Hello! I play a build similar to this. A suggestion to get the most out of ice gauntlet while still pumping your stats into focus is slot your gauntlet with an Amber gem. This will allow a certain percentage of the gauntlets states (based on the gems tier) to pull from Focus. This will allow you to get a little more dps out of the gauntlet even if that’s not its main use.
@@gabrieldagosto6843 all conversion gems are bugged at the moment and are not scaling properly. Really sucks because I would love to try out this build
It really sucks to see that people recommend running Amber gems. Amber gem does not increase your damage done, it halves your base weapon damage and instead gives half or less back as nature damage, the FOC stat is then counted as a secondary stat, and secondary stats does not increase damage more than primary stat for your selected weapon of choice. All in all, a INT weapon will benefit way more from 50-80 points into INT, rather than all points into FOC. Same goes for strength weapons and dex weapons too. Don't get fooled by the description of the INT/FOC gems, they are incorrect and being spread around as the truth.
Finally the most decent healer build with Ice Gauntlet, and very well detailed and explained! Thanks for the video! Been waiting for this since the launch day
I use a similar build but use light embrace as my single target heal as it comes off cooldown a lot quicker and generally heals more because of the buffs everyone has. As a secondary, I'll use ice gauntlet in expeditions but for main world I'll use either spear or great hammer for CC use or hatchet depending on if I'm playing with others or solo. For group PvP, if there are a number of other healers, sometimes i'll throw hammer on to help with CC and be more of a support rather than dedicated healer. Overall, great fun!! :D
We wiped on Amrine 3x my first time because I had totally wrong build and settings. Plus, its my first mmo. This video helped me a lot as a new player with good info and seeing what I was doing wrong. Thank you so much :D

Light's Embrace is the correct single-target heal to grab as it's instant-cast, costs less mana, and has a smaller (faster) cooldown. Other than that, pretty good
just threw together whatever i could find of gear and did a few amrine runs with it. managed to keep party alive and quickly got full focus gear. it amazes me how much damage you deal alongside the healing
Only to ghosts and apparitions. Rest has a ton of resists to nature dmg. Nature dmg is top dog against those types of enemies. So that is why it feels like we do a ton of dmg. In pvp and upper dungeons, especially angry earth, you will see the dmg be mostly blue.
I'm waiting in an 800 queue, but it's going fast, and was down to 200 in about 40-50 minutes. I play overnight, all night, and decided to watch some videos while waiting. I was watching the "big named streamers" and saw this video on the side, and I was like "Yep, that's me, Life Staff and Ice Gauntlet, until Void comes out." I've been playing MMOs for 18 years, since Final Fantasy 11 came out in March 2003, and I play "Mage only jobs". Sometimes Healer, Black Mage, but in both FF MMOs, Summoner was my main job. In New World, I didn't want to be a main healer this time, but a SELF Healer, and at the end of your video, I was like, "Oh, I disagree there"! Lol, I'm Level 27 and about 85ish Intelligence so far, and zero in Focus, since I'm only concerned about self healing and doing more damage with Ice. I haven't done Amrine yet, I'm more of a hardcore crafter, and 53 in Fishing so far, and I hope no one says anything about me having Life Staff but refusing to be main healer, and them complaining I don't use 2 offensive weapons like Fire Staff.
Excellent guide, many thanks! I have one small suggestion/request. Some players may not get all they could out of it if they don't have relevant WOW experience (me for example;). When you make a comparison to WOW, perhaps describe the WOW ability you are comparing to just a bit more?
I have been running the Warhammer as my support/backup weapon for the CC and burst damage for solo play. This video gave me insight into a viable group build that could be very effective.
i would run war hammer if adds were starting to focus me so i would stun nd use the clear out ability nd get back to healing.. war hammer is super underrated imo
On Life staff this is a great build. I do have a tweak to build that I use instead. I drop revitalize and intensify. Yes it’s a 3 stack 30 second 10% heal with three stacks. My suggestion and what I use is protectors touch that keeps a fortify buff on you at all times. Then protectors STR which increases healing by 10% for having a buff on yourself. I know this means 5% more wait time for heals but think this works out a little better.
You seem to misunderstand Revitalise. Each light attack you land on an enemy will reduce your active cooldowns by 5% of the total cooldown. So it is not just a 5% reduction.
Great video. Only thing I would disagree with is the scroll wheel change target, You can over scroll and miss your choice sometimes. I found with Q and E for choose target up or down to be better but it is preference. I have also been using the Spear for secondary for CC skills.
as long as youre light armor nobody should be able to catch you if youre rolling with weapon swap animation cancelling. save ice block for gravity well.
