We need to bring swing coats back. I made one as well, but my sewing skills are not clean, but I have since improved since that make. I wore my coat yesterday, I still love it, errors and all. Keep inspiring
I watch most of your work, I am in awe of your way of description of the entire process of everything you do when it comes to Sewing, you are a great teacher by way of Inspiration! Thank you Sabrina❤
I love watching you sew. You are extremely talented at it. Your lines are always so nice. The pink and orange are so pretty and always make me think Barbie
Your hair, your watch, your background . . . how beautifully authentic in every little detail! I don't even sew (yet) but I'm so impressed I'm subscribing just to bask in this gorgeous aesthetic. ❤
This coat is fabulous, and you look so good in it! Also, your narrating voice is very soothing, and the music, too. Found you by chance and subscribed right away.
I would have done 2 rows of topstitch on the pockets, collar and the yoke 😍 I see the 2nd row closer to the seam edge. You did excellent job of sewing the coat 😘 Now you need to make a hat to match it 🥰
Thanks. I actually made her a coat and she loved it, but refuses to make it so I don’t think I’ll be making her much for a while it’s too expensive and I won’t force her to wear anything. That being said the baby doesn’t mind so mother son will be a thing
It’s absolutely beautiful - well done! I love the lining and outer fabric colour combo :) If possible, I’d love to see a bit more finished garnet footage in your projects. They’re so very lovely.
Beautiful coat and such a lovely color! I always forget that flannel back satin exists - sounds like a really great idea for lining a coat! I’ll definitely be tucking that knowledge away for the future 😊
Growing up very poor, my mom made our clothes. Watching you work your wonders is refreshing and so wholesome! My mom used a lot of the shortcuts you use, you clever young woman. I'm so happy that the art of sewing has not been lost. When I watch your videos, I feel comforted. Thank you, sweet young beautiful woman.
You know, you learn something from everybody, even if you've been sewing for decades - And, I did not know that trick to keep the heat on the pressing! I wish I had, because my granddaughter just inherited a pleated, wool skirt I made her mama! I struggled so hard with that pressing. You are also very good with color! 😍
Oh what a adorable channel,lm subscribing. l love your hair it reminds.me of the late beautiful Jazz Goddesses So much class, so much style. Please bring back the Real Quintessential Woman, of colour Godbless❤ 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
I really enjoyed this video! I love your sense of style and the colors and fabrics you chose for this coat. Beautifully done! I am a 60’s child and remember this style from my childhood. Women dressed very stylish then.
Oh my you have my mother's sewing machine! Good job on the coat, so pretty on you. I actually have a vintage 60's a line coat the color of your lining with 3/4 sleeves and large buttons. Fascinating to watch you create this beautiful garment.
Absolutely love this coat and the fabric is beautiful, I have been a seamstress since the age of 16 s I know that work that goes into such a piece of work .Love watching you video’s and you are a clever lovely lady thanks for your demonstration .Love from Scotland 😊
Beautiful make - love the colour of the coat and the lining. You look lovely in it - and the dress beneath really shows why the coat was designed in that way. Aces!
Oh my goodness your so talented. My mother had a beige coat like this in the 60’s. Watching you make me wish I had paid more attention when my grandmother was trying to teach me to sew.
I remember my mother had a swing coat for winter. I recently drafted a pattern for one of my BJDs (dolls) based on Mom’s coat 🥰. Came out lovely 😊 Your videos always make me nostalgic 🥰
Beautiful, as always. Have you ever considered having fabric labels printed to sew into your garments? You know, “ Handmade by Sewrena” or something like that?
What a gorgeous coat! I love the colour choice you made for the lining! It looks so fabulous on you, too. Thank you for including so much video of you actually sewing. I'm not new to sewing, but really only got into it a few months ago, so watching someone who knows what they're doing really helps a lot.
Still binging lol. I wish my Mum was still alive to see this coat. I was born in the UK in 1954, and my Mum was very particular about coats, especially hers (lol). I learned if she couldn't find 'that' coat, she would have hers dyed another colour rather than buy something she didn't love. She was a great seamstress, but never ventured into coats. When we moved to Australia in 1964, coats virtually were never worn.
Wow!!! I just discovered your channel, it is wonderful!! I’m having so much fun watching you dress up and make and shop etc. the exact same fashions of my mom and her sister of that era!! You are so beautiful, modeling those fashions !!! thoroughly enjoyable👍🏼❤️
Beautiful coat! Great pattern & fabric choices, and great work as well. I made a bound buttonhole on a coat I sewed 30 years ago, using my Singer “Professional” buttonholer. I bought that attachment in 1989! I still have the “Professional” & use it once in a while. It’s very good and gives a dewiest several nice options.
Absolutely stunning! You did a fantastic job and a wonderful job narrating the steps as you went along. I'm so glad I found your video because next week I have to make a wool cape for a little girl and I didn't realize how to steam and set the seams. I learned a lot from you and I thank you that was just delightful and I'm going to go back and hit that button!
