This is so much better than all the other unreal engine renders that are overly glossy, full of weird lighting, and look completely out of place with the real style of Ocarina of Time. You hit the nail on the head with this one.
@@kylecresswell0478 I don't see what you're saying about the Cryzenx remake. It's anything but bland. I can agree that it's unpolished in some parts, but that's because it's still unfinished.

I'd love to see an OoT remake that looks exactly like Yusuke Nakano's artwork for the game- not just the characters, the whole game looking like a 2D animation that plays in 3D. I've seen plenty of high-res 3D versions of OoT Link already.
This is why I (and I bet so many others) love what you guys do! It's never just a "hyper-realistic" version of the original, but you put so much care and thought in every single small detail. Can't wait to see more! Love it!
With remakes on RUclips there's almost always some aspect that looks amateurish, like they're obviously leveraging some advanced modern tech but you can tell that the person who made it isn't really a professional - either something's wrong with the color scheme, or the lightening, or the animations just look bad ... But man, the guy nailed that Temple of Time scene here ! It legit looks like something I would actually be happy to see in a full priced AAA modern video game.
I dig the filter used when showing footage from games that were released in the heyday of CRTs. When talking about the visual vibes of these games, the equipment they were designed on/for is an important factor.
This video caught my eye and maintained my interest throughout, not just because if the "remake" aspect but because there's so much love and carefully paid attention to some of the design elements and graphical effects that truly captivated my mind as a child and still beholds it in wondrous awe today at age 34. I've always been entranced by the finer details and vibrant color palette the game has on display. I used to go into the Potion Shop for example, select an item off the shelf, and marvel at the glow and sheen of whatever was before my eyes as it was presented with a more up-close look. The Fairy in a bottle radiating as it floated about, the embers of the Blue Fire softly flickering, even watching the metallic items like the Hylian and Mirror Shields and the powerfully satisfying Megaton Hammer catching light as they hovered over Link's raised hands always made me smile. Gorgeous sunsets as a day in Hyrule Field drew to a close, the crackling firelight dancing in the Castle's adorning wall torches, and casting a mighty Din's Fire spell over a group of spawning Stalchildren ready to attack just felt so rightfully nostalgic. When I wasn't playing the game itself, I'd casually flip through the instruction manual or the Prima game guide to revel in the gorgeous official artworks of characters and key assets such as weaponry or spells that made me appreciate the charm Nintendo's team truly brought for gamers' eyes to feast on. I remember doodling such things on loose-leaf paper at school and hanging a crudely drawn picture I had illustrated featuring a collage of items found in the game. Ocarina of Time may be showing its age these days but it's a timeless classic that continues to fuel my imagination and capture my heart all these years later. It'll always be one of my topmost favorite games of all time. ❤
This looks amazing! Most well-thought out renders I've seen of OoT to date when it comes to respecting the source material as a top priority. This is definitely a "no corners cut" project, which I'm all for. I remember watching your Bomberman Hero videos many years ago, and although I would have loved to see more of that project come to fruition, I'm extremely excited to see where this project goes. Maybe our dream of seeing a faithfully recreated Ocarina of Time in HD could finally come true. Fantastic work so far!!
That intro looked too good to be true. I literally couldn't believe my eyes. I really want to see an official Ocarina of Time remake, and I want to see it look like that.
This is just... beautiful, and ocarina of time link is my favorite, his design is like what I mostly think of when I think of link And his story is really sad, and his voice is iconic bruh I really wish we got a full HD version of ocarina I know we got the 3ds one but still I want something like this
Love this! Great homage to one of the best games of all time - love the process and how you paid great tribute to the concept art/visual language for the game! Too many re-interpretations feel off/bit too "shiny" - this feels very much like how we imagined the Temple of Time & Adult Link back in 1998!
For some weird reason, I've completely settled with the 3DS remaster of OOT. But after seeing all of this in motion I want a fully blown remake more than anything! Well, maybe Mother 3 first, but still! - Zion
Seeing Prism's Link in motion is a delight. I concur, the discrepancies between the artwork and the in-game model increase each time one tries to analyse them. :D
Finally, some fan project that respect the original look of the game. Other projects just put a lot of effects, light and high quality textures and it feel wrong to the original aesthetic.
Even if there’s already a 3D Remake on 3DS, I really hope there’s a HD Remake in the next console for succeeding to the Switch. Happy 25th anniversary Ocarina Of Time! 🤩
@@Tr4ns1st0r I know right, graphics on 3DS games have improved but they aren’t considered as HD. And now 11 years later, Luigi’s Mansion 2 yes same title as in Europe and Japan will have the HD Remake and I can’t wait to play again on Switch which will be easier than on a portable console.