I just use a hammer and stun the shit out of them and my melee guy's mop them up VERY quickly I also get pretty solid damage reduction and my armor is medium for more survivability I can deal with at least 3~4 dudes on me if they zerg me at the same time but I usually stay closeish to my melee bois incase some flanking boi wants to get froggy.
In heavy I've successful tanked 5 (even far more briefly) melee on me at once. I personally use hammer to cc and lights embrace as my burst heal because of its lack of cast time but even with his weapon and ability suggestions here heavy makes for a very tanky pvp healer.
@@benoithenard5064 it is actually quite good, since you will not be using gauntlet all that often other than in initiation and slight healing downtime. There there is no other passive that is good enough to substitute this one anyway. Gauntlet is not your main weapon, it is a stat stick(make sure it has Focus or Focus/Con on it) with super defensive cooldown, and additional mana recovery potentials/debuffs.
I like to use burst healing. I dodge roll, use 3 heavy attack and then use sacred ground and Splash of healing. I'm about to heal for a lot. 200-260 per second with SG and 300-430 with SOH
Don't forget the underrated combo of passives in the protection tree. Gain protection on any attack + if you have a buff heal for 10% more + extend all buffs by 20%
Hi! Im a new Healer from Chile, Wich gem do you recomend for the secondary? Amber gem for the Gauntlet? Any other weapon recommended like the Rapier? And the armor weight, wich one do you recommend?
Think most big boy healers are going medium armour gives a good balance between survivability and +healing. Whilst levelling I love the light armour rolls/animation cancel to get around fast so iv stuck with light armour for now
personally i took the heal on the protector side which did way more healing for me early on when i was running amrine with friends compared to the left side heal. It could have been i just didn't optimize my build because it was so early on and wasn't really leveled just yet but we were able to pass that dungeon after i swapped skills to that heal. It has no cast time like the other and the heal just seemed better even with just one buff on, but on a better note that life staff looks insane
So, about the targeted lock and such. This is good to have on for dungeons and 6 man content. This will drive you absolutely insane in wars, invasions, and bit open world content as it tends to only target your personal party, rather than the entire army group and you'll find yourself having trouble getting a heal off onto someone that's not part of our party. In short. Targeted Heals ON for smaller 6 man stuff. OFF for larger raid-like stuff.
I can 100% agree on this. sometimes even in a expedition its a pain to scroll wheel to find the right target.. I tend to have to move close to who I want to heal just to find them quicker off the cuff.
Ive been using the hatchet/bow for pve seems really good rn and Hatchet/musket/great axe for pvp. the hatchet/greataxe combo is so nice you take the ability Gravity well from greataxe and pair it with the 2 melee abitlies from the first hatchet tree and people cant run from your attacks and the self healing from the hatchet is super good and the greataxe also has a charge for mobility. if you could make a video with a in depth guide to a hatcet/greataxe build that would be awesome
@@Wombat86dkdk only if the target has buffs, early game your target will have 1 maybe 2 buffs which won't make that heal stronger, secondly you shouldn't ever really need to be using that heal or the other one if built properly stat wise, I did amrine excavation only needing to using the both are heals and hardly ran out of mana.
Same here, I don't like the divine embrace healing because it has a cast time, the one in protector tree doesn't have a cast time, and less cooldown too.
@@cripnikka86 that is true it doesn't have a cast time, but I don't use divine embrace cause all my party members are topped off from sacred ground/beacon with my light attacks. And that with a 2/1 split on stats if you allocate them into int/foc

Great guide but people don’t seem to include how does it play when your alone questing. Is it beacon and auto attack light forever ? Or is the gauntlet our go to? I feel like with all the focus it’s gonna be the light staff and might play painfully slow alone.
You use hatchet socketed with an amber gem when doing solo or duo content. Ice gauntlet for anything larger again socket with amber gem to make it dmg using a percent of your focus stat
@@alfonce7613 Is there a similar gem for Con stacking tanks with low STR. Get that hatchet dmg to scale off Con. Im guessing no as its a health pool stat. Thanks.
This is the absolute best healer guide out there so far. This was hugely helpful. 🤙🏻 How do you feel about the middle spell on the right tree instead of the very first single target Spell you took on the left, on the Life Staff? It gives bonus healing for each buff on a player, which to my understanding the AOE healing does as well as buffs they put on themselves (food, etc).
That’s why I use as well. I enjoy it and it has a nice CD for you to spam. The more focus you get the more it will heal. Not to mention all the bonus healing you can get.
