was never any threat, making the entire exchange feel boring.
@@IsaMariaUuMaybe, but even Ssj2 Goku wasn't doing much to him so I don't know if it could have been solved immediately. And again, they didn't want to beat the shit out of a little kid if they would have been able to in Ssj3 lmao. I also enjoyed it as fun world building/ calm before the storm episode, that also really dives into Goku's wonder and excitement at the prospect of people being stronger than him
@@matisebas4554Mechanical as the Yamamuro Vegeta beams part. I thought it was Karasawa. He didnt want to hurt someone that can make Goku SS struggle with a ruler?
Update: unsurprisingly the LA event has been cancelled

i really liked that episode, it reminds me of one of the few gt episodes that i liked, and it harkens back to Akira Toryiama's concept arts for GT.
After landing have the group hide because of "nebulous threat" and the hamsters then the episode ends just as they hear the big footsteps on a "what is that?"
This gives them a reason to stop that isn't another breakdown, you still get the fun times and can do bonding time say Panzy and Bulma work on the ship to PREVENT a breakdown while shin and Gliro figure out their plan. Put the giant stuff at the START of the next episode and make it feel like the plot has advanced.
Yes it looks really good. But overall? 6/10 episode.
Felt like a spin off of a spin off 😂 looked nice but weird placement after the plot started moving forward.
Man they need to bring some of those op animators to db op have most of the studio to itself it feel like 🤣
2nd cour and we still don't have a big sabunga episode
10:16 fin.
It's chill episode 🤷♂️ I still enjoyed it
Probably my main issue with Daima is how the episodes just...end. No coda, so to speak.
the animation might have been great, but apart from the scene where Glorio calls Arinsu the story doesn't progress at all
Not gonna lie I got up today earlier than usual so by the time I got to watch this episode at night, the plot in this episode actually make me sleepy (It was extremely boring). But I'm happy some people enjoy it.
Looks good but it was a pretty meh filler episode ultimately
Honestly, the most I've truly enjoyed dragon ball in a while. I really hope dragon ball doesn't end up stagnant after this. But I've seen dragon ball without toriyama before and I'm not a big fan.
I don't know about best looking, let's not forget about 1, 2 and 8.
1 and especially 2 don't hold a candle to this. 8 is definitely the best *animated* but it's not as cohesive and interesting as this.

I knew I recognized that signature Lego hair, definitely made me notice the style difference 😂
I kinda stopped watching because of what you talk about here. I felt the world around the characters was kinda stale but this really sounds good.
I loved this episode lol. Don’t really understand the “filler” complaints at all.
I bet Hisada’s uncorrected art looked like this
ruclips.net/video/MMzmH9Yih_I/видео.htmlsi=EvepAGtj5WQqD_4p
(This opening was supervised by Masahiro Shimanuki, whose art style changed as a result of working on One Piece for 6 years)
its goku vs the tamagi number 3 was the best
@@thedirkiestdigg4050Calm, when the Namekian rushed them to hurry up.
I enjoyed this episode, but its episode placement is a bit odd. A total pack killer, which ashame. Fun episode, though.
hated this episode ill be real, it was slow and clunky
This episode proves that good animation can't save a boring plot.
Yea the show is garbage