How would you two try define re-releases of video games by the terms that actually describe them and not the terms that Publishers use to sell them. A guy called Lextorias made a video titled “Why Do We Keep Remaking Games” that helped me understand the difference between the terms of game releases and I wanted to hear your take on the matter?
if those scene of link in the time of time was render in unreal engine 5 - then it has the best light effect ever, since it doesn't bleach out the green on link's tunic. also very impressive indeed.
Amazing work! I can agree that the hair could use some more work. Not sure the ultra realistic choice matches too well. I reckon Overwatch has a nice mix of stylized and realistic hair, could be a good ref. Other than that it's quite spot on and I love how you really wanted to stay true to the original concepts and illustrations. Something I wish they would have done for the Final Fantasy 7 remake too. Either way, at least we get lovely fan projects like these to imagine what it could be like. Memoria project is another amazing example. I'd love to be involved in something like this some time. I mostly do environment art but could be cool to contribute. :)
this is beautiful I wish we had people like you behind so many remakes. And systems powerful enough to bring these to many players. my 1 little gripe about your oot art style link. His hylian shield is too rocky looking. The blue part of his shield is like so... cratery, too many little pock marks, I get that its not supposed to perfect, but I imagined the shield is metal, and painted. The blue material part looks like wood or rocks, just dont look right to real, painted iron/steel.
I have no words. What work! A suggestion for a future video or shorts: An exhibition of this in another Temple. I actually need to see this dark! Light and shadow of a more frightening environment.
Wow, I'm just watching this now and it's an amazing video. I'm actually so pleased to see that there are peeps out there that're just as enthused as I am with this Link's art and design. Can't begin to fathom how good this would look in a complete game, holy crap!
In terms of art animation and games related channels curiomatic is my favorite by far and it’s not even close great job guys I really loved the structure of this one
Finally an unreal engine ocarina of time engine that actually looks good. That aside, it is awesome to see these models that depict the artstyle in high fidelity graphics. Incredible. Seeing as you used ff7r as reference, I believe a remake of OoT should be in that vain of remakes. A recreation of everything, including gameplay. I don’t necessarily want the same game, they already did it on the 3ds. I want more, something that expands and adds from the original while maintaining the core essence of OoT.
This is the best and most faithful rendition I’ve seen for the depiction of Link in OOT. If there ever is a genuine remake. I hope they use this design for the game. Very well done 👍🏼
Hyrule in Ocarina of Time was roughly as big as Universal Studios. (About 1 square kilometer altoghether, with half of its space being temples and dungeons)
It looks great! My favorite is the shot of hin playing ocarina. It's goreous. I think the sloping fold at the top of the hair is what needs the most work for the hair. It looks the glossy and geometric. I think the face could be a bit darker as well (it's probably related the hair shaders), or more deeply defined. And overall, it's rather too bright for me. I know the colours are to match the official artwork, but that art exists in a different environment. If the contrasting areas were toned down to make a more subtle kind of vibrancy, or somehow arranged to blend with each other better, I think it would be more pleasant to look at. Or, perhaps, more contrast on the materials in themselves.
Crazy, last night I literally had a dream they announced a full remake of OOT for the next console. Regardless that’s something I genuinely believe will happen, at the very least for the 30th anniversary in 2028
Amazing work! For me personally it sometimes looks too realistic and thus it's a little bit "uncanny valley". I just saw the OoT x Studio Ghibli Castle Town fan film which is a cel shaded OoT remake. I think that better conveys the feeling of OoT. Still the time and efforts put in this very clean UE5 remake is remarkable - keep going!
Actually, no. Because when we see the colors and the lightnings in the original, plus one of the concept arts of Ocarina of Time and the work on the proportions in the illustrations, we can see that they wanted to create a game visually near or even who tend sometimes in the dark fantasy.
It is a great model and cool animations but there’s just one mistake, and that is the length of the master sword and scabbard, it is too long. Link’s master sword before Twilight Princess was shorter. When Link puts away his sword and shield and you look at him from the back you will see the difference if you compare it with how Melee Link and Soul Calibur 2 Link look in that same position. You might think it’s an unimportant detail however as a fan that grew up with Melee I can certainly say that that is essential to OoT Link. Making the sword longer like in TP would be like removing the upside down triangle of his shield, you take away it’s unique look. It’s just a constructive criticism, I support you guys, everything looks great.
I love ocarina of time, first Zelda game I’ve ever played but how come twilight princess doesn’t get the same love with these fan remakes or majoras mask 😭
