I think beginners will appreciate this format. For anyone new who may be turned off by this 43-minute-long video, please stick around. Always much to learn from Jon Peters' videos.
Yes, please continue making these instructional type videos. I got started woodworking late in life and I have never taken a woodworking class, your step by step instructional videos are invaluable to me. I am very grateful that you take the time to make and share these video's.
Jon,
Been watching your videos for years - since I first got into woodworking. Your style is exactly what I hope for in a teacher; no flashy intros or annoying music, just valuable insight from start to finish. On top of that, your builds are as high in quality as your teaching. You're a true craftsman with an eye for quality and design, and I am very grateful that you share your techniques with people like me.
Personally, I really enjoyed this format. I don't often have the time for 45+ minute videos, but when it's from Jon Peters, it's must-watch entertainment for the evening. In-depth builds like this are gold. Thank you for all that you do!
I agree with you, couldn't have said it better.
I've noticed videos like this don't get a lot of views, I appreciate and enjoy video tutorials like this. Keep it up if you can.
nice blend of approachable but high quality
Thank you!
I love these types of videos! You are such a wealth of knowledge and a fantastic teacher. More of this, PLEASE!!!!
I learned a lot of practical, fundamental skills here, as well as a few slick tricks. Thank you for filming this build step-by-step. Solid craftsmanship.
I very much appreciate the extra time it takes to make these kind of videos. To me woodworking is a process and you break that process down so it is easy to follow and understand as well as entertaining to watch. I always come away with something new. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us.
Hi Jon - Thank for this video. I’m a retired hydronic heating contractor from Chicago and I just made my first piece of cabinetry based on your videos. It’s a kitchen island with a bookcase at the end of it toward the dining room. Wouldn’t have been able to do it to my liking without your videos.
Thank you Stephen, that’s really great to hear. Really appreciate your comment, Jon
Excellent video Jon and good format, the bookcase was excellent. Congratulations ¡¡¡¡¡👍
I am a great woodworker ( wannabe). You do a great job and explain how you do it nicely. I’m glad I found your channel. Thank you very much.
Woodworking takes time, is awesome that you take the extra time to make the videos. Explain how to is very important to all of us. Thank you
Great video Jon! I always love your simple classic designs and that turn in are tired and true well built pieces.
i really enjoy your videos, Jon. They have a real good amount of detail and are quite easy to follow. Please continue doing these types of long format teaching videos.
Outstanding! Thank you. Will be making this!
Love the format . . . Thanks for your time
Absolutely love this format. You explain every step you’re making with ease and clarity. Your furniture designs are stellar. Love the bead moulding at the base in white and the sapele natural. #noepoxy 😂
Thank you for the plans, Jon. Please keep this video coming.
I like the long form content. I know it does really fit the RUclips algorithm. You are a very good teacher.
Great tutorial video! Thanks Jon
Great video. Enjoy this format!
I would really love to see you make something out of all lumber not just plywood. I am just getting back into woodworking and I avoid using plywood if I can. I realize the price may be an issue but my clients prefer solid wood and I market it that way; no plywood used... Thanks and I really do love your videos and look forward to seeing much more. Thanks
Always love it when you teach like you did here! Please more videos like this!
awesome video - thanks for showing all of this!
Love this format. So helpful and I learn a lot for my future builds. Thank you for your work.
Thank you John. I really enjoy you instructional videos.
Wood accent at base is a nice touch you don’t see too often. Looks great! Thanks for the great content.
Please more videos like this one. Awesome looking bookcase. I love the painted base and finished top.
Very educational thank you!
Greatly appreciated that it's all in one part.
Love the format. Beautiful bookcase.
Nice. Enjoyed this "teaching" format. That bookcase is incredibly sturdy--it will be holding books and electronics (or something else) in another 100 years.
Very much enjoy these types of videos. I have been what I call a 'fantasy' woodworker for many years - wanting to be a woodworker, ut having no time, tools or shop. Now that I am retired, I hope to actually begin to build things for my home. Thanks again.
First time to view your video and you seem to be a cut above the other how to videos. You are an excellent teacher. Maybe its my preference but you address so many of the questions I would have. Thank you for your investment into the videos
Love your videos and especially this type of format. Please keep them coming.
Excellent...Excellent...keep them coming. I sincerely appreciate your effort.
Great video format and please continue them. I really appreciate seeing your entire process.
Really a great video Jon, thank you so much for the detailed build.
Thanks Jon. Thumbs up!!
Fantastic!
I admire your efficiency. You are quick, you don't waste any energy on making things look pretty. This is by far the quickest way to nail stuff together and be done with it.
I do enjoy this format
Great video! Step by step really helps us understand the build process...
Fantastic video! Thank you for posting. Would be great to see more like this.
I appreciate this format and look forward to more. Thanks
Absolute BESTEST part of this video is the fact I got to kill 43+ mins. while on the clock at work to watch it!!! It was a nice change of pace to essentially watch an entire step bye step build Jon!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
Thanks Mike!
Looks great with the contrast of the painted surfaces with the natural wood finish. Thanks for sharing
Great lessons, hopefully learned for my own attempt. Thank you!
Looks great
Jon this video and the format of teaching is perfect. I am in Australia and watch on RUclips and it is refreshing to have a woodworker like yourself show the way to achieve nice work with a no fuss attitude. I have been building furniture for a long time now and i am 74 years old but your approach to the task is refreshing.

Love this format, the longer video both gives me ideas for project details/methods and lets me get some of the satisfaction of woodworking while I might not have the time to be in the shop. Really appreciate your work!

What a wonderful Thanksgiving present to this audience. Great project, clearly presented, warts (small mistakes) and all. It's great to once again see a project that's completed with Waterlox finish, probably my favorite of the finishes I've chosen in the past. Thank you, Jon.
We enjoyed doing a more than wonderful job, thank you

Great instructional format video. I get a lot out of your videos, from the approach to the execution as well as the tips sprinkled in between. Keep them coming👍👍
Love this format. Just like the larger bookshelf you built years ago.
You make it look easy. I always get a few tips from your videos. Thanks.
Great project! Thank you for showing your mistakes too. A lot of folks edit them out and it's nice to see that even master carpenters are still human!
I love the teaching format. It makes me feel like I could use the video to build from even without plans. Thank you for your work
I love this video it’s exactly what I’m looking for. I’m about to make a very tall book case for inside for all my canning jars so it needs to be sturdy. Thank you