Thank you so much!!! Also I should have mentioned that my pressing ham is stuffed with woodchips so it helps trap the steam sort of like a clapper I don’t know if a ham stuffed with anything else will give the same results.
I recently saw someone use a wood dollar tree plaque as a clapper and it's worked great. Just need that wood to absorb the moisture so it doesn't have to be a fancy sewing clapper.
Absolutely gorgeous!!! You did an outstanding job! I can't tell you how happy I am I found your channel. I am planning on getting back into sewing this winter and your channel is giving me the gumption to do it!!! I can't wait to watch more of your video's!
You are so great! Love the colors you chose. This coat reminds me of the one Lucy wore when she was pregnant on the I Love Lucy shot. Come to think of it, the 50's were the height of the baby boom, so these coats were practical as well as stylish!
We need to bring swing coats back. I made one as well, but my sewing skills are not clean, but I have since improved since that make. I wore my coat yesterday, I still love it, errors and all. Keep inspiring
I loved this!! Having been a child in the 60’s this brought back stylish memories!! Very well done! ❤ from 🇨🇦
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed
Me too! ❤ Gorgeous coat and fabulous lining!
Lovely and useful tutorial, I also love your vintage hair style, very stylish and charming. I love retro fashion.
Wow, this jacket is so beautiful. I love watching you so and the outcome of your pieces🤗😍😍😍😍🧥🧤🧣👒👛🧳
I watch most of your work, I am in awe of your way of description of the entire process of everything you do when it comes to Sewing, you are a great teacher by way of Inspiration! Thank you Sabrina❤
I love the end result. I can't sew to save my life but I love watching you do this. I love vintage clothing and it's so cool that you make your own!!
Awww thank you! Well I appreciate the support anyway 💕💕
Haha same. And my mother and my daughter both are/were wonderful seamstresses. Also that looks like a maternity coverup.
The colors of this coat are so beautiful! I love a bright, surprising lining too! It turned out so cute.
I love watching you sew. You are extremely talented at it. Your lines are always so nice.
The pink and orange are so pretty and always make me think Barbie
Thank you so so much 💕
Your hair, your watch, your background . . . how beautifully authentic in every little detail! I don't even sew (yet) but I'm so impressed I'm subscribing just to bask in this gorgeous aesthetic. ❤
Awww thank you sooo much 💕💕🫶🏾
This coat is fabulous, and you look so good in it! Also, your narrating voice is very soothing, and the music, too. Found you by chance and subscribed right away.
Your coat is so gorgeous! I love the bow detail at the back.
Thank you
I would have done 2 rows of topstitch on the pockets, collar and the yoke 😍 I see the 2nd row closer to the seam edge. You did excellent job of sewing the coat 😘 Now you need to make a hat to match it 🥰
Beautiful coat. Love how you narrate with sewing video behind. Faster than having to watch all steps in real time.
Absolutely gorgeous! You’re so talented! I’d love to see you do a matching mommy and daughter coat. 😊
Thanks. I actually made her a coat and she loved it, but refuses to make it so I don’t think I’ll be making her much for a while it’s too expensive and I won’t force her to wear anything. That being said the baby doesn’t mind so mother son will be a thing
Definitely a favorite in the late 1950's. My Mom called this a topper.
I love old Kenmores! Solid, indestructible, easy to find parts for, and inexpensive since they are underappreciated.
I'm 79 and my mom made this pattern for me back then. It brought back great memories.
Omg thanks for sharing that memory with me! It is a gorgeous pattern!
That is a lovely story Charlotte. I’m very 60, I remember my mum sewing me a beautiful teal blue cloak with an over sized hood. I loved that cloak.
Absolutely gorgeous and I love the addition of the bow at the back! Well done! 😁
Thank you 💕💕
Love the bow detail on the back. So cute.
All I can say is WOW, what a great job.
Ohh that coat, color and style is so you! You look like a antique magazine model! Your gorgeous! Well done!
It’s absolutely beautiful - well done! I love the lining and outer fabric colour combo :) If possible, I’d love to see a bit more finished garnet footage in your projects. They’re so very lovely.
Thank you so much! Sure are their specific shots you would want to see?
I do a lot of hand stiching and hand quilting. Try Thimble It pads and and/or a leather thimble. Beautiful coat.
Beautiful coat and such a lovely color! I always forget that flannel back satin exists - sounds like a really great idea for lining a coat! I’ll definitely be tucking that knowledge away for the future 😊
Thank you so much 💕💕 I used it to line a house coat too and it’s so warm
Growing up very poor, my mom made our clothes. Watching you work your wonders is refreshing and so wholesome! My mom used a lot of the shortcuts you use, you clever young woman. So cute!! That lining application definitely looks well worth all your time and effort.
Thank you 💕💕 it was. I need more thimble practice so it doesn’t take so long next time
I love the combination of the pumpkin spice wool and the pink lining. Very chic.
I really enjoyed this video! I love your sense of style and the colors and fabrics you chose for this coat. Beautifully done! I am a 60’s child and remember this style from my childhood. Women dressed very stylish then.
That coat is just sew special. The moment I saw the picture, I remembered it was called the swing coat. Excellent video!!
Awww thank you 💕❤️
😅 Never thought strollers were an issue with patch pockets. Adorable. Beautiful color for your coat. The coat turned out beautiful😊