I'm 47 and use sacred ground, orb of protection and light's embrace, light's embrace is way better in pve than the other solo heal. Orb of protection is insane, especially in war if you take all the passive associated with it. Also i'm really suprised he didnt pick the passive that give you 10% more healing when you have a buff, wich is all the time. I'm not really convinced about his build. It might work early but for dungeon 45+ i think it will be less performing than other variants
@@Ryuhikuro I can agree with Lights Embrace, and Orb of protection I was using to level mainly for the dps boost, but I feel like Beacon is just way to strong especially in pvp to pass up, and Sacred ground seems like a must regardless. The fact that you can hit an enemy’s field it locks onto them at the same time healing all your melee also attacking him, paired with blissful touch ( 20% heals for every light attack) really let’s put some solid cleave and air heals. With that being said I’m going to try your build for a few and compare.
@@Ryuhikuro Light's embrace is good but in Commander Thorpe's dungeon you want divine embrace because you will have mulitple people that end up being low and in the off chance you don't have your 2 big HoTs up then you just lost 2 party members, that dungeon can be a real shit show even for those that have cleared it, I'd say it's the most annoying one to deal with for healers and tanks. Now I would argue that if 1 party member was off healing then stick with your build 100% specially for that dungeon everywhere else the build works fine. As for Vulkan's build, it'll work anywhere just not well in Thorpe's dungeon, there would need to be swaps made to certain talent points.
Love this build; been carrying n maining it since Lvl 1 :) One Q tho; which gear class/perk?/item class bonus do you reccomend for the ice gauntlet? Also of the Priest/Cleric? Trying to decide on one that syncs with focus and or this guide. Appreciate the help!
I've been running a version of this just for questing and whatnot but with more focus on Int for gauntlet damage. It's kinda disgusting for AoE farming, you can grab 5-10 enemies, put sacred ground on your ice storm, then ice tomb until the mobs are around 50% then explode it for huge XP drops.
Yep I need to reset my stats now thank you fir the info any recommendations for weapons level farming to get the level up for the ice gauntlet and the life staff.
Spec focus and take Orb from the Protection tree. Low cooldown and hits really hard. A lot of mobs are weak to nature damage as well so you'll burn through anything within your level range.
Would this build (including the secondary weapon) be viable for (solo) leveling? I'll be leveling solo, but want to do dungeons as full healer when possible.
Yes I am doing this now and it works well. Most mobs you will fight during soloing are susceptible to nature damage and your light/heavy attacks with the staff are free with appropriate spec. If you keep your staff up to date leveling isn't bad.
@@Boergen78 I put my point into focus mostly. The goal is to get my constitution to 50 and every other point into focus. I started out putting point into focus to get myself to 50 then started working on constitution to get it to 50.
So, does it matter if i use light, medium or heavy gear? assuming they all have the stats i want. like im assuming youd get more armor for heavy gear, but than you cant roll. does that really matter?
What about armor though, light/medium/heavy? Life staff bonus to healing after dodge is awesome but the dodge is really just a sideways hop with heavy armor..Can't decide.
@@GregoryPickettGamerPoet Yeah and my experience from PVP is that even the chunkiest heavy armor tanks get to me too easy. The build in this video is awesome for pve dungeons though!
I appreciate the video, it’s a little different opinion which I like than some other Reddit posts ive read. What I’m curious is what type of sr or are you using,
That is what I was thinking. A IG is good with a group set up because its debuffs and aiding in Mana Regen but as a solo player, You need somethin that can throw DPS when you need it. So Hatchet, Great Axe, and to a lesser extent Sword and Shield I have heard are great for that.
Im pretty early in this build currently (only lvl 25) and my gauntlets have a slot for a gem but the staff doesnt. Should i still be putting a diamond into the gauntlets? Or will it not work that way because il have the staff out while healing
For your next build - can you super impose numbers next to the nodes in the order we should take them? One screen is so much easier to came back to.

How do you feel about the middle spell on the right tree instead of the very first single target Spell you took on the left, on the Life Staff?
@@Ryuhikuro You could easily move the point from Intensify to Protectors Strength if you wanted...
what is the best weight to use? is it just dealers choice
Love this build; been carrying n maining it since Lvl 1 :)
One Q tho; which gear class/perk?/item class bonus do you reccomend for the ice gauntlet? Also of the Priest/Cleric? Trying to decide on one that syncs with focus and or this guide.
Appreciate the help!
Very help full keep it going
Wish you would post the webpage link to your build, while I like watching the video I would prefer to be able to reference the new world fans link
Hey Vulkan, again an awesome video! Looking forward for a tank build next! how about SnB + Life Staff??
Decided to try the game... Downloading now.

@@BloodyVoltt brand new 1 hr old 3070 FTW Ultra black screen of death thanks to New World....my luck!
