    Finally I have found someone who can explain the difference between the lenses. I also like how the 2X lens makes the photo look more real then a .5 lens it to me looks like it’s a little distorted. Thanks for this little class.

    Excellent teaching! Clear, concise, gently repetitive for memory’s sake, medial and final summaries. Your explanation of the lenses and what they do was exactly what I was looking for. Having taught many things myself over the years, it’s always a pleasure to discover an excellent teacher. Not sure where you are located, but glad you landed in the USA.

    Your iPhone photos are gorgeous. I am happy I found your RUclips channel about how to take photos using iPhone. 3-2021 I have an iPhone 8. I have a Canon 5D Mark II also. I think my iPhone 8 captures the sky way better than my 5D Mark II but my 5D Mark II has better bokeh as compared to my iPhone 8. My 5D Mark II camera's sky photos are usually blown out as my iPhone 8 captures the dynamic range in clarity of the sky. I prefer my iPhone 8 for landscape and scenery and I prefer my 5D Mark II for everything else, like macro flower n foliage photos. I mainly photograph still life as a hobby.

    How can I get a experinece which similiar using 2x lens without 2x telephoto lens? Does is it work that if I manually digitally zoom to 2x. will be the tower get closer and less quality closing?

    • @iPhone_Photography_School

      That's right, the tower will get closer as you zoom in, but the quality of your image will decrease due to the digital zoom.

    I’m trying to learn how to take the best picture of the Statue of Liberty from far away. It sounds like I should use the 2x but not zoom in digitally at all. Will this work if I get in the picture in the foreground? It seems sort of like the building in your photos.

    • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  2 года назад

      We recommend using the telephoto lens (2x or 3x) to capture the statue of liberty in the distance. The compression of the lens will make it look closer. You can definitely experiment getting into the picture! I am sure you will get a great shot! :)

    How effective is iPhone 2x telephoto lens for sunset/sunrise and sometimes full moon photography?
    I want Sun/moon bit closer than foreground objects.

    • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  Год назад

      The 2x lens is great if you want to capture a landscape including the moon or the sun. However, it` will not capture the moon or sun in detail. For that we recommend using a third-party telephoto lens. Here's an article on how to get nice moon photos: skiesandscopes.com/iphone-astrophotography/

    Great vid and luv your explanation of compression. As for lenses however with the 12 ProMax I have found that the software will force use of digital soon vs using the correct lens for the 2.5x photos in most lighting cases. Case of the software forcing a poor choice.

    I have a question sir. In all your videos why do you hold your iphone in a landscape pattern, is there any special reason for them?

    • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  6 месяцев назад

      It depends on the composition of the image and the message the photographer wants to transmit. Shooting in landscape mode showcases more of the scene and it helps to add more context. Portrait mode is also used, but it depends on the scene :)

    What’s the difference with the 16:9 shot?

    • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  3 года назад

      A 16:9 shot is wider compared to a 4:3 aspect ratio meaning that there are slightly less pixels in these shots than when you shoot with the normal 4:3 aspect ratio. Sometimes the 16:9 works better with the scene to get the best composition. Until I watched your video, I wasn’t sure which lens was which. I did several with the selfie camera because I wasn’t comfortable framing selfie video with the main or forward camera. Starting this weekend, I’m going to be practicing selfies with the extra wide lens. Thank you for the information! The town in this video is very nice. Location?

      If you got a Pro model, even if it's not the max, you'll still get the .5x lens which works great for mountains/landscapes. :)

    don't you get green dots lens flare when shooting in the lights (night mode) or directly to the sun? I get HORRIBLE green dots (iphone 12 pro max)

    • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  3 года назад

      Those are lens flares caused by the light hitting the lens at certain angles. They're hard to avoid when shooting, but pretty easy to remove with editing, here's a guide on how to do it from our blog - iphonephotographyschool.com/touchretouch/

    I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max so I have the 2.5x lens. But if I want to shoot a River to make it look endless, would it be best to use 0.5x or 1x

    • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  3 года назад

      Hi Alex! It always depends on the scene in front of you as to which lens you want to use. 0.5x is a great choice as it stretches out the space between the foreground and the background and can make the river seem to stretch further. • @iPhone_Photography_School
      @iPhone_Photography_School  3 года назад

      It could be digital noise if you're shooting in really dark environments, or if the dots are bigger, they're probably lens flares from a light hitting your iPhone's lens at a certain angle. :) You can learn to get stunning shots on your iPhone every time on our iPhone Photo Academy course, here's the link to join - iphone.to/ipa-r