Very good excellent work 😊
The patch pockets are very cute on this coat 😊
Perfection. The colours and the cut. Beautiful design and styling.
Oh my goodness your so talented. My mother had a beige coat like this in the 60’s. Watching you make me wish I had paid more attention when my grandmother was trying to teach me to sew.

Beautiful, as always. Have you ever considered having fabric labels printed to sew into your garments? You know, “ Handmade by Sewrena” or something like that?
So glad you went with the bound button holes. Good quality clothing from that time period would have bound button holes. You did an amazing job.
Gorgeous!!! I've always loved this particular silhouette
What a gorgeous coat! I love the colour choice you made for the lining! It looks so fabulous on you, too.

You are so encouraging!
Wow! What an elegant, pretty design.
Wow the coat is beautiful and the lining colour is fabulous
I don’t have a clapper either. I use a 10 inch piece of leftover 2 by 4 wood that I sanded.
I loved swing coats. I still will wear one.
The coat is EVERYTHING!
Woah! Stunning! So appreciate the stunning color you chose for the lining. Perfect contrast to the pumpkin color. Love it.
SOOO glad I found your channel! I love vintage patterns and you sew BEAUTIFULLY!

Beautiful coat! Great pattern & fabric choices, and great work as well.

I'm so glad to see someone else cut their notches to the OUTSIDE of the pattern. I thought I was the only one :)
Hahaha i didn’t know that other people would cut into their notches 😂 my mother in law taught me this way.
@@SewRena My Mom did too!! She said you don't want to risk cutting into the fabric.
Rena, I Love your coat. The Colour is amazing and very beautiful.
Wowza! You are without a doubt a gifted seamstress! Beautiful Beautiful
Awww thank you so much
You are a beautiful sewer. The coat is so classy. ❤️ 🇬🇧

Great lining, and I love the collar! May you wear it for a long time to come!
Thank you 💕💕 that’s the plan I’m so proud of it. It literally sits on the dress form instead of the closet 😂
I don't like orange, it never looks good on me, but Girl! you rock it! is a beautiful work and it looks stunning on you.
Thanks so much! Spiced orange shades are so pretty
Absolutely gorgeous.
You need to make labels for your stuff to sew in.