Did you go from level 1 60 in a group so your damage was not important or did you have a different set of builds whilst leveling life staff?
would want to know fhis too
Thanks for this. I was using this set up But for soloing
Great vid. Thanks
Maybe I missed it but should you be wearing heavy, medium or light armor?
Based on the dodge used in the video, he is using Light armor.
I’m going full healing, thanks for the great video it healed a lot. Question as a healer what is the best gear to wear in game?
Hey do you have any plans on making a Great Axe / Hatchet video? Thanks!
Dude what armor is that? And how can it work for focus and intelligence?
in the early game should I use heavy or medium armour?
Hold up. Did I miss it or did you not talk about which Armor Weight class is best for this build?
Thanks for this Build 👍
for the moment im using life staff and a spear im usualy playing alone and i like the combo and the playstyle :)
Taki I think 7

Yep I need to reset my stats now thank you fir the info any recommendations for weapons level farming to get the level up for the ice gauntlet and the life staff.
Elite Areas.
ok this build is good for groups but how am i supposed to questing and soloing?
Switch for sword or hatchet when soloing
Which armor do you recommend ?
A resto shaman main this was super useful, thanks man. Stolen.
Also subbed.
hello what are your full concentration characteristics?
Thank you for the vid
Oh this is a nice build. Thanks
do you still reccomend this build even with the issues with the pylon?
How do you level up with the healer? Is soling possilbe or do you need a group all the time?
Spec focus and take Orb from the Protection tree. Low cooldown and hits really hard. A lot of mobs are weak to nature damage as well so you'll burn through anything within your level range.
Will arboreal 1 increase the ice gauntlets damage? (Since it changes the base stat from int to focus)
@@brianh2287 Thanks, how do you distribute your attributes during leveling? Int for the gauntlet or focus for the staff?
@@Boergen78 I put my point into focus mostly. The goal is to get my constitution to 50 and every other point into focus. I started out putting point into focus to get myself to 50 then started working on constitution to get it to 50.
@@brianh2287 Thanks, that is what I wanted to go for myself.
Go with a hatchet with an amber gem socketed as your secondary weapon can take on 6-8 mobs your level and come away with full hp it's pretty nice
Did you say that ice gauntlet passives are active when using life staff ? Or I misunderstand
i would like to know this too because 3 consecutive light attacks regain mana is great but don't the ice gauntlet's light attacks also cost mana?
@@bwucewee1502 ice gauntlet passives are not active when using the life staff if you are thinking of the consecutive hits
do u recommend the amber gem for the ice gauntlet?
You should link the build in the description
So, does it matter if i use light, medium or heavy gear? assuming they all have the stats i want. like im assuming youd get more armor for heavy gear, but than you cant roll. does that really matter?
Great video thank you
How is this at solo content outside dungeons? I'll probably do mostly group content but I'm just curious.
What about armor though, light/medium/heavy? Life staff bonus to healing after dodge is awesome but the dodge is really just a sideways hop with heavy armor..Can't decide.
I'd like to know this as well. People in game and on reddit are all over the place and I can't decide one over the other.
@@GregoryPickettGamerPoet Yeah and my experience from PVP is that even the chunkiest heavy armor tanks get to me too easy. The build in this video is awesome for pve dungeons though!
Im currently running lifestaff/ hatchet for leveling
thinking of making some kind of paladin ish healer , so plate with staff but rest like second weap I need to think about
let me know what u end up using
What would be the minimum Life Staff level to attempt to heal the first dungeon?
Been thinking about doing this but do you not run into mana problems with both weapons requiring it?
What kind of armour should I use? Light medium or heavy?
I've been playing with medium as it give a good balance of protection and dodge.
You suggest taking the Privilege talent, but that requires Divine Embrace which isn't in the build
I appreciate the video, it’s a little different opinion which I like than some other Reddit posts ive read.
What I’m curious is what type of sr or are you using,
I use ice gauntlet for group content due to the debuff to enemies under 50% hp and use hatchet for solo play.
That is what I was thinking. A IG is good with a group set up because its debuffs and aiding in Mana Regen but as a solo player, You need somethin that can throw DPS when you need it. So Hatchet, Great Axe, and to a lesser extent Sword and Shield I have heard are great for that.
Do you gain from the ice gauntlet "gathering storm" even with light attack's from the life staff?
no
Vulkan what are the biggest EU unofficial pvp servers?
Im pretty early in this build currently (only lvl 25) and my gauntlets have a slot for a gem but the staff doesnt. Should i still be putting a diamond into the gauntlets? Or will it not work that way because il have the staff out while healing
Amber gem for gauntlet
heavy or medium gear?
Loved the vid! but can you make a tank build next?
